Waverly really struggled in the opening round. If it was your first time seeing them play, I can understand why you are saying this. But.... you gotta go hard every game, or it's peace out.

Do people not understand that defense is huge in girl's basketball? These teams do NOT match up well. Stone will set the pace of this game. Stone beat Waverly because they took what Waverly does best (set a composed pace) and uped it. I still think they lose, but will be a single digit margin.

There is a lot of tradition in the tourney. Waverly hasn't been here in the last 15 years. Nerves are to be expected. Congrats are a great season tigerettes!

Yes, one overtime. My heart stopped on a missed layup at the buzzer for Waverly that would have sealed regulation. Macon had some momentum during OT, but seemed lost with 1:00 left, possession and down by one.

Good call on Waverly making it to state. The relentless composure this group of girls has is incredible.

Waverly is hard to defend because what they do to win on any given night is unpredictable, now more than ever. Waverly's advantage is they are hosting, but will still be close game.

Rachel, you are a class act. I only saw McEwen play once this year, at home agaisnt Houston Co., and I was thoroughly impressed with your basketball smarts, skills and determination. Props to you and your team this year. Good luck with your future endeavors. As for papatiger, lay off the girl. You know she is the center. Stop taking low blows at high school players! Especially one's that have way more class than yourself.

Can Waverly or Page win in substate?

Having only seen Houston Co and McEwen play, I say they both will win in the opening round of region play. Both very tough single A teams.

This is impressive. Marshall County sent Forrest and Cornersville a couple years ago.. and Marshall county won state the year before that. Imagine if certain schools were combined.

Waverly will have to play a lot better than they did in the region final to beat Macon Co. Doesn't Macon have size? Something Waverly doesn't have.

This will be an epic game. Lewis Co beat a younger Waverly team last year in the region semi's. I think Waverly will come out pretty strong in this rematch. It will be a one or two point game. The key will be stopping the outside shooting of both teams. The one that allows the least amount of three pointers wins!!

WC has no inside game and two above-average guards. Yea, Rice hit 33 points against McEwen and practically won the game for them, singlehandedly, but this was well above his ppg for the year. I don't see Wayne Co being a huge threat in state this year. Next year they will be a very strong single-A team.

All that holding the ball the entire fourth period to make it through the region jazz is going to come back and bite Lewis Co in the rear on Saturday. Lewis Co does have a solid team, but to hold the ball when you have a one point lead is ultimately ridiculous. I'll give it to them though, they did do a good job of keep away and they hit like 15/16 free throws to win.

Not that it really matters because Marshall Co. and Spring Hill are going to "make it to" final. But no one is talking about the Mont. Central/Page game. Mont. Central was a much better team. Page was a very very weak team. Don't know how they compare to Marshall or Spring Hill but I hope MC ad SH are tons better or Creek Wood will manhandle them. Trevor Moore had 4 fouls one min into the 3rd period, which is very uncharacteristic of him. He fouled out in the 4th on a bogus call, and the ref was smiling when he dramaticly sat him down. At this point it was 37-37. When Moore wasn't in the game no one stepped up and led for MC. I believe every player on MC had at least 3 fouls and some had 4. Ridiculous officiating. Either way Creek Wood and Spring Hill should play for the final.

It's really unpredictable at this point. Should be two phenonmenal games on Monday night. How much better are Hickman and Lewis than Marshall?

Camden has no bench. They play 6 players. 4 of their starting 5 are very good players. They are a high scoring teams and have 2 very solid scoring threats. Point guard is college material. All five starters are seniors. They can hit 3's but if that is not working they will drive a lot and they have 2 average post players. If they get on a scoring spree, game over.
