  1. My insider source says that the Martin kid's father played for Alsup's teams back in the late 80's. I am scrambling trying to remember the Dad's name though. That was back in my first glimpses at OHS football when they went back to back to the Clinic Bowl and fell short both yrs.
  2. Hey Gwave1....hope you are doing well these days and ready for some football. Has Blackman found any suitable replacements for the outstandingb LB's from last season?
  3. How is Woodruff looking so far? Is he any bigger?
  4. True wingman, but at least they are 1a and were 2a at the time.
  5. Wicked? Heck no. We all hold hands and sing Kum-ba-yah.
  6. Man oh man, OP....what are you doing telling all my secrets? You know I only pay off boys bball refs! As for the above post, that is what perplexed me about the whole Riverdale thing. How in the world did they not go back and audit Rankin's days in power. Big money rolling through there and I bet that Rankin never paid a dime of taxes on all those "bonuses" to stay at Riverdale when he pulled his yearly interview at another school to get Christmas cash.
  7. From what my sources tell me, Emmanuel will make his presence known this yr.
  8. Let me get my 2 cents in. When Price was at Coffee County, Oakland beat him every year. Oakland Patriots is correct, he goes for it on 4th down just about every single time. The man is quite a character. He is emotional and an in your face kind of coach. But, it never seemed to pay off for him against us. From what I hear, he is "playing up" so he doesn't have to be in the same classification as Rankin at Alcoa. So much for the applause in my opinion. So it seems he won the state championship in 2A playing with 3 A numbers. Now while that is commendable to win the state at any level, it sort of diminishes it for me to see the population he had there. As for Blackman, if it makes you guys feel studly to take on a state champion, why not trying playing Maryville or Alcoa ?
  9. I have never heard a male on the mike, but then again I normally wear earplugs when we have to play at BHS. That guitar twanging gives me a monster migraine if I don't.
  10. I would like to request Mr. Donkey to sing that song called "Feelings....nothing more than feelings..."
  11. I think this year they need to try some karaoke duets.
  12. They wonder why we have so many problems with kids and the heat. With school starting so soon, they have to give up 2 a-days and can't get them in shape as easily as they used to.
  13. My email is toopriceless4words@yahoo.com

  14. Man oh man.....I can't believe it is really you. I am so proud of you .

  15. Way to go, Pats on winning the passing league competition at MTSU.

  16. First of all let's relax a bit guys. I lay the bulk of responsibility on the principal. It sounds like from reading the documents from the comptroller's report that he was negligent in several areas in this. Let's also realize this problem was about the time Coach A came in. You can't just trust folk to do the right thing all the time. When you give them too much freedom, bad things can happen. As for Shag, you waffle worse than anyone I have ever seen. You acted like you were a Riverdale person when things got a bit heated for you ragging on Smyrna's boosters. I have my own ideas about your intentions....and am pretty sure you are from Blackman. BTW, there was an even worse scandal from a booster club in the area that never saw the light of day several yrs ago. That coach was a lot more part of the problem than the one from RHS is. And it wasn't at Oakland! Also, leave LOD be......he paid his dues more than enough to have a right to his opinion on here.
  17. Are you ready for some football?

  18. Good job, TDCman. I helped RHS football too. These are priceless moments for you, riverdaleman. I wish I could go back in time and enjoy my days as a Patriot parent and booster again. There is nothing like watching your son walking out on that field with his teammates in a state championship game. I hope you get to experience it too.
  19. Why the obsession with Smyrna boosters? Did they tell you once upon a time that you weren't welcome there? When 82Cat was there and in charge, seems like the boosters did a ton there. It was my understanding that the former head coach was given mucho dinero from boosters to keep the facilites/field tiptop there. Maybe you should ask him what he did to upgrade the place to earn that extra pay bedfore he vamooshed? Smyrna's facilites are much better than LaVergne's. With a former Smyrna man at the helm of the school board, I would think they would get all the breaks in some extra funding too. I am thinking you sound like a former CoachT'er on another lil ID yelping the same sad song.
  20. Riverdaleman, how much are season tickets going for these days?
  21. I am with you on this. I am sick of these people getting away with vandalism. I am sick of our tax dollars having to pay for clean-up, repairs, and new purchases of equipment while the vandals sit back and plan their next attack. Just another way to pass a boring weekend to them. Oakland has had their share of destruction over the years. We "knew" who vandalized our softball concession stand yrs ago. The guys got drunk/high and bragged about it.The information was turned in to authorites, but one of the ones involved was on seegull's basketball team that was headed to state, and a few others were members of other various sports teams at seegull. I think you know the rest of the story and why there supposedly wasn't enough evidence. Yet, when an Oakland athlete was suspected of being involved in some spraypainting at seegull to even the score, they came and rounded him up the next day. He wasn't involved though just tried to get attention by bragging that he was. Stupid, I know. I know the same type thing was suspected at Smyrna with baseball and basketball stars involved in some action that got swept under the carpet. I agree that an example has to be made. Too bad if it destroys someone's season, or embarrasses some high profile family....it is time to put a stop to this. I think the vandals should have to clean up the mess and be accountable monetarily. Then they need to have to stand up in front of the school they vandalized and make a public apology so everyone sees who did it. I was just messing with you nrgrizzles. It seemed like any thread we posted on, you hijacked it carrying on about the Smyrna vandals. It was classic.
  22. To some that may be considered a fault, to folk like me that is called a strength. I can't say enough good things about Coach U. Get ready to hear some Phil Collins "Calling in the Air" on game night.
  23. Rumors are swirling. It could be fans/players from Smyrna or it could be fans/players/parents from MTCS or maybe those lebanon players who tore up lavergne's locker room that time or it could be seegul kids with nothing to do with too much paint on their hands. up maybe it could be that mr donkey simply spilled the paint in his cart while loading water for the team and it just looks like words. or it could be nrgrizzles who got mad because they never solved the smyrna vandalism that time. All kidding aside, I hope the cameras were working this time and this one gets solved.
  24. I cannot begin to tell you all the reasons that this was a winning TD on this hire. My son played for Marty when he was at Oakland. He will be a part of our heart for life. Marty took a very divided team at OHS and a situation full of adversity and controversy and made it into a state championship team. Now I will be honest with you, Marty will stand up for what he believes is right. He will NOT back down and that may anger some of the powers that be. He will not care about what you write about him or say about him. Just be ready to say it to his face because he may come calling. But if you guys will let him do his job.... his knowledge, heart, competiveness, and enthusiasm will win you over and he will WIn with integrity , respect, and honor. Your kids will learn about God in the process too. I wish Marty and his family the very best. They are good people and his children have been raised right. I went and watched several of his games at BGA, and he's still "got it.' He is a winner through and through. Get Donnie Webb on the staff and you will see magic. Oh and trash him on here and you will learn about us OHS folk. Once a Patriot always a Patriot.
