  1. Hey goobers, I appreciate you doing that just for me. Makes me feel special. I am not referring to just this one topic, it just seems that you very rarely say anything positive about the SC program. I am wondering if you are Lou Holtz. I just think the SC nation has enough haters that we do not need to feed them. Our district is not tough compared to others but it is far better than the one DB and SHHS have to deal with. I know this year the conference is down but the past few years, I think JC, MW, and SD were respectable teams and Cherokee was not bad. If you look at Maryville's district, they have West but Bearden, Farragut, WB, Heratige, and LC were nothing special. I know you are going to say that Bearden and FArragut beat us in the playoffs but that was four and five years ago and anyone with Devrin Young was going to be good. I am not saying that our district is tougher than Maryville's, I am just saying that maybe SC had something to do with winning all those games and they did not win just by default.
  2. Goobers89 - You might be the worst fan in the history of high school sports.
  3. Not sure who they are or even if that number is correct, it is just what I heard at work yesterday. Against Morristown West, we had several starters standing on the sidelines with cruches or walking boots so I guess it is those same guys because I do not remember seeing any others leave the game.
  4. Come on Rebels, I know you guys are just having a little fun but I seriously hope you all do not think the Sevier County faithful thinks we have a shot in you know where. I heard today that we are not getting any of our injured back so that means 8 starters out. If we were full strength, Maryville would probably beat us by 30 but without starters it could be 50.
  5. Well no one is giving Sevier County much of a chance this Friday night, and rightfully so. With Maryville's recent history and the way they play mistake free assignment football, they are very hard to beat. Reality tells me that the masses are correct and Maryville will win this game comfortably but that little optimistic man inside of me keeps saying "it is high school football and anything can happen." However, those anythings that can happen do not usually happen against Maryville. But as my good friends from "Little Texas" said "theres a first time for everything." Just wishful thinking
  6. Seats about 7-8 thousand I think. Maybe more
  7. I hope it is a good game. It is just hard to say when Maryville is the opponent. It will go 1 of 3 ways...1. Maryville blows SC out (seems to be the most likely according the ones in the know) 2. SC hangs in there for a while but Maryville pulls away in the 4th for a comfortable 2-3 touchdown win (what most SC realistic fans hope for) or 3. SC plays way better than they have all year and Maryville plays uncharacteristically bad (which they do not do) and SC wins a close one in the final seconds. I would like to choose #3 but my realistic nature hopes for at least #2. Either way, if SC comes out and plays hard, I will be okay with the score. It is high school football and what more can you ask for than 100% effort.
  8. Friday night SC had 3 seniors play on offense, QB 1 OL and 1WR. On defense we had 4, 1 DT, 1 DE and 1 LB. The LB only played about 1 quarter because he is hurt. SC is very young. The Pope kid is playing LB and could be very good if he keeps working hard. SC plays about 5-6 sophomores on both sides of the ball.
  9. I go to church with several of the SC players and coaches and I can tell you that those guys have nothing but respect for Maryville. I actually asked some of them on Sunday about the Burgess kid and they all said that it was his decision and they respected it. No trash talk or anger toward him. A lot of our kids still go to his dads gym and workout in the mornings so they cannot be too mad about him leaving. It was like 5 years ago. I have heard Coach Brewer say in response to scheduling Maryville that if you have a desire to ever be the best, you have to know what the best looks like. I know the two SC posters on here are just having a little fun with trash talking bit Maryville has nothing but 100% respect from the Smoky Bear Nation. One thing Maryville can count on is that the Smoky Bears will play hard and leave it all on the field win lose or blown out. It is all they know. Cannot wait to see how far we have come and how far we have to go to get on that level.
  10. 280! He looks like he runs more like a guy that is 200. He can fly. I might have to skip the Sevier Co. - Mo. West game and go to this one just to see that collision. I have not seen GP play yet this year but I know they always schedule weak teams so their record looks good at the end of the year. I guess this will give us a small idea of how good they are although no one will look good against Fulton so maybe it will not be a good indication.
  11. Very true, Fulton is HUGE and fast. I am not sure I have seen a team like Fulton in several years if ever. I have only seen them on the news but wow they look impressive.
  12. "I wonder if Fulton is going to have an answer for the big running back from GP this week. All the speed in the world does not help when you have to stop a bolder is rolling right at you." That has been the question that I have been asked all week at work by some GP fans. I know GP is ready to make a statement this week and the statement is that speed does not help when you are getting pounded. So I guess the question will be answered this week, which is better, speed or size. I personally am going with speed.
  13. hey whyisthat, I have never seen you post before but I like the way you did here. Not just beause you said good things about SC but because you used actual facts to back up you point of view. I think posts like yours are what coacht was and is designed for. Posts like mine not so much. No joking, good stats
  14. Maybe I can gain some house cred here. First off, the passing game was off so instead of staying with 4 wide outs, they went to an "I" and ran the ball almost the entire 2nd half which is taking what the defense gives you. Second, the tailback in question ran outside most of the night and the fullback ran up the middle. Just a bad night on offense but I hope they get it corrected in a hurry.
