  1. Tend to doubt this. There are several other Middle Schools in Lincoln County who can choose to play HS ball at City if they like. So, imo, City isn't likely going anywhere. Besides, if their MS has been in decline 3-4 years and that's a determining factor, the HS should've been better 3-4 years ago than now. They obviously weren't.
  2. Giles to Grundy distance isn't all that bad - less than 100 miles (school to school), about an hour and 45 minutes. Less than 30 miles past Franklin County, where Giles plays this year. Isn't ideal, but not a crazy drive, imo. Barely over half as far as Cleveland, where GC plays late this year.
  3. That's incorrect. If you're ejected in HS football in TN, you miss the following game as well. Doesn't matter if ejection is first half or second.
  4. I'll go FC by 21. Some very serious athletes at FC, and unlike the last several years, there's a QB who can get them the ball. QB was the difference in this game last year, imo. CC QB threw 3 TD's, whereas FC QB threw 3 INT's, but was only a one score game. FC beat Lipscomb Academy and others to finish 2nd in the Riverdale 7v7 a few weeks back (28 teams, incl Riverdale, Oakland, etc), and FC played well, threw for 4 TD's to 4 different receivers and outscored Fayetteville last week in a scrimmage. Fayetteville drilled Giles Co last night. Most of the same offense who put 40 points up on Green Hill in the playoffs last year, That was easily the most Green Hill gave up in 2020. Was new QB's first game - threw for 420+ yards.
  5. Know all you mentioned well and would be happy for them all to be back home - would likely be the very best thing LC could do if they could pull it off.
  6. Is he the super at Lawrence County now? How good are they now? When were they consistently good? As for Alabama double-dippers, how big of a problem did you have with John Meadows? He was the best, so I have no issue with Alabama double dippers in general. Why do you? Being in a geographic spot where your options are better because of that is a positive, not a negative. There is no magic. I hope they can find a good coach who can put them in a better spot. But anyone who thinks the players don't matter is delusional. I have no problem with Fayetteville's success - happy for them and with them. There is no magic solution and no quick one at LCHS. The best news for LC is that they have shown that they are willing to spend the money to hire a top level coach and there is good support in the community. Hopefully they can find one who is really good at winning with fewer athletes that many/most teams he will play. I hope that they do, but I know it's not as simple a typing a bunch of nonsense like you just did. And no, I wasn't worried about Fayetteville City when I played, because all of those guys were playing with me at LCHS.
  7. LCHS only had two winning seasons in the seven prior to his arrival, and we all know Fayetteville City has had a huge impact in the last five years or so. Impossible to even remotely (and credibly) argue that this coincides with the Director of Schools.
  8. Nah, I’m Greg. Haven’t you heard?
  9. You guys are not nearly as good at deduction as you think. I don’t have a kid on the team, didn’t play for FCHS, didnt attend FCHS, never coached at FCHS, or any other HS. Haven’t voiced an opinion on the coaching search or hire - don’t have a dog in the fight. Think I did see a couple FC games last year. One, at least. Don’t care who you, dixieboy, or Greg are, either.
  10. Who is Greg? And I don’t have a kid on the team. Just posted the news.
  11. Cunningham officially named as HC at FCHS. https://www.heraldchronicle.com/sports/local/cunningham-selected-as-gridiron-rebels-new-head-coach/article_0fbf0ff8-2d92-11ea-b461-9395b3aa26ad.html#utm_campaign=blox&utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social
  12. Might want to remember the name 'Bob Jones' here.
  13. Ok, has been a good discussion, but I'm out. Later -
  14. There's a Q/A section that touches on that. Says area-wide schools are schools similar, but not limited to magnet schools, etc., that have no bus routes but which are open to all kids within the system. Good question - took me a few days to figure that out myself (with @Southtowner 's help. I think that's the clarification that's needed. Remove 'bus routes' and add 'zone specific bus routes' and add a high school in a single HS system as an example. Would clear all of this up. For Fayetteville, LCHS, Tullahoma, Coffee County, and no telling how many others. *** Q. What is meant by the term “system-wide” public school in the definition of “territory” as defined in the Definitions? A. A system-wide public school is a school without geographic zones or bus routes that draws students throughout the school system. Examples of system-wide public schools are, but not limited to: Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences, Martin Luther King, the magnet portion of Liberty Technology High School, etc.
