  1. i graduated from VHS last year(2007) i can tell you now cherokee is a lot like crockett only a little better. they like lining a buncha big boys up in the back field and handing it off a million times a game. My junior and senior year we beat them mainly with the running game but we also passed pretty much at will. Having said that you sullivan south guys should have a field day with them. im gonna say 56-0, just watch out for this little half back pass and you'll be sure to get a shut-out. Also Sivert likes to pull a buncha crap outta his sleeve like the muddle huddle and the swinging gate and all that junk. know your assignments and stay with them. Good luck Rebs.
  2. well maybe not the northeast tip of TN but theyre in the general area haha. oh and your post reminds me. Another school to add to list TN high would whip on those SWVA teams as well /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  3. Do you VA boys know how to read a map? because if you do then you would know that maryville and alcoa both are considered NET. They would pound gretna, clintwood, etc. The Sullivan teams could and would probably decide how much they FELT LIKE scoring against clintwood. I could be mistaken but is GC, Clintwood, or Gretna ranked nationally? i doubt it, but as i mentioned earlier Maryville is a NET team, and they are ranked on everyones national polls. to whoever said they think gretna would hold their own against maryville or alcoa that is a JOKE. Also to answer your question wave Volunteer has well over a 1000 kids in school. The conference we play in would more than likely pound you as well. West, East, Greeneville, maybe Daniel Boone, and maybe Davy Crockett would beat you. Volunteer could beat you with an offensive line thats better. If you would've been in our conference last year, depending on your non-conference schedule, you would've been about 3-7. Once again this year I'm almost positive you would lose to everyone on our schedule aside from cocke county and maybe crockett. Bell County would mop the field with you. As for your star player being out, one man wasn't going to make up 42 points. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  4. shut up man if you read my post i gave credit to clintwood for being ranked higher than GC or PV in VA. You think im going to lose sleep over this? My senior year (last yr) we beat clintwood 42-0, so it doesn't really matter to me. Besides maybe you should pull your head out of VA's butt, considering your info says you are from Johnson Co., TN. I'm not sure why you have so much va pride, but when you really look at it SW Virginia football is joke compared to northeast TN football. Sure my alma mater lost to a VA team last night but take one of SW Virginia's top teams and pit them against a top NE TN team. That would be UGLY. I mean come on we beat them 42-0 last year and they made it to the State Championship. I realize these schools are considerably smaller in enrollment numbers but geez.
  5. 07 season we lost to cocke co. we got in the red zone 5 times in the first quarter. if we scored every time we were in the red zone it was about 52-0. needless to say we didn't. somehow we managed to turn it over basically everytime and ended up losing 20-19 in 2nd OT. i contemplated suicide. just kidding, but seriously cocke co.?
  6. honky tonk what's your problem with the Falcons. You always have a smart remark about them. "go play GC or PV" well if I'm not not mistaken according to several polls, Clintwood is ranked higher than both in VA. Volunteer doesn't play cupcake games when we go outside of conference. We play Bell Co., KY., and I'm not sure which high school you root for but I dare you to go to middlesborough and play them, your team will come away with a loss. Keep talking trash about Volunteer, it just makes me laugh when I think of the desperately low level of intelligence you have. At the half. Volunteer-9 Clintwood-9
  7. Great job Falcons! Should've been a shutout.. that was a terrible no-call on that pass, but nevertheless that was good W. Luke did an awesome job last night of stepping up in the pocket and not getting rattled. The receivers also did much better. Defense had a nice game and i was loving some of those hits in the backfield. The main thing is, although you guys are 1-1.. You're 1-0 where it really counts and thats in the region play! Fight hard next week in Clintwood, and show them like we did last year what tennessee football is all about it.!! Go Falcons!
  8. bahahahaha did you graduate through the special education program? I'm almost positive that if a little league flag team beat Cocke Co. that wouldn't even be considered an upset. Granted we came in last year 100% overconfident and could've beaten them about 56-0, they ended up getting upset in the 2nd overtime. At no one point in my career have i ever been that ashamed, or even near to it. Cocke Co. is a terrible excuse for a football program, and Rider will definitely have the Falcons ready to roll this time around. VHS-28 the cocks-whatever they can score against the second team D.
  9. for sure and less dropped passes. that was definitely a momentum killer on the first drive to have it go straight thru a receivers hands and let them pic it off. luke looked like he was throwing it pretty well. WHEN he got the time to do so of course. As far as cocke county dont count your chickens before they hatch. Cocke Co is a freaking joke in the football world, last year we went down there and were entirely too cocky about it. if we would've scored everytime we were in the red zone it wouldve been 35-0 at half time. Volunteer should without a doubt dominate them. Just don't be too over confident. its a terrible feeling. i have never felt worse about myself than about 30 seconds after losing to a team like that. Go Falcons
  10. basically yes the o line did graduate. along with all the rest of us. lol
  11. Cool pic there couch qb. just out of curiosity what game is that? looks like white on white with royal blue helmets for the visitors haha
  12. Greeneville might as well be playing in a conference with the TN schools for the deaf and blind from what ive heard its all the greene co schools and a few other schools that im honestly not sure why they have football haha
  13. well from a nuetral person, that GHS reciever really did push off like no other. haha obviously that might not have changed anything but that definitly was a terrible no call. Having said that I personally still think GHS is the real team to beat.
