  1. I don't believe CPA administration would allow this.
  2. Why don't you go back over to Trousdale or Jackson County or wherever you come from. What association do you have with CPA? Your comments are not welcome.
  3. I have a different take on this. I know it is easy to set back and criticize teams/schools who win and at times win big. It's all about the school going out and recruiting, recruiting, recruiting. Have any of you ever thought that quite possibly kids in the area want to go to CPA because of the success and no one recruits them? Success breads success, fact of life. Sorry if this bursts your bubble.
  4. Granted Alcoa won, but by the time CPAs linemen got the Alcoa line hands off the jersey the RB was 5 yards down the field. I know Coach Martin was asking the officials to call this. but apparently holding is now a legal play in football.
  5. Just wandering, Alcoa has had a problem with CAKs passing attack the last few years, how do you plan to slow down CPA? They have a Mr Football winner anchoring the line as well, you won't be able to man cover T Richard or he will be open all day.
  6. Here is my 2 cents worth on CPA this year. Go ahead and cry about all the recruiting of the current team if it makes you feel better about yourself or your team, but here are some facts. Even before Martin became coach at CPA, this senior class went undefeated or only lost 1 game as 8th graders if I am not mistaken. I believe the main reason this happened was due to the fact that at this time the previous coaching staff decided that they would not pass off the middle school program to a few coaches who half way invested the time in coaching a middle school program. They decided to use varsity coaches to coach the middle school team up and they experienced great success against BA and Goodpasture just to name a few. This decision to start investing in quality coaching in middle school paid dividends which is one main reason for the success of the current team. I'm not saying that Martin's arrival wasn't a turning point for CPA, his decision alone to play his best players on both sides of the ball for one accounted for at least 3 more wins or more each year, but this success of the current senior class started 5 years ago with the hard work and great coaching by both staffs, not recruiting. Going forward I don't see CPA slowing down. 5-6 years ago DCA and Goodpasture were CPA's biggest rivals in private schools, but neither are in the same category as CPA now, especially Goodpasture and this was even before D. Martin left. CPA's success has encouraged more kids to play who may not have considered playing 4-5 years ago. Also, you may not want to admit it, but success in football is the best draw for other kids and parents who are currently attending other schools, but looking for a program to maximize the kids potential.
  7. Thanks for your honest response, I agree 100 percent. I guess my point in this entire blog is that when you allow kids to move to another school out of zone for ANY reason, public or private, then let's face it, recruiting on some level will take place, some more than others. However no matter the level or amount of recruiting, it's still recruiting just like a little sin or a big sin, still a sin. Until the TSSAA says you play in the area you live, this will go on. And by the way, renting a small apt and saying a family of 6 lives there is complete fraud and this needs to be looked into for open zone public schools.
  8. OK, so substitute basketball or baseball. So....what do you do when your county school plays Mitchell in basketball and can't come close to competing? Last time I checked, Mitchell is a public, correct? What about East Lit or East Nashville Magnet as they are now called. Public school. Do you honestly feel this is fair? Do you want me to continue with baseball or can you answer the question, what is the difference in OPEN ZONE PUBLIC and PRIVATES?
  9. Alltime My guess, and you can correct me if i'm wrong, but I assume that the reason you feel privates have an advantage over county schools is (1) privates have no assigned "zone", if you live out of zone, you can still go there and (2) privates "recruit". (Please refer to my previous post, per TSSAA, recruiting is broader than just giving a kid part or whole tuition assistance to attend). You say its not that complicated, but what do you do when your county school plays an open zoned Alcoa or Greenville or Mitchell? They are public, correct? Is this fair?
  10. This is a different CPA team, they will run over whoever reps the east side of the bracket. Alcoa has not seen a team like CPA this year.
  11. Not trying to stir the pot, but where is Happy Valley? Is it near Kingsport?
  12. Sorry Milan folks, I just don't see this one going past half. Believe it or not, this is the best team Martin has put on the field since taking over. No egos, everyone knows the role they need to play. I don't see CPA being challenged until they reach the finals, most likely Alcoa.
  13. Keys to the game: (1) can Gallatin defend the multiple sets TC will throw at them? They do a great job running the same plays from different sets. (2) can Gallatin throw the ball? FC and GP could not throw the ball 2 feet in front of them and hit a brick wall so TC will not be able to put 8 or 9 in the box to defend the run if Gallatin has any passing game at all. If Gallatin cannot throw, will be a long night. Lastly, TC doesn't have any depth, Their main concern for the next 5 games is to avoid season ending injuries, if this happens, TC will be in trouble.
  14. No, I believe you need to call Jerry Springer and have him book Revcoach and bigstick12 and let them fight it out!!!!
  15. You may be correct about the DL job, however if DL continues winning the way they have this year, the head coach is already in place now. How can you replace a man with this much success? I agree with nrg..above, this school will just keep getting better. Look at Martins record, he won at GP when many times he did not have the talent of the team he beat. Give him the same or better talent and watch out.
  16. Go ahead and get Stewarts Creek now and enjoy. In 2 or at most 3 years time, Coach Martin will have this team contending for not only district, but state as well . This program is well ahead of anyone's expectations at this point. Coach Martin will join Rankin and others who have taken 2 teams to state titles.
  17. I can understand and agree with your logic as far as college coaching goes. My main point is that unless he does leave for a college position, using your logic I don't see him doing that, then I can't see ANY other high school job in TN as good as CPA including MBA, BA and even Ensworth. Therefore I can see him at CPA for a long, long time building a dynasty similar to an Alcoa or Maryville.
  18. How did GP do against Page? Will Page be a team to be concerned about this year?
  19. Where is CPA in this poll? They have 2 d-1 prospects already committed and great support. They may not be as good at QB as last year, but I don't see a huge drop off in talent. How can they not be in the top 10? How can Lipscomb be rated ahead of CPA?
  20. I second the CPA and Milan game, should be a TV game as well!
  21. Your PR team at Goodpasture football said you guys have a new transfer QB coming in. Is he local or has he recently moved there? Will he be a difference maker? Good luck this fall.
