  1. If Ringold was involved that is funny. They have recruited MY KID. What a joke some of this is amazing how coaches point fingers, but given the same opportunity they would jump at a chance to get a difference maker on their team.
  2. ESPN should have stuck around for this one. #2 AND #5 for each team cancels one another so does Nevins and Stovall. This game will have some of the best skill players in the area. The difference will be at the QB position and team D as far as which team wins. Both teams are mirror images of the other at each position. I like Bradley's size on the line and the Kees skill players outside of those before mentioned. I say in double ot KEES 31 BEARS 30 and CAGLE will cut his GOAT chin, lol. CAN'T WAIT
  3. This is all crazy if TSSAA says he can play it is the 3rd time they have changed what they were investigating for. 1st it was paper not filled out correctly, which is true, 2nd Childress stated on interview it was about recruiting and 3rd now it is about sitting out the appropriate amount of games. TSSAA approved this kid to play to start the season and then was told they had made a mistake and should look into the situation more. I agree that the 1st and 3rd reasons above go hand in hand as far as territories are concerned and how much a kid would have to sit, but who is holding TSSAA responsible for approving the kid then going back and saying oh we made a mistake and now you have to loose your season because we ok'd this kid. I agree it looks shady on SM for checking that the kid lived in the zone, but the school board states the zones not the TSSAA and the board approved (zoned) him to go to this school. If TSSAA had overturned this ruling then they would have discredited themselves, so in know way was they going to do that, but I can guarantee you in the court of law with the TSSAA by-laws being well stated on who determines the zones, which is the school board, they(TSSAA) would have DEFINITELY lost this case. If a kid is given a hardship to attend a school then he should be given the opportunity to do what any other student at that school can do including athletics, band or whatever. How would you feel if you and your spouse split your kid was getting his life threatened and your kid was trying to get out of a bad environmental situation? There are a lot of kids in inner city CHATT. that are never going to make it to the age of 25 without getting shot, stabbed, or in jail and most of them don't care to get out of the situation they are in. And when a kid does make the effort to better himself, this happens and people starts throwing stones. DO YOU LIVE IN A GLASS HOUSE? Now in saying all this if SM was recruiting (which Childress alluded to), which is hard to prove, then they should get burned, but not for what the TSSAA has tried to get SM for. The crime does not fit the punishment in this case and the court of LAW would prove this. However, it is what it is and if I were the coach of SEQUATCHIE I would not have one starter on the field Friday Night. Legally SM is in the right, the kid is in the, but the coach of SM is not an honorable man and I would not give him the satisfaction of running the score up on my starters, or injuries, or suspensions do to fights. Just a thought.
  4. They will return more key starters than anyone in the district other than Bradley next year, they got some good talent in the soph./junior classes. It will be between them and Mcminn for 2nd behind Bradley, they will control the line of scrimmage in most games next year but need to change some players positions and adjust the offense to different sets and will be the most improved team in the district- MARK IT DOWN oh if they change the coaching philosophy a little.
  5. I LOOKED TO DVR IT ON ESPN U BUT IT IS NOT SHOWING THE GAME BEING ON, IT IS SHOWING SOME COLLEGE GAME. CAN ANYONE CONFIRM OR EXPLAIN? BRADLEY 38 CLEVELAND 24
  6. Yes sir 4 scores in the 3rd quarter is enough. Not for either team, just did not grow up being scared of what a team was gonna score against my team, and dont think any one should worry about it. You are suppose to try and score as much as possible but there is a point where respect comes into play. I take it they put that extra 7 on CCS with their starters? If so then thats classless, but you never start the game taking it easy on the opponent.
  7. WV gets the win 28-14, Wells runs for over 200 yards and coach keeps his job, Next year will be the year of the Mustang as they finish 2nd in the district and make the playoffs.
  8. I think you should go into every game with the intentions of hanging as many points on a team as possible. It is not water polo it is football and the other team has to stop you that is the mentality of a winning team not to go into a game worried about hurting someones feelings. Now if you get up on a team 45-0 and it is obvious you are superior then call the dogs off, but you should go into every game with intentions of beating the crap out of the other team. If you are in a fight do you punch the guy then say that is good and let him come back and knock you out or do you keep punching till you break his will? Every team should go into the game with intentions of breaking the other teams will, once you do that then the respectful thing to do is let up. SM scored 76 points last week but they only won the game by 4 scores, that is a respectable win. The same as a 28-0 win. REAL MEN WIN FOOTBALL GAMES, MAN UP TAKE THE CHALLENGE AND STOP THE TEAM FROM TAKING YOUR WILL, TAKE THEIRS.
