Was waiting for someone to start this topic. Who you got ? I don't really know much about either team but heard Dresden put a whippin on McCracken County at the jamboree Friday night. Did Dresden play their starters or JV team? If it was starters that's pretty impressive cause Mc is the largest classification in KY.

Yes they did. Not making excuses but it was the last regular season game with several starters out to rest up. But we got smoked none the less. Worked out ok in the end with a silver ball though.

Dresden in 2012 went to the 2A state championship with four or five sophomores starting all season. Possible a couple more. Granted we had a group of studs in the senior class and some very good juniors. They also got smoked by the best team money could buy that year in Friendship Christian. Senior leadership is important but I don't think you have to have nine seniors starting on each side of the ball to win it all. The 2016 Dresden class started playing peewee together and didn't lose anyone in that core group of nine or ten kids throughout their years at Dresden. That doesn't happen often.

Sheesh this UC cheating accusation thread is getting old. Line up and play them! Like stated by Falcon flyer they are probably the favorites in our area to make a deep run but they can also be beat on any given Friday. If they make it to state I'll be a huge UC fan for that game. Go Lions!

Totally agree with this statement. UC will be a powerhouse in 1A. Just sheer numbers alone with give Ensworth the upper hand. Back in the day Dresden would play Henry County in 7 on 7 practice. We had the mostly the same boys playing both sides of the ball, HC had a new group every series. We looked decent against them for a couple series then we were wore out and couldn't hang with them. I see Ensworth just completely wearing down UC by halftime. Like cartman said that's just my opinion. This will also be the reason UC is battle tested come playoff time. Playing up only helps.

Huntingdon & Riverside should be the favorites. Absolutely, murderers row of a region.

I've been reading and typing this mess for 10+ years now and I have to say the dog and pony show is a true rivalry. Those folks really dislike each other. Very entertaining I must add.

Hopefully, I'll get to catch a game this year. Haven't seen them play since my nephew was a senior. That was 3 years ago.

I hope that keeps up. We always have skill players that match up well with most top tier teams. The trenches is what worries me most years.

I live in Florida now but I'm able to keep up with the local teams well through radio or live streaming online. I give twinkle radio (WCMT) heck because Paul is bind and mixes up teams and names like there is no tomorrow. I still get to listen to local games which keeps me updated well enough. He usually has people in the booth that I wish he would let lead the broadcast but he owns the radio station so he calls the shots. The McKenzie games are good, Huntingdung is good (too much homerisiums whining about calls at times). NFHS is garbage!!!!

Just speaking from when we had to deal with UC and Huntingdung back in 2012 & 2013 if they still run the veer type offence Dresden doesn't have the size to stop it. You have to out score them which is virtually impossible because they keep the ball so much. I'm not saying it cant be done but Hodge had some studs back in that era and didn't get it done. Union City beat us by 10 in regular season and we dropped three TD's. Then we lost to Humboldt in the playoffs who lost to UC by 6 in the semis. UC won the gold that year handily. I'm pulling for the Lion's but like every year the west side of the state will be tough.

I'm saying you would have Westview and "Eastview", Dresden even more dominant in girls basketball. Not taking anything away from what Weakley County has accomplished in the past. Actually, Dresden might win a girls championship with Gleason's help.

Been hearing the school consolidation rumors again in Weakley County. Greenfield and Sharon kids going to Westview and Gleason / Dresden in one school. They tried this many years ago but only shut down one high school in Palmersville. They eventually shut down Sharon also. This time it would make more sense as Westview has lost many students in the last 5-10 years. Even with consolidation Dresden might be 2A and Westview back to 3A. Doubt doing that would make either school dominant in football. Girls basketball would be greatly improved.
