  1. ptguard pretty much said it all. Lake County had a good chance of winning this game and they could have very well upset Gleason. Lake County can beat Gleason. I honestly believe that, because LC has a good ball club this year and they can easily upset some teams in the tournaments. Lake County missed too many easy shots tonight. A lot of lay-ups were missed in this game by the Falcons and sometimes they were pretty much wide open. Our defense has been a major factor here lately and that is what won the game against South Fulton, because it sure wasn't our offense that won the game. Tonight we gave Gleason too many easy three pointers. On several of their three's, we didn't even have a hand in their face. You have to play defense on these Gleason girls, or they will shoot you right out of the gym. We also had way too many turnovers tonight. Gleason's defense is tough and it was hard for us to beat their press. The closest Lake County got was 6. The score was 30-24 and Gleason turned it over. We had a chance to cut it to 4 or maybe even 3. Lake County turned it right back over and Gleason ran the score back up. The girls were just out of gas, but they did play Gleason tough. But, there are no excuses for losing tonight. We just couldn't make good shots and we had too many turnovers and most of the time, Gleason converted off of them. We were also out rebounded tonight. Gleason has a great team though and they are very fundamentally sound. They have an excellent squad and they should make it far this year. It was a good game just like I expected it would be. I read other posts in this topic and several of them said Gleason would win by 15 or 20 or 25. I knew it would be much closer, because our girls were ready for this game and pumped up for it. Our girls wanted it badly, but they just didn't get it done tonight. Every team has bad nights and tonight was ours. We just couldn't seem to get things right and get it going. At least we are still playing though and we are not finished just yet. We just might surprise some teams in region! Best of luck to both of the teams the rest of the tournaments. Maybe we will get another shot at Gleason in the region and maybe there will be a different outcome! Good job by Lady Falcons and keep your heads high! It's not over yet and it's just beginning for us! Remember it's tourney time and anything can happen!
  2. Lake County plays Gleason tomorrow night in a much anticipated rematch. I think this will be a really good game. I know our girls are ready and they are hungry for a win. They have been ready since the win over South Fulton and they dominated in that game. They have really been playing good here lately and they seemed to have peaked at just the right time! They wanted to play Gleason and believe me, they are ready. Don't overlook these Falcons girls, because they are tough and they can easily pull an upset. It's tournament time and anything can happen now. I bet Gleason won't forget back in 96 when Lake County stunned them in the region and knocked their 31-0 squad out. I remember that game and it was a shocker to even us. This isn't a do or die game though, but I bet they would still be shocked. Gleason is tough too and they are an excellent team and will be very hard to beat, but they are beatable. I not saying they aren't good at all, I'm just saying they can be beat! It should be a good game to see! Best of luck to the Lake County girls tomorrow night and maybe they can pull an upset and be playing in the district championship game!
  3. Not to be looking ahead too much, but who says that they will even play. More than likely they will, but it's tourney time and ANYTHING can happen especially in tournament games. If I am correct, didn't Bradford play Union City pretty tough in a regular season game. I may be wrong and someone correct me if I am, but I thought I remembered someone saying that was a good game at first until UC finally went away with it! Actually I thought they said it was close for 3 quarters. I may be wrong, but I thought that is what I heard.
  4. I totally agree Wes. Halls always plays Lake County tough especially during tourney time. We have had some classics over the years and they have been some good ones. And you are also right, LC has started playing ball at just the right time. I think LC will win this one, but it will definitely not be an easy win! Good luck to the Falcons!
  5. Lake County won tonight fairly easy over Gleason as did Halls over Trenton. That number 3 for Halls is wonderful. He won that game for Halls tonight, which some other good players played well too, but he was on fire. I know at one time, he hit 4 shots in a row. I think I heard someone say he was a sophmore. He will be a great asset to the Halls team. Anyway, back to our game. LC plays Halls Thursday night at 6:30 in another district rematch. The Halls team is always tough come tourney time and they have surprised several teams before. I think LC will come away with this win, but I believe it will be a hard fought win. It won't be easy at all! Channin Geanes will also be back for the Halls game. Best of luck to the Falcons and hopefully we will be playing in the district championship again this year!
