Garrett Wall of Fairview impacts his team in all three phases of the game. Leads the team in rushing yards, and leads the team in tackles and on special teams he has a punt return for a TD. He means as much to his 6-0 team as any in 3A. His play directly translates into wins for his team.

We should start a 3a thread on the playoff outlook.

I do not think Fairview has a turnover this season. They have been taking good care of the ball. I hope it stays that way.

I read it wrong. I do think East has improved but I give the edge to Lewis by a TD.

#22 Wall has been a starter for the jackets since his freshman year. And lead the team in tackles the last two years with more then a 130 each year. He also was an all state linebacker last year. He does not have the offensive stats that wow people due to the balanced attack and depth of weapons on the offensive side of the ball. But he has been a big part of the stat colume that counts the most over the last three years at Fairview and that is the win colume.

Mc Donald was a senior last season. He has moved on.

I think you could add Josh Ortiz-Derrick to that list of incoming freshman he will be at Fairview.

I have noticed that these same people do not cry foul when they see college topics on this High School forum page. And I know I just saw topics on UTC , and MTSU and others in the past. So if you are going to point out the middle school threads and complain be consent and complain about all threads that do not consist of just High School Wrestling. Or you can turn your head and give the MS a pass, it seems to be working for you when it comes to College threads. Oh, good state tournament. Saw some great wrestling, the future looks bright.

Another Region 5 contender Josh Ortiz-Derrick at 180lbs , 37-1 the one loss was due to injury in a 4th place finish at Philo in Ohio where he was a #2 seed.

Looked to be two moms fighting mat side. We are trying to teach our boys character and how to win and lose with grace. This does not help. Need to do a better job keeping parents in the stands. We only need coaches ,wrestlers ,and tournament workers on the floor or mat side. And yes we need to grow the sport in region 5.

There is alot of great talent across the board in high school football these days and a chance to continue playing football at any level of college is getting more and more competitive.To try and belittle the scholarship offers of these young men is rude and baseless. Bethel finished #9 in NAIA football this year, and #16 in the year previous. After almost a half scholarship offer and other money added to there package most all of the kids at that level will have a free ride (if their grades are good). But you would have them walk on at UT Martin and pay 15,000. Not to mention D1-aa does not let just everyone walk on, most of the time you have to be a preferred walk-on. And a walk-on earning a scholarship is rare. Congrats to these young men.

Giles has played one team with a winning record (HC) and FV has played four teams with a winning record. I look to see a close match up. Fairview has been in some close games and had some diversity to try and overcome. It will be interesting to see how Giles may responded in what may be their first tight game of the year. Should be a good game.
