  1. I agree Pioneer ! She is a tremendous player !
  2. Yes, that's correct! These two did not make it to state, however middle and east TN do not get overlooked as much as west. They have far more votes in the process. My father coached for 31 years and it was never as it is today. More votes in an area equals more exposure to the writers that get to vote...it's simple math. Did all of these girls deserve to make it? YES...but a couple were left off with better stats than some and just as tough schedules but didn't quite make it to state. Congrats once again to all these ladies!
  3. Yes, sports writers across the state vote on these girls. It's a shame that only ONE girl from West Tennessee made it in single A and 3 in AA. This is a great group of athletes, but if it's going to be based on only players from teams that make it to the state tournament it's not an accurate list. There's too many players with fantastic stats that didn't make it to Murfreesboro that aren't even considered because "sports writers" didn't seen them play this year. It's also a shame that West TN doesn't have very many votes in the process. It gets more political every year. There's definitely more than one girl from West TN single A that deserved to make this team. Jalita Fason and Jordan Galey...you two girls deserved to be on this team as well ! Congrats to these all state girls on their accomplishments though.
  4. Flowers will not be overlooked this year being a finalist for Miss Basketball AND making it to the Boro. She should have been all state last year. Galey should make it as well even though Greenfield didn't make it to the state playlets. She was chosen for the BCAT TACA West team. She deserved it last year as well. They should be first teamers this year.
  5. Yes, Scoutman, I agree ! I watched several of her games this year. Such a versatile player. I hear she's a good kid as well, and made the All Academic team in 14a. Runner up to Flowers for MVP for past two years. I hope she's not overlooked for all state again this year in Class A. They overlooked her and Flowers both last year. Congrats to Ms. Galey !
  6. Lake County by double digits...low double digits. Should be an interesting game. Congrats to both teams.
  7. Yes, I believe they are related. I think Michelle Street played back when the Galey girl's aunt also played (also a talented basketball player) and her grandfather coached. (Jerrianne Gage (sp?)and Coach Gage). I think that was also when Coach Gage had Tara Tansil on his team. Bradford and Greenfield had some fierce games during that era !! Seems like they always will.
  8. Yes, went to the game tonight to see both Lake Co./ Bradford and Union City/Greenfield. UC won by 4 and Greenfield had a 12 point lead at one point. (36-32) Too bad the coach didn't utilize his shooters at all tonight. No screens, or plays designed for Galey, McMullen, or Randolph. They just stood around and passed the ball it seems. I didn't understand that at all. The play by play on the radio stated Greenfield had 15 turnovers. (12 from the two guards alone...young players). Tough loss for Greenfield. They are a much better team than that. On the other hand..good game for Union City and BIG WIN ! Congrats to Lake County as well. Also congrats to Galey on scoring her 1600 career point tonight and over 400 this season! She has a basketball future. When are the next games? What boy's teams play Friday night and where is the region tournament going to be held?
  9. Jordan Galey of Greenfield should be considered for Miss Basketball this year as well. I know I've seen her name mentioned on here already in a few posts. She's not flashy, but is a total workhorse on the court. She's been a four year starter for Greenfield and has led her team in scoring every year since her Freshman year. That year she also was runner up for Jackson Sun's newcomer of the year. She along with a couple of other players were highly overlooked last year for the all state team in class A (Molly Wallsmith to name one). I'm not sure who does the voting and nominating for this award but the West TN area in single A was overlooked last year. She is a tremendous player, extremely versatile, and I've seen her play every position on the floor on any given night and does it well. She's past the 1500 point mark in scoring and leads her team in steals, free throw percentage, assists, points, and three pointers (46%)via Jackson Sun. She's made the all district team every year as well as the All West TN team each year. Lots of superb players out there. Just hope she's considered. I haven't seen all players across the state but just putting in a good word on a great player. Good luck to all and also on the rest of their seasons.
  10. Galey does the exact same things as Combs when she plays. Starts as a forward and switches over to guard and post during most games, handles the ball well and shoots well too. Galey also steps out and shoots the three. Yes, this could go on and on. Each person on here has their favorites. Just a fan. Galey is being recruited by several schools and NAIA schools as well. Yes, this could go on and on. The coaches will pick their favorites during tournament time, so we have no say so unfortunately. They are both good players I agree. Good luck to all of them.
  11. No comparison...I agree with Galey over Combs. 5 colleges thus far are in hot pursuit of Galey. She's just a better player with way more skill. Obviously the coaches think so as well since she's been All District since her freshman year and Jackson Sun's Newcomer of the Year runner up to Kendra Williams.
