Now Im not particulary sure about the set up of the playoffs but couldnt Greeneville hypothetically not win another game and secure a playoff spot because they are the only 4a team in BRAC?

Kind of thinking the games against all three county teams are going to be like a train wreck you just cant stop staring at... What do you do though? I dont think Coach will intentionally hang 80 on SG. He might on WG.

Haha that truely was one of the most frustrating games on any level Ive witnessed. TN vs NC probably takes number one of course. At least you were part of the foundation that made WG become relevant. Wasnt that the same year we almost beat CG who had that beast QB? Pretty sure you guys lost by one point or two. Bull missed the go ahead field ago.

I went to this game and I will say NG outplayed the Rebels for almost the entire game. That is until about 7 minutes left in the fourth quarter where they just let history catch up to them again. I am not sure whether they got over confident and let it slip out of reach or if they were already thinking about the celebration after the game. Had they stayed focused and not had stupid penalties like everyone has mentioned they could have easily shut out the Rebs for the victory. I will say this game reminded me of a game about four years ago between SG and WG. It ended 3-0. SG hasn't beat them since so maybe we can see NG get some fire under them and try again next year. This loss will bother them everyday until next year's game.

I still think they will find a way to beat North Greene. I just don't see them losing that game. Up until last year South Greene had scored 40+ points on them for quite a few years in a row. Now I will say a little more experience for North Greene and I see them beating South Greene maybe next year. Never say never, however. I think the Tennessee vs Kentucky game proved that to us last fall. The Greeneville game will be a disaster (as it is every year for the county schools) so let's hope the Devils decide to take it easy on them this year. The only positive outcome from this year will be in two years when this squad should be back to being competitive.

Can anyone tell me who got hurt during the third? Looked pretty bad hope all is well for him and his family. It was a good season for the Buffs and good luck AE the rest of the way.

Apparently Metcalf has a broken fibula and will be stuck on crutches for awhile. Certainly not what WG defense needs against a very fast and talented AE offense.

I wish him the best. It truely is a huge accomplishment and privilage to get to go to college and continue to play the game these kids love. Hopefully he realizes how lucky he is and will make the best of it.

I completely agree. Ballard deserved it as well as Case that year. Ballard did something many of us thought we'd never see. I do also agree that Case in some ways does shoot his team in the foot, whether it's not playing the younger boys when the game is well in hand (or out of hand) and not managing the clock wisely. How many times have we seen him burn two timeout in the third and really be hurting when the fourth quater comes around? However, he is the coach and he has made something out of nothing. It also looks like the same thing is happening at North Greene. It will be a fun time next year watching them finally give the other county schools a run for the county champ title. Still a few years off from winning it, but it will shake things up I'm sure. Greene County football is starting to really be something to watch. It's amazing that 5 out of 5(if all goes well and the TSSAA doesn't screw around with the seeding) teams will suit up on November 4.

It's obvious who should get defensive and offensive players of the year. Most will agree Baxley and Boles will get the nod. However I believe Joe Case should receive coach of the year. He has turned the program completely around and has stayed consistant with winning on the range. I do agree NG's coach also deserves credit and acknowledgement.

All this talk about Dalton Boles has me wondering if any college teams are trying to recruit him? Not trying to imply anything at all just wondering if he has gotten any offers.

If CD can control the ball and pound it out with Juice it will be a long night for the Rebs defense. Should be a dandy of game though!

Maybe someone can answer this what if.. What happens if South Greene loses to the Knights for the first time in 18 years, would that cause them to drop down to a seven seed and potentially play West Greene in the first round if WG gets the two seed?
