  1. I'm confused, what exactly is the point of this thread? If it's to talk about Greeneville football, then why would it be a surprise if a Greeneville fan (barb) posted in it?
  2. Team A would be Brighton and Team B would be Smyrna, right? And I agree with you as well...this definitely goes to show you that records don't always tell the full story of how good a particular team is.
  3. That would be a favorable district for Catholic to be in. I can't see them finishing worse than second on a regular basis.
  4. I think Signal Mountain will definitely be a contender this season. They've got a high-powered offense and a very good quarterback returning. I'm not saying that they will win a state championship, but I think they have a shot.
  5. No top ten, but my top five is as follows: 1. Greeneville 2. Giles Co. 3. Signal Mountain 4. Lexington 5. Maplewood
  6. Although the post makes a lot of good points, I have to play devil's advocate and say that a lot of fans are on here simply because they're curious about where Vic is going to play football. Vic is a tremendously talented athlete and will be a big asset to whichever school that he attends this August.
  7. I can't make a prediction about the future, but I think that Grace had the potential to beat both Alcoa and Austin East last season, which is saying a lot. That would be an extremely tough challenge to face year in and year out though.
  8. This thread has been oddly silent the last couple of days...is Vic at Fairview for sure?
  9. That field looks excellent!! They really did a good job with it. Congrats to MHS, I'm sure the kids are excited
  10. BA is a Division II school however...they just do their own thing
  11. Although I definitely see where you are coming from, private schools do not select students solely based on athletic ability. Generally, if one has the necessary money and grades, they will be admitted. Many kids go to private schools for the education and are far from athletic, yet these kids still count towards a school's multiplier. I also would have to say that the financial aspect is a challenge, rather than a benefit, for private schools. Private school tuition is extremely expensive, and so are the personal trainers that you mention. Many parents do not possess the financial means to afford this, and this significantly cuts down the pool of kids from which a private school can draw. Also, I cannot see how it is a disadvantage for public schools to have to take students who are on welfare. One's financial standing does not correlate with athletic ability.
  12. Glad I could help, 2priceless. I have to agree with you that $500 a year is definitely a bargain. Also, in respose to the statement that "The difference is that the majority of their students are zoned for the school whereas at private schools everyone pays regardless of where they live." Wouldn't that be an advantage for the open enrollment public schools? They have a pool of kids that they will automatically get, whereas privates have to rely on tuition students to make up their entire enrollment. Private schools are already "penalized" for possessing the same advantage that open enrollment schools enjoy by being subject to the 1.8 multiplier. Furthermore, tuition for private schools can also be quite expensive, especially when compared to the $500 that Alcoa charges. If anyone has an advantage under this system, it's open enrollment schools.
  13. That would be Harrison Smith, a safety from Notre Dame who was drafted by the Vikings in the first round of this year's draft. He played at Knoxville Catholic High School
  14. For what it's worth, this is straight from the AHS website: http://www.ahs.alcoaschools.net/Common/SchoolArea/HandbookPrint.asp?PolicyID=26201 "The tuition fee required of all students residing outside the boundaries for the 2011-2012 school year will be $500.00."
  15. howdoitknow2- Would you place a Fairview team with Wharton over Alcoa or CAK from the east?
  16. My prediction is that they keep the current 6 class format, yet drop the multiplier down some.
  17. Although that's definitely a rather odd omission, I have to believe that we would have heard something if Prevo was no longer a Rebel.
  18. Based on what I've seen in the playoffs, my vote has to go to Lexington
  19. My prediction is that Dobyns-Bennett will be one of the best teams in 6A football this upcoming season. I'll be surprised if the Indians do not make a serious run.
  20. If he moves, it will be a bona fide change of residence by his legal guardian, so he'll be eligible at whichever school he ends up moving to.
  21. Well, let's be realistic. We all know that if he is going to a Blount County school, it won't be William Blount or Heritage
  22. Do any of you Rebel or Red Devil fans know the game time for this one? I can't find it anywhere online. This should be a fun game to watch, and I'd like to drop by and see it. Thanks for your help!