  6. That's a good one! I like that Bigster!
  7. I totally agree with you! I don't think anyone could have beat Lake County tonight! That was about the best I have seen those boys play all year. And you are right, this game was over at halftime. Our boys wanted it really bad tonight and they got it! It was just absolutely great and a great porformance by the Falcons! I am still just stunned that we won by that much of a margin on their floor! I figured it would be much closer! LC also had a big crowd tonight, but I figured we would with all the people talking about coming! If we play Union City like that, I don't think they have a chance either. I would like to see a Union City-Lake County rematch with their full roster there. It just might happen if we both make it to the district championship game. Who knows though, neither of us could be playing in that game. You never know what will happen come tournament time! Great job by the Falcons tonight! Keep the streak alive boys!
  8. I was really shocked that we won this game by this much. I figured it would be close, but I didn't think it would end up like that. Wow what a game by the Falcons! Like someone said earlier, no one could have beat us tonight. We didn't miss too many shots tonight. Sometimes you have your nights and tonight just happen to be Lake County's and it couldn't have come at a better time. Great job by the Falcons! Also on a side note, I was listening to the end of the Gleason-Dresden game on the way home and I think they said LC would play the winner of Greenfield and Gleason. Is that right or did I hear it wrong? Also when will LC play? I figured we would probably play Saturday, but that's just a guess!
  9. Ok, explain yourself to me and don't take this wrong. What exactly do you mean by unbeaten when they have all of their players? Didn't they have all of their players when they played at Humboldt last Thursday? I was at the game and UC had their FULL roster there, so I am just wondering what you mean by this post. I guess you are saying "unbeaten" since the Humboldt loss, I don't know.
  10. Yeah you are right bigster. Lake County will definitely bring a large crowd to this game. That is all I am hearing in Lake County right now. Everyone is talking about attending this game, so I am expecting a huge turn out for this one on the LC side. Humboldt's crowd will be large also. I went to the UC-Humboldt game and Humboldt's side was packed, not to mention very wild and rowdy! The crowd helped them a lot in the comeback against UC. But don't forget, LC has a loud and rowdy crowd as well! This will be a very exciting game and will be a good one for anyone to see!
  11. I know I will probably get bashed by all the fans of the school I am about say, but it is the smallest gym I have ever been in, besides the old Lake County Middle School gym. The Middleton gym is about the smallest high school gym I have been to. Some people had to stand up the entire game and most were on the sidelines blocking the entrance to get into the gym. If I remember correctly, I belive they asked the people to sit down or they had to leave. I might be wrong, but I think that is right. The problem with that was there was no places left to sit and people had already paid for their tickets to see the game. People had no choice but to stand up. It was mostly the LC people standing. I know there were a few Middleton folks, but it was mainly the Lake County people. Maybe because it was a sub-state game and so many people were there, but still it was small and not to mention very hot! I know I will probably get all kinds of replies to this from the Middleton people, but it is small. I am just glad I got there early and was lucky enough to get a seat! It was very crowded where I was sitting, but at least I wasn't standing up.
  12. Yeah you are exactly right. If I were Whitby, I would go to a zone. During the Union City-Lake County game, Whitby went to a zone about midway through the 3rd quarter into the 4th and everyone knows what happened. UC couldn't handle it and they were forced to shoot outside. After he did that, LC went on that big run and just went away with it and never looked back. That's why I would start in a zone and stay in a zone. Humboldt has some big guys down low and I would make Smith and the others shoot outside. Who knows though? You never know what Whitby has up his sleeve. Best of luck to the Falcons!
  13. I thought that Trenton lost to Middle College in the district tournaments. I believe that is right and then they were the fourth seed in the region and they played the number 1 seed which was Greenfield and won. I may be wrong, but I think that is right. Can someone from LC back me on this? I think I am right.
