Wow guys, 7-8 record? Run ruled? What is happening on that side of town? I saw a couple of your games in the Warrior Classic. Not very much going right at this time. I know you have the talent. Shed some light on this subject please. OaklandGrad? Priceless?

EXACTLY I was going to start an adult thread. Please bring your thoughts because they all count, but this teat for tat stuff is oooooooold.

I believe everyone will know that I will predict Riverdale. Until someone takes it from them... The Warriors will be solid defensively, can hit, and adequately pitch, although after Choate it is not as dominating, they will keep you in the game. And Hunter and Skinner is the best 1-2 offensive punch in the league! The outfeild will be solid and the infield will be great. Powers and Wright have great hands, Richardson has a cannon behind the plate. Jones is pretty solid at 3rd. They will not beat themselves! The Patriots will have the best hitting team in the district again... they maybe able to pitch better this year with the addition of Barnes. There outfield will be good...but defensively in the infield they have struggled in the past. With Polk, Barnes, Burnett at the top of the hitting line-up and Fann, Warren, and Dodd in the middle, you still have returning starter Parsley to put in to bat. Solid, but not enough (they scored 9 runs and 11 runs against Riverdale last year and was swept!). You have to stop the other team to win. siegel- they hang around and beat you. Very well coached. Roberts should anchor one of the deepest pitching staffs. Defensively they maybe the best...offensively no real threat...no easy out either. Blackman...well they worry me.

As posted earlier...to be the best you have to beat the best. Riverdale has had a very successful run and will continue to win baseball games. The fall ball season resulted in both teams winning tournament championship in east Tennessee and I have no reason to believe it will not continue. Need to solidify a number 2 pitcher and hit and we will continue to win District Champioships IMO. Like the Warriors counterpart, the Patriots, when success comes your way for a sustained time, you win ball games off your reputation. This team may be a little off in depth this year but with Richardson behind the plate, and the best hands in the district at 1st base in Pleas Wright, Trice Powers who is as solid fielder as there is, Ben Jones anchoring 3rd base, and hunter, Skinner and Choate in the outfield. I like the Warriors chances!

I agree with Bizazz. IMO, daddy should have been run out of Knoxville if he couldn't get junior!

Great to be back on the baseball message boards! Really? I would have said Oakland has real good power. I saw Oakland play 4 or 5 times last year and here is what I saw. I saw Drew Fann hit a bomb at the reservation that was still climbing when it left the park. I saw Mitch Warren hit one to the dugouts on the girls softball field and then another one that disappeared over the scoreboard a couple days later. THEN...Tennyson Dodd hit 2 one game. One may have been wind assisted, the other would have been out of any park anywhere. I may need to be on their payroll to watch their games. The Warriors will hit more out this year. Chad Hunter, Will Skinner of course, Pleas Wright will crank a few as will Chason Choate. I look for Chad to lead the district in homers even though he is a junior. The Warriors will defend their district title very well this season. This maybe the best balanced this district has been in a while. Defense, good hitting, and a solid pitching staff, anchored by Choate, will give Riverdale the advantage though.

Yea, lets stick our heads in the sand and pretend it did not happen. Thats how this problem has manifested itself. Out of respect to the 2nd baseman, he wants it dropped and I'll post nothing further on it...but lets focus on what happened on the field? Your part of the problem.

Excellent point...and your right! The team appears to have had a great season and kudos to the 2nd basemen for exercising some control. But wait, it is over and it was a family matter...so what happens if the 2nd basemen sucker punches the catcher at the local Dairy Queen?

If it was my child, I would press charges AND if the coach cannot or will not handle issues such as these...I would find someone who would. Lets not forget, that just because this happened on a playing field or arena does not make it right. If he was at work and hit a "team mate" what would happen? And do not give me "they are just kids" bull. They are cursing and drinking and sleeping around. They want to be treated as adults. We have to do our jobs as adults (or parents if you have children) to teach these kids how to control themselves and behave. Just because they hit for power or have a pop time of 1.92, does not make it right. Look at Jose Canseco, Daryl Strawberry, Mike Tyson ect ect ect ect.

If you supposedly cannot curse on the field, then you certainly cannot hit another player. Winning has become more important, has it not? The 2nd baseman will remember being knocked out by his teammate alot more than the State Championship game. This is ridiculous. I do not care where it happened, how the team was "picked" not to go anywhere, or that this is a "team" or "family" matter. The catcher has no right to hit another person and should have been ejected if not freaking arrested. Quit justifying violence or ignorant behavior because you are hiding behind a sport.

My nephew has just finished is junior year and boy am I dreading next year. I guess I am living my life through him, but I do hate to see it end. I think of all the mediocre teams, mediocre players that have worked just as hard or harder. The ones who maybe started sparingly or the ones who was hoping for a chance to play at the next level (and it never comes). This time of year is a major adjustment for a lot of kids. It is hard to accept that "it is over". Sure there are summer leagues but realization is setting in. It is very difficult to let go of something you loved to play for so long. Yes the memories and friends will always be there and in 20 years you will be the best your team had , but right now the heaviness in these kids hearts can be overwhelming. The love and the joy that are on these type of kids faces as they play the game they love are the memories that I will remember. Sorry for heart-felt rambling..this time of year is a time for reflection though and I am sentimental!

I am for rotating from Memphis, to Nashville, to Knoxville...gives everyone an opportunity to travel and to stay at home. Nashville could be played at Lipscolm and Greer and Vanderbilt. IF it is going to be permanent...The 'Boro between Oakland, Riverdale, and MTSU. Regretably...it is not up to us nor are our opinions being asked. We simply pay the bills.

This year junior or next year junior?

Has this game lost some of it's luster? We (Riverdale) control our own destiny, but Oakland has struggled and Blackman has suprised many. siegel is here which has waterdowned the rivalry. I am not hearing a whole lot about this series. Admittedly I have been out of touch for a month now I was expecting a lot more hype. Your ideas? What is going on at Oakland? I know they have lost 2 key players in Watson and Patterson, but they are not scoring like I thought they would and they are giving up a bunch of runs. My gut tells me one thing, but I would like to hear someone close to the programs thoughts. Play hard and clean guys(:

At the Riverdale game last night that was all the talk. He has not played the past 3 games and we were told by a Oakland parent that he is gone. Oakland being very quite about this situation. Early post and on the 7AAA thread, and a comment by the parent last night would indicate a bad and very embarrassing situation happened at a tournament last weekend. That is ashame, he was a good ball player but probably an individual instead of a teammate IMO.
