  1. I tend to disagree. Ravenwood was very solid defensively this year. Very sound fundamentally and minimal mistakes. 11-0 in large part because of a strong defense.
  2. Maybe the adage should go something more like "competition makes you better." Getting destroyed by teams that you can't match up with doesn't teach a whole lot week in and week out. Being competitive and having successes and failures, wins and losses, that you can learn from and be encouraged by will grow results more than a weekly beat down.
  3. Is the case that Riverdale's pool of 2000 students today has significantly fewer good football players than its pool of 2000 students from 1995-2005?
  4. Swami, Why is the talent down now compared to the "glory days?"
  5. We can agree to disagree about what is classy or not as well as what "facts" and "reality" are. I'd just prefer people to be encouraging and uplifting to others on a forum where reading text often leaves you bereft of context. If you and the Summit supporter have a prior relationship that gives context to good natured ribbing, then perhaps I've been presumptuous and I apologize.
  6. I think class isn't limited to or defined by saying whatever you like, just because it is "reality."
  7. Describe the talent difference, please. Has enrollment changed drastically as more schools are added to the county? I believe they were counted at just over 2000 for this current classification and to my knowledge, this is a fairly consistent number for many years now. Am I off base with those numbers? If that is the case, the Jimmy's and Joes are still likely to be walking the hallways at RHS.
  8. How would you summarize the drop off parallels? I think coaching as a wholistic idea is the difference, likely. Not an insider but this would be my guess. It's not the difference between a good program and a bad program but between a great program and a good program. Rankin 194-25 (89%) and 4 state titles. Aydelott 69-23 (75%) and 0 state titles.
  9. Woodward. I don't know much about Maher outside of on the field observation of a handful of games. He seems to play hard and have the command of those around him. I'd encourage him to (at times) pay attention to his body language and be sure his posture and physical poise look like a champion but he is a kid so I'm knit picking now. I think Woodward is the real deal. Be patient, Bruins. He will win games. I think he is a foundation first kind of guy so let him get a row or two beyond the cornerstone before getting too worked up.
  10. IMHO, the call on Maher scrambling to the Brentwood sideline was actually good. His left foot went out about 3 yards short and the ball wasn't across the line. Bad spot, but still no first down. Officiating was equally good/bad, I'd say. Brentwood will be fine. They have a good leader.
  11. Maybin is the real deal and takes a backseat to nobody. Keep in mind, he is a year ahead. If you want to know who is faster you will probably get to see a foot race at some point on Friday.
  12. Wow. Have you seen both of them play? Those seem like pretty absolute statements.
  13. That's pretty much what I guessed you would say.
  14. Elaborate on the lack of adjustments. What play was Hillsboro running? What defense was Centennial in or what should they have been in? I wonder if its a theme
  15. I don't think I'd call WC "scary good." They're efficient and well coached and I like their balance. But Brentwood won't be scared.
  16. Wharton is scary whenever he has the ball but in the return game, especially punts, he is lethal. The more room he has to freelance, the better he is. Punt returns are where I've seen him do his best work. As far as his QB runs and other runs out of the backfield, just do plenty of pursuit drill. Contain the edge and force him inside but be warned, your inside out players had better be there. Wharton sees seams opening three steps before it happens. The rest of the game plan should favor MJ. Not that Indy is no good, just not as good as MJ.
  17. What I thought you'd jump all over was the chance to say what it is that Coach Dyson does well. Unless you're implying that he does nothing well, which I'd have to disagree with.
  18. Cane Ridge is a very new facility. Cookie cutter stadium and plenty of parking, especially since I doubt they pack the house. Ravens are very athletic and that makes the QB look good in my opinion. Very much a "Metro" style. Not very refined. Throw it up, athletes make plays. I will say, the new staff has things going the right direction. Just not quite up to 7-AAA yet. Riverdale out coaches, out hits and out classes Cane Ridge, 42-20.
  19. Mount Juliet 37 Independence 17 Wharton is dangerous. He scores 2 TDs on his own because he's that good and he's not much of a team guy. Bears maul Indy up front. Real bad. Real, real bad. Bears maul Indy in practice, meetings, play calling, motivation and organization.
  20. I thought the leprechaun would jump all over this...
  21. Hillsboro has two titles. Maplewood has been solid for a while now.
  22. I stll want to know what LOD is missing. Who would you go get if you could pick a coach today? Give me a dream answer and a realistic answer.