  14. East should return a lot of young guns from last year so i expect they will be dangerous. Gaby is a good qb but overall i like Volunteer in this one. Biggest test is this will the first varsity start for about 95% of Volunteer's players. I like Volunteer by a TD. Go Falcons!
  15. dude quit hating. im sorry you havent been able to overcome the hump and beat us the past few years. Volunteer is dangerous because of the coaching staff. a lot of natural talent may not come through ( quite a bit does though ). The coaches work with what they have and mold these guys into great players. Honestly Coach Rider would be my pick for the best coach in the conference. I mean can you ask for a better football family haha his father is one of the winnigest coaches in TN high school history. He played at VT and his nephew is Jason Witten. If thats not devout football i dont know what is. HE is the reason Volunteer is dangerous. From day one he preaches that anything is possible, and that you can beat anyone. By saying this im not taking anything away from the actual players cause we definitly have some great ball players.
  16. Jamboree Friday. Falcons have beat Boone in the one quarter showdown two years in a row. Even though I always hated playing in jamboree's i DO think they can give a team somewhat of a confidence boost. Get to play someone in your own conference and know how you stack up. Good luck Falcons, and remember this doesnt mean anything. So don't play soft, but don't kill yourself out there either. The real season is far more important than all this pre-season junk. Anyways, hopefully both team can make it through injury free! Go Falcons!
  17. I'm sure he'll be there. From what I've heard Coach Rider is letting all three RB's get some time, but is relying on the two older RB's carry the load. As for the freshman sensation I'm sure he'll get some snaps. He rattled off about 65-70 yrd. TD against Gate City. I'm interseted in seeing how our secondary handles the spread out shotgun stlye offense. I know Betsy ran it against them, but come on haha. I hear great things about the up and coming QB for you guys. Another D-1 prospect possibly?? Pretty soon South is going to be the QB factory. Good Luck to both teams, stay injury free, and lets GO Falcons! Mays#12
  18. dc is just mad cause they only have cocke county in the cellar with them now. Volunteer is by no means a conf champ contender this year.. but dc you're nuts if you don't think coach rider won't have them believing anything is possible. and that my friends is when a team is dangerous./wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" /> G-ville. (if barner is injury free, and greenway isnt in Brushy Mt. state pen. yet) Mo-west. Mo-East. (if they actually go after the other teams instead of fighting with each other) Volunteer/Cherokee/Boone. (that ones a toss up) and then Crockett and Cocke co.
  19. I agree with Ed. I'm in no way trying to down him. Only using what I have learned after a 4 year varsity career. The first varsity game I played in was as a freshman against morristown west, and I absolutly got murdered. I weighed about 145-150 lbs and maybe 5'11". So all I'm doing is using past expereince of the game to say I dont think he'll be a big impact this year but definitly in the years to come. I could be wrong, no one can tell for sure. He may get a snap one game and rattle off a 70 yd. TD and remain sitting in the #1 spot the rest of the year on the depth chart. I'm only stating the odds are kinda stacked against him to have a big year this year, but definitly stacked in his favor for the years to come. I'm not sure why you are pointing out past players as the sole ones "downing" him. As a newly graduated player, I would like to take pride in the football teams to come. To think I, or my fellow 21 Seniors this year had in some way helped underclassmen, and even younger than that like middle school. I would hope they would look up to us and strive to be better than us. Every year wanting more and more. In any case, Are we playing Boone in the Jamboree again? Mays#12
  20. I think Volunteer will be alright this season. I'm looking for my boys Bennett and Antonio to have a huge year. Luke can handle the job. I think he'll do a fine job at QB. As for Devin, I don't see him starting at all this year. Probably very limited playing time IF any. I've seen him play a little bit and he has speed. At the Varsity level though, nearly every team has a little speed. To really break through at Running back you need a good balance of speed and bulk. Give him a year in the weightroom with the coaching staff and he could make a huge impact and start soph-sr years if he continues to work the hardest. This isn't Coach Rider's first time out, hes a very smart coach. He knows that no matter how much God-given talent a kid has, nothing can substitute for experience. I don't see coach letting his 150 lb. freshman prodigy get his world rocked. Believe me the LB's for east, west, and G-ville would light his world up. Look for him to stir things up next year and the years to follow. Mays#12
  21. We're located in northeast TN. Region 2-4A. Last years regular season record was 5-5. We lost in the 1st round to Tennessee High. We'll have an almost all senior starting squad with a few juniors. Here is a link to the school webiste. http://www.hawkinsschools.net/volunteer/ And here is a link to our sports page. You'll have to go back quite awhile to get to last years football season. http://www.tricitiessports.com/default.asp...rts&he=.com
  22. I always thought slapping the glass was only a T in middle school. Otherwise known as Backboard Checking. However in High School I, or anyone else ive played alongside or against has never been T'ed up for doing it. We even do it in warm-ups right on front of the ref's. Hanging on the rim, however definitly is a techinical.
  23. Congrats guys.. awesome touney win..good job to Crockett, record may not show it but you all have made a huge turn around from last season. Great job Cradic on passing the 1000 mark and to everyone that made the All Tournament Team ( MVP- Keith Cradic, Chadd Browder, Aaron Bennett, and Darren Mauk) Keep the Winning up guys Mays#12
