  1. I agree, Barney. I don't have much respect for kids who quit, and I hope the exodus of players from the Heritage roster stops now. We had that problem my Senior year but our numbers never got as low as Heritage's are now. If I was at that school and not on the football team trying to help turn things around, I would feel bad. I don't understand these kids who would rather play on their phones and PlayStations than do something meaningful.
  2. I wouldn’t get caught up in this sky is falling nonsense. There’s no way Heritage won’t have a team at ANY point this year, next year, or in the future. Numbers might be low and they might not be good, but they’ll have a team.
  3. Honestly, Lebanon @ Trousdale County should be an EXCELLENT game. It was a barn burner last year, and both teams are improved this season. That would be my pick.
  4. You're dead on with both points!! The QB has a TON of upside, and this frees up the old QB to do his thing all over the field. If the offense comes together, the Burros could be hard to beat around October
  5. If Hillsboro can compete with BA, that will show me that they're a legit contender to actually win 5A.
  6. Wow. That is a severe (no pun intended) beating. I am not sure if that says more about Central or SC...or maybe a little of both
  7. The 5 Star Preps Top 15 is flawed. Central will be better than West, Sevier County, Bearden and Webb for sure, and all of those teams are on the list
  8. Hillsboro probably has the best shot out of any Metro team to bring home a gold ball, but I don't see them being able to beat Catholic/Central/Oak Ridge from the East.
  9. I agree. Way back in the day, my senior season had a lot of challenges and I learned more from that year than any other. A lot of guys didn't care to stick it out but that fact made it even more special for the ones who did. It says a lot about their character as well.
  10. A wise older man that I once coached with called those boys “ERW’s.” Eat Ride Watch
  11. Never thought I would see the day when a KCHS lineman did more talking than playing...go figure
  12. I don't think you'll ever see Maryville become a program in turmoil. But even if you did, you'd still love them just the same. Trust me, I know from experience
  13. Heard Alcoa controlled the scrimmage (or whatever you want to call it) pretty thoroughly. That's bad news for 3A this season, but in other breaking news, water is wet. The only question is: will the ring say "15-0" or "14-1?"
  14. Has cigarette smoking gone away? One look at the profits of Phillip Morris says "NO!" Smoking is one of the most harmful things one could do for their health, and has been proven to lead to death, yet people light up every day. On the other hand, HS football has NO proven link to long-term harm...so why would the sport shrivel up and die? It won't.
  15. Football will be just fine. We will NEVER see a world without football, and that's the truth. Getting in your car and driving down the road is dangerous, yet people have their kids do it every day. You can't live in bubble wrap, and I believe that enough kids will always want to play for football to survive. The game is too important, it means too much to people, and it's just too big to completely go away.
  16. If I remember correctly, he also abandoned the run with #22 and #24 too quickly as well. Thank goodness he thought it was a good idea to have Jennings throw the ball. I have always said that I can't be too mad at Shad for what he's done at WB because he sure helped out on that cold November night in 2013
  17. Thanks for the news, HTV. It’s not the news I was hoping for, but I was afraid that it wasn’t good based on what everyone was saying.
  18. I will say that this particular “Coach Bash” is probably more warranted than most.
  19. For someone like me who had to move to Middle TN, it’s the closest to home I can get!
  20. Thanks for the info. That's so weird. I know Maryville has had some under the radar unpaid assistants in the past five years or so but he didn't ring a bell to me either.
  21. Any update on whether or not the Dobyns-Bennett coach was actually at Maryville?
  22. Powell beat Halls in the District title game. Powell will host Farragut and William Blount will host Halls in the first round of the Region tournament.
  23. A lot of love for Beech is a little surprising. Not much seems to be expected from Hillsboro, either. I would have expected the Burros to get some Top 5 mentions as they enter their second year under Fitzgerald. Should be a fun year.
  24. My source was wrong, then! I appreciate the correction. My apologies
