  2. Any updates on Farragut and Bearden?
  3. Cak over North 25-11 25-15 25-8
  4. South had better watch out. Catholic is a lot better than people may think. They are very well coached and scrappy. Hope they get it done.
  5. Truth I owe you an apology. Wrongly accused you of something you did not do and for that I am sorry. I got sucked into an argument and my passionate fan side showed up. That is why I have not posted for a while. I needed to cool off for sure. Ad for the game tonight....No excuses. CAK played bad and catholic didn't. Truth be told I felt Catholic should have taken it. I will leave it at that.
  6. Set 5 CAK 16 CATHOLIC 14 Barn Burner here to night. Both teams played amazing colleyball.
  7. Catholic over GP in 4 CAK over Carter in 3 Catholic vs CAK getting ready to go.
  8. Truth, where do you get of saying I am arrogant? I am pretty sure I said " I hope we meet at state" big difference than saying we WILL meet at state. I never claimed we would get there. I hope and pray every day that our girls will stay healthy and play their best to have that chance again. We like all the teams in our district have a tough road to state as several teams are so evenly matched. And if you read my earlier comments I gave credit to the Dyersburg coach and players. They played great that night. They saw the deficiencies and capitalized. That's what good teams do. I forgot about the hatred, bashing and mudslinging that goes on in these boards so let me recant my earlier statement and say. I HOPE we can get thru districts playing against great teams. I HOPE we can get thru regional's playing against great teams. I HOPE can get thru sub state playing against great teams to Hopefully make it to state. Then I HOPE that Dyersburg can do the same so there can be a rematch. I haven't seen them play enough to now if they are really good or not. I know CAK did not play at the level they are capable of that night in the tournament. Dyersburg in their eyes may have played awful as well. I merely stated I would like to see a rematch. The results could be the same. I dont know. Your the one that read the statement wrong and decided to bash me. I hope this statement will be politically correct enough for you! I never claimed to be an expert on volleyball so when I made the statement about setting. I just repeated what I was told by a fan that knows a lot more than I. Sorry, I bow to your superior intellect on this matter. I am a fan of CAK, everybody is a fan of somebody. So what? I have and would never say that they were the best team in the state nor would I come on here and bash other teams or COACHES like others seem to want to do. I give credit where credit is due. When Catholic beat us I thought they were the better team that night. They played fantastic and were well coached. They flat out played us But as fan I refuse to say that they are better than CAK. Thats why we play the games. I HOPE we can beat them at districts them IF we make it far enough to play them. Im sure you will find away to twist that to. Sorry for anything I may have said to offend you or other posters here. I hope that I have amended any atrocities I may have committed on Coach T! Done
  9. CAK was flat exhausted in that match (not an excuse). Dyersburg did out hustle them in the first set. But if you remember CAK had the lead in the second when their setter had a medical problem and had to be pulled from the game half way thru. When your setter goes down and a girl that has not set all year has to take over setting the 6'6" girl, its hard enough to set a 5'9"girl but unless you have practiced setting a big she will be rendered useless. CAK also had to put in a player that does not yet have the experience to play in big games at the Varsity level. Dyersburg targeted her as soon as he came int the game. With all those factors you get the results that you saw. The only two teams i saw that could overcome those issues were playing for the gold championship that night. Compliments to Dyersburg coach and players as they saw what had transpired and capitalized on the situation and ultimately came from behind to win the second set. If the roles had been reversed do you still think Dyersburg would have won that game? As I said before, I hope we meet at state ad see if the results are the same. It would be a good match either way.
  10. Dyersburg played well at the Brentwood tournament for sure. I would like to see a rematch against CAK though. Both teams were exhausted and CAK lost their setter midway thru the second set with the lead. But credit to Dyersburg, they rose to the challange and won the trophy. Heres to hoping we meet at state for the rematch. It will be a good game.
  11. Brentwood beat Siegel for gold. Dyersburg beats CAK for silver.
  12. Scared? Heck yeah. You should be to. Most of the public schools in our are have really good sports programs and traditions. Sports is not what is driving families away from publics. The government of this country is ruining the public school system. Overcrowding, underpiad teachers that don't care, violence, lack of funding for arts programs and the poor education standards is what is driving the parents to putting their kids in privates not the sports programs. 90 percent of all high school athletes will never play a collegiate sport. It is a fact that kids that graduate from a private school are better prepared for college than a kid that graduates from the public schools of this country. Do some privates have better athletes? Maybe. When a college coach recrutes a kid the first thing they look at is grades. If a kid is going to play sport in college they better be prepared because the work load that will be place on them when they arrive is a very difficult hill to climb. Practice, classes, games and more practice. Privates just do a better job of getting the kids ready to handle that pressure. Can a kid from a public school excel in college? Of course! But the average student will be better prepared coming out of a private. Also realize that the majority of privates are religious based and most of these parents are wanting their children to get an education based on biblical perspectives. When you ask if we are scared of the public schools we are supposed to send our kids to i say you are darn right I am scared. Not of the sports programs but what they are learning or not learning at that school. When we made the decision to put our child in a private it had nothing to do with sports and everything to do with not wanting this sad government administration telling us what we could or could not teach our child. That is why we choose private over publics, not because the sports programs are so much better.
