Pretty sure James Franklin could have gotten a speeding ticket in his golf cart when Gaulden got the wind knocked out of him in the championship game. Didn't know a golf cart could get from the 50 to the goal line that quickly.
Teams from WilCo going to Music City 7-on-7 are Independence, Ravenwood, BA, Fairview, and Page.
Ravenwood is also hosting their own tournament on July 20 which will have Centennial, Brentwood, and Page - along with 10 other teams.
I saw Franklin beat Goodpasture last night in the Ezell-Harding tournament. Hunter Nelson hit a clutch 3-pointer with 3 seconds in regulation to send the game to overtime. Early in the year, but the Rebels showed the ability to win a tight ball game - 12 ties in the second half. Kyle Tackett had 27 points and Colson Patton seems to have become a floor leader.
Really looking forward to seeing Independence play for the first time this year. Interested in what system the new coach runs and see what kind of basketball player Vic Wharton is.
Are we sticking to just 6A and 5A? If not, then we at least have to mention Corn Elder from Ensworth. Had 296 yards against Baylor, 229 against MUS, 227 against McCallie, and 200 against Lexington Catholic on national TV. He also has 18 rushing touchdowns so far.
Don't take Fairview too lightly. Their quarterback has a ton of experience and running back Julian Franklin and wide receiver Deondre Moore are freakishly athletic. What I'm looking forward to is seeing how they stack up to 6A opponents.
A handful of Williamson County teams usually play in the Music City Classic 7-on-7 at Vanderbilt. I'd expect the same ones that went last year to go again. That's BA, Centennial, Fairview, Franklin, and Independence. It is going on July 13-14 this year I believe.
