8 man football and 7on7 are completely different. I still teach the fundamentals of blocking, tackling, LB reads, DL hands and feet, OL steps and feet, option reads, QB footwork, etc. the exact same as I did with 11 man.

Exactly, its only a matter of time. Forget competing, some can't even survive the season and it's going to keep happening more and more. We've almost doubled our number of teams in Missouri in the last five years.

As rosters shrink, it will. I've seen it help rebuild programs and numbers countless times. I've never understood why no one bats an eye at 3on3 basketball but somehow 8man football is viewed like the spawn of Satan.

Only a rumor here and there about them returning to either jv or playing 8 man initially the last couple years, but nothing has ever come of those obviously.

That's a new one, but hard to be surprised from an admin that took four months to make a hire I guess.

With their numbers over the years, I always figured they'd be a perfect candidate for 8 man if TSSAA ever did it; or if they wanted to travel to the current TSIAA teams.

If an alum is leaving, that's traditionally a red flag, but never know. I'm curious because I've never known much about them, despite growing up only an hour from there.

What's the deal there? I know they're at the smaller end for enrollment, but that's about all I know.

Fully agree. Pickett is going on their third year of JV I believe, Hancock had to play JV only as well, plus there's a handful of other privates that could either support one or benefit from a switch. It's growing like wildfire in the midwest with so many small communities fading.

They've had some pretty good teams over the years, curious to see who gets it.

Would love to see this, I think it would be great for the smaller schools. It's growing all over the country as rosters shrink and rural communties/schools continue to fade. Since TSSAA already justifies having 12 in D2AAA and 18 in D2AA, I think they could easily approach similar numbers for an 8 man classification, especially if most of the existing 8 man teams would join.