  15. 1) Yes, if moving from out of County. Assuming LC has no bus routes in town (as I currently think), the city of Fayetteville is now out of their territory for transfer purposes. 2) Yes, if moving from out of County and if LCHS doesn't pick up kids by bus in town (or doesn't start doing so). Or unless the TSSAA says the county has bus routes since they drive through town, but don't pick anyone up. That's ridiculous, but they could say it and enforce it, I'm sure. If so, though, Fayetteville could just drive an empty bus around out in the county almost as easily. 3) Yes. Fayetteville could say for next year they'll come pick you up from any address in the county, charge you a fee to do so if needed, call it a 'bus route' and thereby restore that territory, it appears to me. Not sure if you'd get away with obviously tailoring it for one kid, nor should you. 4) Yes, unless bus situations change or unless the TSSAA says that buses driving through town with no pickups constitutes a 'bus route'. Not sure even they would try to pull that. But, would be much easier for the county system to do that than for the city system to do something similar, just due to size and costs. For those reasons, I could see the County as being way more likely to do it. They do indeed compete, so I wouldn't be surprised to see bus changes based on this.
  16. It will, unless I'm wrong about Lincoln County not picking up in town, or unless they start. I guess that the TSSAA says they have bus routes since they drive through town without picking anyone up. That's obviously a farce, but they could say that and enforce it, I'm sure.
  17. Oh, I never believed that logic would necessarily rule the day in an appeal. Or even matter much, if at all. If this had stayed in court, they would have to show that they are applying their rules correctly. And that's where logic matters - because they are also required to follow their own rules. You cannot argue that the rule is unfair, unreasonable, etc., but you can absolutely argue that they are misapplying it. In that case, logic, precedent, etc. would absolutely matter. Now, it's easy to understand why Fayetteville won't try again to go that route. Would cost a ton of money and you'd likely never get a fair call on or off the field again. Simply being able to enforce an interpretation doesn't mean it's logical or in accordance with the intent of their rule.
  18. It still 100% hinges on the definition of 'territory'. Two BOC members STILL disagree on that point. Woudn't you think they would 'know about transfer rules'? It's not trivial, as many would like to think. BOC members disagree after studying it, but everyone should know ahead of time? I seriously doubt that Lincoln County and Fayetteville are the only two systems in TN that don't pick up in certain areas with buses (Tullahoma has none, as best I can tell). I know many don't see it, but this has opened a can of worms. If they don't clarify the rules, we'll hear from it again some October or so.
  19. For transfers they did. Which is all that 'territory' refers to. The term is unrelated to kids who do not transfer. So, if someone already in HS moves from Nashville to Swanson Drive in Fayetteville, they cannot be immediately eligibile at LCHS any longer. The county doesn't pick up kids for LCHS in town. Your last sentence is interesting, too. You're right, it's always been assumed you have to sit if you move from FHS to LCHS or vice versa, regardless of any change in address. No longer. If the county doesn't pick up in town, they lose Fayetteville proper as territory. FHS has ONLY Fayetteville proper as territory. So, a kid in town who attends FHS can now move a mile out of town with immediate eligibility at LCHS. And vice versa. An LCHS kid in the county can move inside the city limits and be immediately eligible at FHS. It's suddenly very easy to be in one territory and out of the other and then have the opposite when you move in or out of town. Couldn't do that when everyone thought all of LC was both school's territory. Woops. That is, unless the county school board starts picking kids up by bus in town. Then, they get that territory back for transfers. Under that scenario, a transfer from outside the county once could go either place with immediate eligibility. And in-county transfers would have to sit a year again. Going to be a mess if they don't clarify the rule.
  20. Should have been made aware by whom, though, is the question? Director of Schools believed it exactly as they did. As far as I know, she's been in charge since FHS was created and worked through all of this with the TSSAA. Not a soul in the system understood this, and seemingly, neither did Bernard Childress in September. I have no idea how any of them could have understood this before October.
  21. It will be a mess. It's a big can of worms. Lincoln County just lost all of Fayetteville proper as territory, for instance. No one has ever imagined that.
  22. 'OR' would make no sense. That would not allow bus routes to carve out zones in zoned systems, which is likely the intent. If it just said 'OR', no zone defined by bus routes in a multi-school system would mean anything at all under the rules. You could transfer to any school in a system and be immediately eligible, irrespective of zones as defined by bus routes (and counter to school board intent, which seems to be the TSSAA intent). Even if there are 5 high schools in a zoned system and the school board intends zones to be strictly dictated by bus routes, a transfer could be immediately eligible anywhere. Bus routes have decided territory and therefore eligibility in zoned systems innumerable times. To my knowledge, they've never been used to impair the territory for a single HS system to something less than the local board of education's explicit intention before.
  23. You don't disagree with me. No one anywhere would risk throwing away the playoffs if they thought there was an issue. Maybe he would have played against Huntland, but wouldn't in easy wins if anyone suspected an issue. That's not logical.
  24. Which included the exact and correct address. I've seen Bernard Childress refer to their internal system for typing in an address to check it. That differentiates this situation from most. Usually, in cases like this, it turns out the address was wrong or invalid, etc.
