  1. Same. Plus the fact they have their bye the week before gives them an extra week to prepare/heal up. I know we are favored, but that's still likely a tough matchup for HC. I feel pretty good about the other remaining games.
  2. Man, Clarksville High is looking legit this year. Nothing against Northeast, but I kinda wish we would've scheduled the Wildcats instead.
  3. I think Springfield gets back in the W column this week. 24-14 Jackets
  4. If this game ends up being closer than expected, I'm blaming the sandwiches that Hendersonville gave them.
  5. I'll be pulling for them, but I foresee another tough outing for the Jackets. Centennial is on my short list of teams from this side of the bracket who I think are capable of making it to state.
  6. Did Brentwood pay the refs for the game to go in their favor tonight? No, they did not. It was a clean win by Brentwood.
  7. "The rumors of my death are greatly exaggerated." I know it's a down year, but the Jackets ain't ever gonna just lay down. Congrats on the W. I still expect them to make the playoffs.
  8. Brentwood wins 17-14. Plain and simple, they played a cleaner game and made the big plays that we didn't. Hats off. They are really good. I'm very proud of HC's effort. We had a slew of penalties tonight that honestly should have put this game out of reach. The fact that we still had a chance at the end is telling. There is no quit in this team.
  9. Loved The Replacements. Fun fact it’s loosely based on the 1987 NFL players strike. Former UT Vols quarterback Tony Robinson being called up to start a game for the Redskins is rumored to be the inspiration for Keanu Reeves’ (John Wick) character.
  10. Don’t feel bad, I came here to say Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story and The Waterboy For serious sports flicks, Moneyball and Friday Night Lights are my favorites. Invincible and The Express are underrated imo.
  11. We've had trouble getting in the win column at their place over the years. And this definitely doesn't appear to be a Brentwood team that will be easy to break that streak against. It's hard not to be impressed with their resume so far. That said, this HC team has vastly exceeded my expectations to this point. If they can keep it close into the 4th quarter, anything can happen. Hoping for a good game.
  12. We've had the best start to the season, but I still say it's gonna be a tight race between HC and Beech. All told, we had pretty similar outcomes against a quality opponent in Riverdale, and homefield advantage easily could've played a role in both games. I'm also not ready to count out Hendersonville. They took one on the chin tonight, but we get a taste of the Bruins next week. That game will be telling.
  13. Definitely one of the more down Jacket teams I've seen, but good win for the Big Red. Next week looks like it may be the game everyone expected Riverdale to be though. Brentwood is looking like a legitimate threat in 6A right now.
  14. Several interesting storylines in the region this week. I'm curious to see: If Beech can bounce back against another solid opponent. If Hendersonville can hang with Brentwood. If Henry County can show consistency. If Springfield can show some legitimate improvement. If Portland is a true contender for a playoff spot.
  15. Not sandbagging, but I still believe the Jackets are capable of winning this game, and I have little doubt they will eventually right the ship. They are well-coached and always play hard. But this is one year I am glad we get them early. I believe HC is a clear favorite, but we still have to prove we can be consistent. We were very up and down in the preseason, and we are a pretty young team ourselves. Luckily, our coaches are good about hammering the importance of all region games into our players. I hope the message sticks this week.
  16. What's been the Jackets' main turnover issue? I remember your Greenbrier thread said something about snaps being a problem. Did that continue against Clarksville?
  17. I think Henry County wins, but I echo SEC's post. Can't let up. First region game.
  18. I have always heard the problems at Henry Co during those years were higher up than Donnie Webb, but I am not much for details on that kind of thing.
  19. I’ve been there many times, Indiana are not true Yankees. It’s basically the south’s middle finger. But regardless of the result, good on Oakland for scheduling. Respect.
  20. Heck of a win tonight. This team has some special players and might just be for real. Got a hungry Springfield team coming in next week and then possibly the best team we’ll see all year at Brentwood the following week. LFG
  21. This is another good point. 5A and 6A discussion for West TN on here has never been as active as Middle or East, and it's largely a function of scarcity. But if you go to the 1A or 3A boards, it is swallowed up with West TN fans.
  22. I don't know, but many people just check scores on FB or Twitter now. And then there's sites like YouTube and Hudl, which feature everything you could ever want to know about a particular player including bio and highlights. I still like to come here to learn about certain teams, as there are many knowledgeable posters, and some of the banter is hilarious, but a lot of the basics can be gotten elsewhere now. Not a knock on this site at all, it's just the reality that we've gotten from the ubiquity of wifi and smart phones.
  23. Social media has killed a great deal of discussion on the T. I am guilty of it myself. I still love this site, but I find myself checking it less and less with each passing year.
  24. True. Beech has always been the master of doing that. It’s nice to be on the offensive side of it.
  25. I don’t know a thing about Smyrna, but Riverdale just blanked them 36-0. Sounds like they have some D1 caliber players on their team. I’m expecting a tough matchup for HC. Hoping for a good game.