  14. Thanks for the info. I thought one of them signed with Memphis and I was pretty sure the other was with Tennessee. I just couldn't remember though. That will be a big plus for Tennessee and also Memphis. I am so glad that Tennessee basketball has turned around. Pearl has turned that whole program around. Hasn't Tennessee been real impressive this year? That win over Florida was great and anytime Tennessee beats Florida in any sport is like winning a championship game. Chism will be a joy to watch next year and will be a big asset at Tennessee. Kemp will also excel at Memphis. Best of luck to the two young men the rest of the season and also in college!!
  15. Where have Kemp and Chism signed at? I read it in an article several weeks ago, but I forgot where they were going. Didn't one of them sign with Memphis if I can remember correctly?
  16. I saw your poll and I knew that you had them #8. I was replying to culleokarep's post and said that his poll looked good, but I would have put Middle College in there somewhere. They are definitely a team not to be overlooked at all and they will most definitely be dangerous come tournament time. I know I wouldn't want to meet up with them in a loser go home game. Someone correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the only way that Lake County would play them again would be in sub-state? That sounds right, but I am not sure.
  17. Yeah, after the incident with Lake County, Doaks was suspened for two games. He didn't get to play in the Middle College game or the first region game against Greenfield. I think I am right, but I believe they lost to Middle College. I think that is right, but I know they beat Greenfield without Doaks. It was a pretty close game too. They had Partee for both games and he played great against Greenfield. I know his loss hurt Trenton this year. Partee could have helped them out tremendously this year. Like everyone says though, you play with what you got and go on.
  18. That looks good to me, but I would add Middle College in there somewhere. They are very good and very athletic and they also beat last year's state champs by 20 during their last meeting. Middle College is very dangerous come tournament time. I know I wouldn't want to meet up with them! Other than that, it looks great to me. Very good top ten!!
  19. No, they lost Partee. He got kicked off earlier in the year for some incident. I don't know what it was all about, but I know he is off the team and that hurts Trenton, because that would have been their big guy this year with the loss of Doaks. They have Asburn, Yancy, Fields, and Ramsey and they are all good players. I know they have more, but that is all I can think of at the moment. Lake County beat them by about 15 at LC in their first meeting. It should be a good game, but I think LC will get this one.
  20. Lake County travels to Trenton Friday night for a big district game for LC. I believe I am right, but if LC wins tomorrow night, that should put them in 1st place. I may be wrong, but I believe that is correct. I know that Trenton beat Humboldt in the Christmas tournament by 2 and I don't know what went wrong in that game. Humboldt won the other two meetings by 21 and 16. That goes to show you that Trenton is a team not to be overlooked and we also play on their floor. I think it will be a good game, but I think LC will come out on top in this one. Best of luck to the Falcons Friday night and bring us home another victory!
  21. This was a great game and anyone that missed it, you missed a good one. Humboldt gave an excellent effort and they never gave up. They played their hearts out and they deserved to win. When UC was up by 14 or so, I thought they had it. Humboldt just kept on pushing and finally got the lead with about 3 1/2 - 4 minutes to go in the game. Congrats on the win tonight and best of luck to you boys the rest of the season. So now what does this do in the district? I know UC has two losses, LC has one, and Humboldt has two. So, does that mean if LC wins tomorrow night at Trenton, that puts them in first? I think that is right, but if I'm wrong someone correct me.
  22. Yeah I read that today as well. I still think Humboldt gets this win. I believe it will be a close one, but I think Humboldt will come out on top. A few of us Lake Countians are planning on making the trip. It will be a good one for anyone to see.
  23. You couldn't have said it any better. I totally agree with you. And you know as well as I do, that there will be some excuses coming from them. Especially if all that mess is true about the boys being suspended, that will be their number one excuse right there. I remember someone saying in another topic that you just play with what you got and do the best you can with what you have. That was about the last meeting between LC and UC when papa was kicked off the team. I believe it was backinthaoc that said it. I might be wrong oc, so don't come on here trash talking me. I was just saying that I THOUGHT it was you. But who knows if there is even any truth to the rumor. It could just be kids talking. But, I do know one thing, I know that will be Union City's excuse if they do happen to get beat by the Falcons and Vikings and maybe even the Bulldogs on Friday night. I can already hear them now. Just play with what you have and go with it. That's all you can do. That's what we had to do.