  15. You obviously did not watch the game Friday night and you know nothing about football. The only correct statement you made was that SC played very poorly on offense. Your reasoning as to why was totally off and your comments about certian players needing to get the ball in different areas is completely off base if you actually paid attention to how many times SC ran the ball up the middle with the tailback.
  16. Truth is truth. And I do not even know what street cred is. I work in an office and live in a home. I am not on the streets.
  17. I saw where someone said the players were saying the "star / beast" was only playing for himself. Why do you think the Sevier County players were glad to get rid of a 2 year starter. He told our guys he would rather play for a losing team as long as he got his 20 carries a game and got a scholarship to play college running back. He was a cancer for the Smoky Bears unless he got his way. Glad he is your problem now. True colors are starting to shine.
  18. coloradojoe, I do see ME being much improved but I would say that the SC defense with 2 weeks of practice will have their tackling issues all worked out. SC 56-14 with running clock the entire 2nd half
  19. ok, now I am going to try and set the record straight about Maryville (thank goobers89...you are an idiot). We have the utmost respect for Quarles, his amazing staff, and his teams that keep on doing it year after year. There is a reason we scheduled Maryville and that is because we want to play the best teams around and Maryville is the best team around no dowubt. Our other two non district games are Bearden and Dobyns Bennett...not to shabby. George Quarles and his staff are really good and knowledgable, other wise kids would not want to go there in the first place and their parents would not send them there. I have gone to many of their playoff games after the SC seson has ended and many times they have beaten teams way more talented than them...lets see, DB, Whitehaven, Riverdale, siegel just to name a few. Now to goobers89 and scbears, please stop getting on here and making the SC people look rediculously ignorant and jealous. If you are a true fan act like on of us. At SC we cheer for our team without cheering against other teams...that is how coach Brewer wants it. We do have class and our kids play hard every game. I am excited about playing Mo. East, then DB, then Mo. West, and then I will get excited about playing Maryville. Hope we win all of them but reality says that a couple of those (DB, Maryville) have proven to be thorns in our side so we will just have to wait and see.
  20. Can we please set the record straight for all of the WB people who have nothing better to do than troll other peoples threads starting stuff. First off, the Otis kid was a very good player for us. He would have been our best linebacker and the only returning starter in the defensive front seven. and yes he was a good running back for us, he was one of four getting time with the first unit in the spring. however, I do not think he was our best running back bcause he is just a large bolling ball running in a straight line with very little moves (just my opinion). I have talked to sveral of the coaches at Sevier county and they are very understanding of his wanting to go and play under his brother and are happy for him...he is a good kid according to them. I have also talked to several of the players and most of them are fine with him leaving but a couple were mad that he lied to them about going and then did not have the decency to man up and tell them, they just found out through the grape vine (coacht) that he was at WB. I think they were bothered that thier friend and teammate just did it that way. Maybe the two idiots that keep getting on here talking trash about him are high school kids that are angry with the way he moved, not sure I am just guessing by the immaturity of their post that they are still in high school. They are definitely in high school either physically or emotionally for sure. So to wrap it up, yes Otis was a very good player for us, yes he is missed at linebacker (anytime we lose a started at SC, they are missed because we are not Maryville where we have five or six just waiting for their chance), and yes the coaches and most people in the know are very happy for Otis and wish him the best of luck, and finally NO, the majority of the people at SC do not share the same opinion as the two that keep coming on here and talking trash ( I am not even sure that they like SC a whole lot). So can we please put the Otis thing to rest, he is gone from SC, he is at WB, he is a good player, and we are glad he is happy. Thank you and sorry I got the whole suspension thing wrong, just listened to the wring info...my bad.
  21. to my understanding it was 16 players and 10 of them were starters. they were not all drinking but they were at a party the night before a practice so they are all suspended for the first 2 games. looks like the Bulldogs will be able to cruise to 1-0. my pick Bearden 35-10
  22. With TWO players that most schools never get and the few lucky schools get to have once in a lifetime gone, the Dobyns-Bennett Indians need to go ahead and start trying on the NET runner-up hat to make sure the sizes are correct for next year and years to come. Science Hill will gladly take the reigns as the NET powerhouse. Great Job D-B on being the flagship for NET but all things come and go and your time has gone.
  23. Just for the record, I couldn't care less who wins any of these games becasue I am not directly involoved with any high school programs. I just love to watch good high school games regardless of teams playing. The only thing I like more than watching good high school games is posting something silly on coacht and watching all of these people go absolutely out of their minds...it is hilarious. Thank you for helping have one of the funnest weeks in a long time...good luck to all teams and hope no one gets injured. Yipper Skipper it is the Zipper
  24. silly me governers91, I was under the false assumption that special teams were part of the game. My bad, well that changes everything for me now. WB beat Farragut and DB only beat Farragut becasue they gave the game away and we beat WB so I guess we could beat DB in round two if DB can get to round 2. Don't worry, Jefferson County will be there.
  25. Floyd - Fred. Sorry I am not up on my DB stadium names or exactly how to spell one of there players names. People in Kingsport think the rest of us should bow down to them and I am not standing for it anymore. I will be the only one on here laughing when it is all said and done. I guess my Jefferson County pride and confidence is just as well understood on here as some other schools but you will believe soon enough. And just remember you heard it here first from the Zipper.
