  1. @bob77, @chipper_jones, @GCPioneers Anyone have updates on the morning games?
  2. The Girls finals are 7PM Saturday
  3. According to ESPN HoopGurlz, Nina is the first lady in the rankings from TN for class of 2013 and is the ranked 52. Middleton is the first lady in the rankings from TN for class of 2014 and is the ranked 22. Does that make one better than the other? Playing one on one doesn't really tell you anything either. Nina is 6'1" and Middleton is 5'8".
  4. hope this comes out right... Game 1 CPA vs Dickson Co Game 2 Waverly vs Jackson County Game 3 Ensworth vs Union City Game 4 Harding Academy vs Hickman County Loser side Loser 1 vs Loser 2 Loser 3 vs Loser 4
  5. looks like from the brackets, the only way for JC and UC to play would be in the finals. Never know what might happen. How does Union City and Ensworth stack up? Is there as much contraverse with CPA girls as it is with the boys?
  6. Can anyone give a little info, scoop, on CPA, Hickman, Dickson Co and Ensworth? Never seen them play and have only read "fan speak" about them.
  7. Having never seen any of the other teams play and just based on reading other posts, box scores and fan excitement, I would say Union City or Jackson County. Any info on CPA, Hickman or Waverly?
  8. @UCTdoes How long is the Fair young lady out?
  9. the christmas tournament is at Hickman County
  10. the only thing to make this a better tourney, would be for it to have started yesterday. I have read so much about Union City and Jackson County that I am anxious to watch them play.
  11. This will be a good little road trip for Harding Academy as well. Looking forward to seeing good basketball and good competition to get the team ready to make a run at D2A State, again.
  12. watched him play last night at Harding. impressive. he has HOPS and loves to crush the ball with the block, which got him into early foul trouble. He RUNS the floor and has pretty good handles. When he posts up, he WANTS the ball. Maybe he was just settling in to the team or was hurt, but from the box scores from the SBA website, he really has not done too much in the first 9 games.
  13. Just to make a full disclosure. Whether it is fully or selectively enforced by the TSSAA is not important. Athletic Recruiting is against the rules that schools in TN play by and should be considered cheating. BTW, you are so right. Probably happens in every gym in Memphis as well as the rest of TN and the USA. And whether the parents, faculty, or students like it, it is more than likely happening at their particular school. But that still does not make it "legal". MtTroll. exactly. any child can pretty much transfer to any school for academic reasons with little or no questions asked. Yes, you still have to fill out the paperwork but nearly 100% of the time, they are approved. However, Band, Chorus, art, theatre, etc are not under the TSSAA umbrella of authority. That first "A" unfortunatley does not stand of Academics.
  14. I would have to say Melrose vs any Memphis team and White Station vs any Memphis team
  15. There is no arguing here. Just "loudly" discussing the same action with differing view points with passion, and most of the time, rose colored glasses on. Same action, one fan sees a dribble as carrying; the other sees it as great handles and ankle breaker. Should we ever put down or bad talk another player, team or school for how they play? Give credit to the players of both teams for their dedication and work. I am IN NO WAY saying everyone deserves a trophy for just showing up. Earn it and be proud of earning it. I cannot remember who's quote this is but "the best way to get my team better, is for ME to get better" Oh, it will get exciting when one team loses because of a ref's "cheating" and "terrible calls" or someone gets beat by 40 and the 3rd string is still pressing.
  16. From Memphis, ECS or Lausannewill more than likely be favored in the West with St. George being tough.
  17. Parents that get mad when you tell their pre school kids to stop running up and down the bleachers during the game. That is what half time is for as well as the huge grassy area on the visitors sidelines.
  18. @ftballfrnzy I would say the MBA @ CBHS; Baylor @ MUS; or Fayette Academy @ ECS (dont let the 4-6 record fool you)
  19. Game 1: Whitehaven Game 2: Germantown Game 3: Craigmont Game 4: JNS Game 5: Trezevant Game 6: Covington Game 7: Westwood Game 8: Briarcrest Game 9: MUS Game 10: CBHS Game 11: Harding Aca. Game 12: ECS Game 13: St. George's

  23. Excellent question. Is there any accountability for refs in any TSSAA district or region? I do not believe that a ref is the actual cause for a team to lose but they can make a close game go the way they want it to. I teach my girls that the ref did not cause them to lose; missing 10 free throws or 6 lay ups is the reason they lost a close game. Too many refs come to a game with an attitude or chip on there shoulder. Is there an accountability review process? I will volunteer to video both Varsity games and even the 2 JV games as well, and send the DVD to someone to grade the refs.
  24. Both games were very entertaining and exciting. Congrats to Webb and Girls Prep...