  9. WOW, this kid has some serious speed the way he runs away from players that have the angles, what is his 40 time?
  10. Games to watch this week EAST HAMILTON plays RED BANK, EAST RIDGE plays CHATTANOOGA CENTRAL. East Ridge holds the tie breaker over East Hamilton. If EH loses and ER wins out ER will be 2nd in their district. If EH beats RB they will be 1st RB 2nd. This is a big week in this district.
  11. I have seen Ben Ogle and he is fantastic. Also, the kicker from Farragut is unbelievable, great hang time and distance on punts, kicks through the up-rights on kick-offs and if you get it to mid-field i would let him kick it. Both of these kids are WEAPONS and hopefully one or both of them will play at UT one day we need them!
  12. Central takes their licking why not Meigs? Cherokees 55 Meigs 0
  13. I think TSSAA was originally pointed toward SM for recruiting, but it is very difficult to prove such so they turned their attention to other means which are fact based to penalize SM. It is kind of like if you were a bad student in school and the teacher knew you cheated on the test and could not prove it, then she will keep digging at you until she can get you for the least little thing she can find. SM consider yourselves lucky your getting slapped on the wrist and not having the book thrown at you over this. TSSAA knows more but can not prove it, let the big dog rest or he will bite you. They will be like a hawk on your program for many years to come. With that said I hate that this happened to you guys as I had spoken very highly of you guys as becoming the new Riverdale, Alcoa, Brentwood Academy for the next 10 years. Kids want to play for winners and parents will help kids achieve their dreams, parents rent houses, move or whatever to allow their gifted kids to play at the elite level. The above mentioned teams have all had parents that sacrificed these things for their kids to play on these teams, the difference is the coaches of these teams knew how to get around the rules. It happens on many other teams to but it is done the right way where no questions can not be backed up by facts. I remember in the 90's when 1 kid from Chatt. moved to Riverdale solely to play for them and same year the best player from crossville/cookeville area just so happened to show up there to, everyone questioned it but it was all done legally. After there senior years the family's moved back to there home towns. There is MANY schools that have kids come in just because of their athletics, but they are told up-front by the coaches on how to handle it the correct way, seen 8 kids in the last year that I know 100% left their schools to go to others that would either give them a better chance of winning or a better chance for playing time. Signal Mountain is not even close to being the only team that has a kid that moved in for a sport. Heck I know 10 schools right now that has kids not zoned for them but they went about getting the kids into their schools the proper way. Good luck to you guys.
  14. Guys I was watching FOX 61 tonight "The Fifth Quarter" it came on at 10:30. They were talking about the SM situation and had an interview with Childress. The entire interview can be viewed (listened too) on FOX 61 website. Now from what I got out of it you guys are totally on the wrong issue. Childress said rumors had pointed TSSAA at SM because of a assistant coach from LFO had recently took a job at SM and had RECRUITED (he actually said) the kid in question. The part of the interview I heard, mentioned absolutely nothing about what you guys are talking about, TSSAA main focus seemed to be on the recruitment of this kid by an ex-LFO assistant. With everything you guys are argueing answer me one question- If the kid played all year at LFO I would not think it would matter because that is not a TSSAA school and they would have no jurisdiction over the athletes of a Georgia school and as that goes this would have been the first athletic record he would have had with SM in the state of Tennessee. RIGHT OR WRONG Not sure the that SM wants to stir much more up because it sounded like TSSAA gave a minor reason but has much more behind it not to mention he was asked about TSSAA looking into more than this one case both present and past.
