I had not viewed the championship field until this week. While most of the field is in very good condition there are two rough spots. The quarterfinal and semifinal fields are in very good shape. Huge difference from last year.

Fantastic game between Memphis East and Brentwood. The game was not decided by the refs. It was decided by the players.

I was there. And it did seem like East had a significant rebound advantage (although they did not officially). I would be interested though to see if East had an advantage on points scored off offensive rebounds because it seemed they had a bunch of easy put backs.

I the know the Lawson brothers like to play an outside-in game, but I think with a significant size advantage, they should play low more against Blackman.

Blackman played an outstanding game. That was the best game Iv'e seen them play this year. Blackman was solid on defense. They executed on offense. Wilson was hot from the 3pt line, I think 5-5 in the first half. And Hart the PG was having his way getting past defenders and there was little help-defense when he penetrated. They played hard the entire game. I'm sure Maryville was better than they looked. Congratulations to them on their season.

This Blackman team is not a talented as the past three years, but they play to their potential night in and night out. They are not tall at all, but they will play defense for 4 quarters. And they will work as long as it takes on offense to get a high percentage/open shot. I've enjoyed watching them play this year.

Kreager reported that both schools offered to suspend coaches but let the girls advance, but must have been rejected by the tssaa.

Tssaa spokesman was just interviewed on 104.5 concerning the decision to remove the two teams from the region. He said that the tssaa only had the authority to discipline the team. They had no authority to suspend coach only. He did say, however, that they met with both administrations (Riverdale and Smyrna) this morning and this agreement was reached between all parties. He stated that Riverdale and Smyrna could have suggested a penalty that only penalized the coaches involved. But he did not say whether they did, or whether it was rejected by the tssaa. He did say however, that he thought the girls shared some responsibility for their actions despite being instructed by the coaches.

I hate this for the players. It would have taken a lot of courage for these 15-18 yr old girls to have defied their coaches commands. I think the suspensions for the coaches are in order.

You are correct. Smyrna is guilty too. However, my point was let's don't turn this into bashing everything about Riverdale. I have not seen a free for all on all things Smyrna yet.

My comments are already on this board. I think what took place in the game between Riverdale and Smyrna was disgraceful. However, the more this board becomes about bashing everything Riverdale, the more people will be turned off to the central issue at hand., namely the game Saturday afternoon.

This was not war. It was a high school basketball game. I live here in Murfreesboro and am generally a fan of all the teams. I was only able to make the championship games yesterday and did not see the game in question, but if the videos I've seen are indicative of what happened, then the game was an utter disgrace. The thing I cannot get over is the Coach asking his players to do what they did. What kind of coach does this? As a parent, I would have come down at halftime and probably removed my daughter if he were asking her to play that way. He embarrassed them. I hope the teams are not punished. I think however, the coach should be severely reprimanded.

Congratulations Maryville. Someone sincerely help me out. Maryville completed the same short pass 4-8 yards all night. Why do you think Oakland did not adjust? Did they want more run defense or feared the deep pass? I don't think the latter.

For what its worth, in Coach Shad's post game interview he said Blackman's lack of composure throughout the game was a factor in losing the game.

I think we leave should leave room for teams to improve as the season goes by. Oakland beat Arlington early in the season. Additionally, much more was on the line in that game last night. Everyone can dog Whitehaven all they want, but they just keep winning. It doesn't really matter what the score is, as long as Whitehaven's score is higher than its competition.

Maryville Fans, What kind of year is Blackmon having at LB? Seemed like he was in every play last year against Blackman. Is he going both ways, or just playing LB?

I don't think anyone is taking a moral high ground. The game was ugly throughout because of the penalties. And this is coming from someone who will cheering for Oakland loudly on Friday.

I think Oakland's kicker broke his foot last week. I agree, the atmosphere was ok. Blackman's side was rather quiet, but I think this was due to Oakland's D.
