What school are you representing? The Smokey Mountain Wrestling Conference has a good number of schools in it but I coach for Maryville.

Since when? I don't recall but maybe a few times HC has brought home a gold ball. My money is on Oak Ridge or West from Knoxville.

No he doesn't, he has been working for Nike since stepping down at Greenback. Glad to see another teammate from Hammontree's Heart Attack kids from the 95 season coming back home though. -

I have had a few parents and wrestlers from other schools allude to the fact they're looking to get over here. I'm not going to name anyone in particular, but I can tell you some of those kids are studs on the mat. Haven't seen them on the field though... -
I am close friends with Daddy Jones and I'll say there are ample reasons why those kids aren't coming back. You're right though, they took a huge hit this year and it's a shame that they're not as good as they should be.

I would have liked to have seen the Jones twins from Houston if the varsity coach hadn't run them off. From what I understand they may be back next year if he is gone.

I understand your frustration, but I think we'll be okay. -
Are there any participants for a girls only division at the middle school state tournament this year?
-
I believe those Cleveland titles in the 90's were also when they were a small school. I know we (Maryville) wrestled them first round in the small school division of the '93 state duals at Cleveland High School. What year did they eventually move up to the large school division?

I don't know about that Sommers, Sammy beats Nick 7 out of 10 times. Also, not knocking on Boykin but his accomplishment was in Cadet where Sammy was not comping last year (even if they're in the same grade).

If they would go back to the way TSSAA had it in the 90's and earlier, we wouldn't have this mess.

Was this at a certain wrestling tournament I spotted you and Sdot at? I will say I had more than a few parents approach me about getting their kids in the red and black now that we have our youth grappling program back in the game. Wrasslin and fooseball go together like peas and carrots or PB&J I have to say... -
Having been put in charge of rebuilding the youth wrestling programs at Maryville, I'm curious to find out how many programs have girls participating. The said, I recognize that girls wrestling could generate a lot of interest in the sport in general and having a diverse program is never a bad thing. We have a few girls now interested in participating, but I would like to get a better idea of which clubs have girls already participating themselves and what their experience has been getting their female wrestlers outside competition.

Stars, how did my house on Magnolia get in this picture? You can basically see my back door... -
Rebelwoman can confirm who I am, her seats are not too far from mine.

You mean to tell me I could have met this mystery man? I think I know who he is now anyway...

Did I guarantee any titles? No, but did I make an "attack" on foolball96? Yes I will admit that. Truthfully my statement wasn't even a bold one but nice of you to try and "big brother" me and interject yourself into a matter between myself and foolball96. Honestly, I could care less what he thinks because I (and others) believe him to be a dishonest poster hiding behind a screen name. Not to mention he tries be play the good guy by dissing me for "not showing class" when he clearly led by example by telling me to STFU for pointing out he never wrestled. Another prime example of him talking out of both sides of his mouth... That said, the only opinions I respect are those I am responsible for, report to, or friends I've made in the "wresting family". Foolball96 is not one of those, but that doesn't mean I am going to disrespect yours because I don't know you well enough to have formed an opinion like you seemed to have done with me. Am I sometimes a smar --- or even a little bit cocky? Maybe, but I certainly didn't get that way by being a "mediocre wrestler" or assuming things about people whom I know nothing about. So to correct you're assumption, my initial response was more of a jab at foolball96 here and less of a bid for attention or a shot at any of the fine youth coaches in TN. I have gotten a ton of support from people within our program thus far in rebuilding a previously non existent program. Honestly, I am lucky to be in the position I'm in and in the future will keep my bravado reigned in a bit since I appear to have touched a nerve with you. But to the original poster I apologize for hijacking your thread as that was not my intention. To answer your question, if you had to ask me who has the top youth program based on past and current success I will have to give that to Bradley. If there's a program out there I want mine to emulate, it would be theirs and hopefully we can achieve a fraction of the success those guys have achieved in their illustrious program. Rant over and don't expect any further responses me on this topic (even if there's more nonsense coming from Foolball96)....

Seymour Middle School Takedown Tournament 11/21/15
JSamson7 replied to OnTheGrind865's topic in Wrestling Mat
We (Maryville) will not be coming to this one, but we will be coming to the tournament on 12/11. I'll be contacting you guys for registering soon. -
Sommers, fooseball96 is just mad I called him on his BS. I will say this though, give me 3 years and I'll have Maryville being mentioned in the fastest rising middle school program in the state. Guaranteed... As far as fooseball96 pulling any move on me on the mat period, that'd maybe happen in his dream world he likes to go to when he "reminiscences" his Blue Raider football career.

Hahahahahahaha! This round goes to FHSalumn12! Bringing other state titles into a football discussion.... Are you serious?!?!