  15. Who had the most to lose if none of this come about come play-off time? Red Bank or Greenville? Or was it a District foe that will lose in the 1st round or maybe a parent on SM team. I have heard of parents on my sons team wanting to pull the plug on kids that have moved in that are taking playing time from their kids, the problem if the parents do this is that all the kids they are questioning are legitimate and they don't really understand the re-precussions if they holler fox and it turns out to be a yorky. Todays politics goes beyond kissing a coaches butt and is really sad to see the different levels people will go to in hopes of gaining advantages over others. Also, BARB, you are a Greenville fan who has open enrollement so how can you say anything you guys can take who you want, kinda like the Yankees!
  16. Just because Lockerby made it to the big dance (as a college coach), don't mean he knows how to dance. That is true for many coaches, however. This week Cinderella leaves her slippers at Lockerby's house the Mustangs pull off the upset 88-87 over the Bears he still looses his job at WV at the end of the year, but Phillip Fulmer takes over at OLE MISS (Cutcliff old job) and hires Lockerby as OFFENSIVE GURU COORDINATOR ( When he is suppose to be a defensive coach!).
  17. I live about 60 miles from Signal Mountain. I don't have a horse in the race either way. I was watching Friday Night Football coverage on the news as I DVR and flip back and forth on multiple channels to get the most coverage. Week 1 it caught my attention how when the media would have coverage of Signal how they (especially channel 9) would refer to the very talented Signal rb as a "former LFO STAR RUNNING BACK...". The thing I have noticed funny is he has never been referred to as just Signal Mountain RB, the local sportscasters feel the need to refer to him as "Former LFO STANDOUT And current Signal Mountain RB". He has been spoke of in this manner since week 1 and every week after, DO YOU THINK THE LOCAL MEDIA GOT THEIR POINT ACROSS? I personally understand the rule for transfer students and sports and was curious if the boy had moved or what for him to be eligible to play. The sports news every friday night referring to him like that made me wonder if they were not pointing a finger or something because I felt like they were definently trying to let it be known that he was a transfer student. If i had not heard them refer to him like that every week I would have never known where the kid came from. Kids are going to go to a school where they can win if they are good at a certain sport and have the chance to go to whatever school. Some parents will do whatever it takes to put their kids in the best opportunity available, That does not mean the school is recruiting them, the winning program is attracting kids not so much the coaches going out and recruiting the kids. Back in the 90's kids were going from as far as Crossville, Jackson, Alabama, Chattanooga and Columbia to play at Riverdale for a ring and exposure, but Rankin did not go looking for them they came looking for him. In saying this it is the coaches responsibility to take care of his team and to make sure all t's are crossed and all i's have a dot!
  18. Cleveland QB is the real deal he will run through your D like a bowling ball, he will lay the wood he just dont have the guys that can catch his ball, he throws it too hard.
  19. Chad is a great competitor and deserves all the hype he really puts it all out there. Watched this game this week and it had some of that old hate your neighbor, smash mouth, big hitting, atmosphere. Mcminn is really looking good right now playing very physical on both sides of the ball seen them play Farragut and they got a shot to make a run in the playoffs depending on the draw. As for the refs, Mcminn had 15 penalties for 150 yards and had a interception called back on a ghost call and a about a 80 yard long play that eventually lead to a score for Cleveland that was a no call when the Mcminn DE had his helmet ripped off and slung 20 yards down the field. Had those calls been/ not been called then Cleveland would have been ran out of town. I didnt see any home cooking this week just a tough Mcminn team. My prayers will go out to the 2 young men for Cleveland I heard it was pretty bad for the one kid and I feel really bad for him and his family. Get well soon son.
  20. I have seen both teams play and the key will be the linebackers for Cleveland. I dont think it will be a blow out but if Mcminn can get their speedsters to the backers of Cleveland then they will run away with this one. Mcminn must spy the QB on D, get the ball to their speedsters in open field and Cleveland must not give up the big play and blitz the QB. Should be a great game to watch this week. Cherokees 38 Raiders 27.
  21. Mcminn will be the best team Walker Valley has faced, Cherokees 42 Mustangs 17.
  22. Mcminn County - Shazzon Bradley with the Eagles Bradley County- Linebacker? I think his name was Dale something played at UT in the 80's and went on to play at Dallas. Jefferson County- Had a linebacker that played in the mid 80's high school that knocked Shazzon out cold on the opening kick-off in the first round of the playoffs in 87 I think, he went on to play many years for the Patriots. Maybe someone can fill in these names.