  13. 6'6" girl started in the seventh grade and could hardly dribble the ball and the other girl has been going to the school since preschool as did 2 of her other sisters. Not sure how those two girls strengthen your argument. Might i also add that they are both on a basketball team at a private school that has yet to win a state championship. Have you ever thought that some privates choose to play with publics because the competition is stronger? If you think about it, the majority of privates in the state of TN have never come close to competing for any kind of championship. why do you think Webb wins so many championships. Its because there are not that many talented teams in their division. Most of today's elite high school athletes did not get better because of the training they received at their school. It came from training they received during summer club or aau programs and training on their own. Their are just as many elite players at public level as there are at the private. Great programs aren't worried about publics vs privates. They believe they can beat anybody. They say if you want to get better compete against the best competition you can. The privates around here got better over the years because they wouldnt settle for playing pushovers all the time. In a way the great public programs helped the privates get better. Now that they are great programs and now you want to kick them back down in the basement because they scare you now. Make your kids better play us. Don't run away from us.
  14. Great game tonight by the two bluff rivals. The results were almost exactly opposite of their last meeting on Sept 3. That night the Irish dropped a close 1st set only to win the next three the to take the match. Tonights meeting was the complete opposite. CAK drops a close first set 22-25 then proceeded to win the next three 25-21, 25-16 and 25-14. These two teams want to beat each other so bad that on any given night I think the W will go to the team tha wants it the most. Great games on both nights. It is going to be a fun district final.
  15. Yep! Your right. We used the publics resources, courts, fields and equipment until the second grade when we as a family decided that the government had no idea what it was doing with education system in this country. Before our child showed any athleticism we decided we wanted better for our child. Check the rosters of most of these sports teams and you will see that almost all the kids on these teams has attended the school since elementary school. Im sure you will say they were recruited in daycare. There are a few at some pay to play privates that have transferred in during middle and high school. But not anymore than any of the public's have. So that argument doesn't hold water either. So basically you are saying privates play public's so they have a better chance to win? Have a little more pride in your program than that.
  16. Asking parents to spend thousands of dollars to have their child play at your tiny school that because of a stupid multiplier, you will have to compete with much larger schools that have abroader pool to draw talent from is not a very good recruiting tool! Three or four private schools have some success and everybody gets all upset. This argument has no merit. I would understand if you were having to play against Webb, Ensworth or Brentwood Academy. Those schools offer full scholarships to players. Grace, Cak and Catholic do not. Parents pay for the chance at a higher education for their children at these schools. Not sure how paying for an education makes a kid a better athlete. Last checked hard work and practice make a better athlete. I guess the next argument is that all privates have better facilities. I don't recall CAK or Grace having huge weight rooms or football stadiums or fancy basketball gyms like a lot of the public schools have in this area. Correct me if I am wrong but isn't Alcoa getting a new jumbotron? Don't remember seeing one of those at Grace, Catholic or CAK. Just because a person can pay for their children to go to school in a different zone doesnt make it a better sports program. Cant kids in Blount Cnty pay a fee to go to the school of their choice? Should they have to be relegated to only playing each other? Why is there no outrage about that? The thought that these schools that play publics has an unfair advantage is ludicrous. There are just as many championships, if not more, won by public's as there is won by "pay to play" privates. Sounds like a lot of jealous people trying to clear the way for their uncompetitive programs to have a better chance for success. Let it go for crying out loud!
  17. CAK has a player committed to play basketball at major D1 school next year and where was she this weekend? Playing Volleyball with her high school team at the Dorman tournament. I am sure their kids all over the country doing the same thing. Why? What do they gain by doing so? Nothing! Everybody knows that club sports is where the you get noticed by colleges now days. For some kids high school sports is is about relationships and life long memories. I guess it is all about what you want out of your high school experience. I don't think you can fault a player for following their heart in the decision to play or not.
  18. Catholic played well against CAK. After dropping the first set they won the next three. All sets were close. Catholic is very well coached and their girls are very scrappy. CAK will be strong by the time districts come around as they work out the kinks and the younger key players get some game experience. 6'6" Hooper was just released to play after suffering a concussion mid summer and missed all preseason practice and games. Catholic was her second game of the season. It will be interesting to see how they progress. They do have 5 seniors and it is still early. Farragut looks like the cream of the crop. The look like the best team in Knoxville right now.
  19. Farragut wins 2nd 25-17 and 3rd 15-7.
  20. Cak is playing Farragut right now. Won first set 25-22.
