  1. Wrong... It's one of the biggest per man in years.
  2. Several? More like less than 5 fingers....
  3. Even though I'm not that 1, I got 2 tickets for you if you decide you want to join.
  4. I'm telling you unless Alcoa moves or AE moves to another classification you'll never see another one.
  5. I know my history, but AE's days of being relevant in a title contention sense are ancient history. The McKenzie twins and Leroy Thompson aren't walking back through those doors.
  6. We don't have to recruit, kids wanna come to a school that's successful. Sorry AE isn't one of those....
  7. Eric Locke, my cousin (Ronnie Chambers) coached at Cookeville around that time and had sons who played on those Cookeville squads back then. If I'm not mistaken one is your OC. As far as recruiting, I hate to burst your bubble there but it's fake news. We (Maryville) hear that same crap every year too.... If anything, we've traded players between each other more times than I can count over the years for the simple fact the schools are 5 miles apart. I was a Maryville kid K-12 and most of those Alcoa kids are the same, but there was a time I almost ended up at Alcoa simply because we moved 2 miles across town from East Maryville. Now do both schools get a few kids from out of the area every so often? Sure, but it's not like it's some massive number of kids or even some superstar athlete getting a job at the Nissan plant in Murfreesboro..... That's probably why Rankin chose to come here in the first place. He essentially plays against teams in his classification worse than the JV squad and doesn't have to worry about bringing kids in like , he had to at Riverdale. Alcoa was already established waaaaaay before Rankin got here and if I'm not mistaken they're the only public school (besides us) that has 4 different head coaches win state championships.
  8. I tried to type Skeeter Shields field, guess auto correct got me when I wasn't paying attention...
  9. I tried to tell people! I'm not blowing smoke when I say this team may be the deepest I've ever seen us field at Shields-Watkins. Young, yes.... That won't be an issue though too much longer if we can have a full season.
  10. We'll be good, only lost one Sr. after sending 13 last year. We should qualify them all in our WEAK region this year.
  11. Supposedly we got a Bosken type of Georgia recruit playing football for us this year. 2x GA state champ, not saying he'll help us beat you guys but he'll add some depth around 170 or 182. 1/2 of our team from 152 up will be playing football hopefully until mid December.
  12. Nothing much, just hoping we finish with another ring and get to start wrestling season.
  13. You failed to mention that we tied it 28-28 before it really got out of hand.
  14. 2 deep at almost every position will produce these kind of results. I haven't seen any glaring weaknesses on this team yet, but we'll see how they perform week to week as we get deeper into the season.
  15. I agree, this is one of the deepest teams I've seen us have across the board. They may be a little young and inexperienced, but I've seen us have younger/less experienced teams that went on to win a State title.
  16. For once I'm with BC on this one, I'm not sure if this is a good move.
  17. Intrasquad scrimmage tomorrow at 4:30 pm. A LOT of speed and size on this young team, they have enough talent this year IMO to repeat again IF everyone stays relatively healthy.
  18. Yep, so did a few other Power 5 and FCS schools.
  19. That's because we chose to play up. If we were 5A no one would stand a chance and people would say we're too scared to play up. They said the same thing when we dominated 4A, now the only argument I hear is why can't we play outbof state teams. As far as NE football is concerned, until proven otherwise I'm not ready to put them in the conversation of dominant programs.
  20. Never beat Maryville, do you remember that?
  21. Neither is 4A, but Powell wasn't the best 5A team now were they. That being said, all of the former 4A Northeast TN teams were happy as heck when we moved up and scared to death that Alcoa will move up (which they should) and take that classification too.
  22. I could name about 4 schools in Knoxville 5A that would beat Elizabethton on an annual basis. They will never beat Alcoa, the funny part is Elizabethton finally wins a gold ball and now they're taking all comers???
