  1. I was took by surprise while I was looking over the Associated Press high school football poll. The 3a polls is what drew my initial shock. They have Sequatchie County ranked at number 8. I mean that's great for the Squatch and all. I just wasn't expecting to see any 3a region 4 schools in the poll. http://www.dnj.com/story/sports/high-school/2016/08/15/oakland-blackman-smyrna-ranked-preseason-adivision-6a-record-pts-prv-1-maryville-8-0-0-80----2-oakland-0-0-68----3-whitehaven-0-0-58----4-blackman-0-0-56----5-bradley-central-0-0-43----6-smyrna-0-0-37----7-cordova-0-0-27----8-science-hill-0-0-2/88771498/
  2. I didn't predict or name a score for any game except the DeKalb-Warren County game. That was actually jackets86 who posted the 56-7 prediction for the Stone-York game. But as long as we're talking about that particular game, I'll go ahead and throw out my prediction for it as well as scores for other games played by our regions teams. Keep in mind this is nothing but a slightly educated guess on my part. I don't have extensive knowledge on or about either team. I'm going to say SM takes this game by a score of 45-20. More random guesses: Upperman 17 cookeville 48 SQ 13 SP 28 DC 31 WC 28 GC 10 whitwell 12 Cannon 9 community 41 SC 24 Macon 34 York 20 Stone 45
  3. No not quite. Not anywhere close to 5-10 for the majority of schools on yalls schedule. DC and SC likely has 0. Riverdale, Oakland, and Blackman are the only schools that may have 5 or more. Lebanon, Coffee, and Siegel may have 5 between the 3 of them. Smyrna and Cookeville may have 2-3 each. And I'm not talking NAIA, D3, etc. When I think legit college prospect I have Bowl Subdivision (SEC, ACC, Big Ten on the high end, Conference USA, Sun Belt on the low end) and Championship Subdivision ( teams like Chattanooga, Montana, North Dakota State) in mind.
  4. WC is always down year after year. The thing is that they're still a 6a school. A bad 6a school can play with an average 3a school. Their results vs. 3a-4 schools over the past 2-3 years prove that much IMO. WC 2013: vs DC: L 7-20, vs Smith Co: L 25-27 WC 2014: vs DC: W 34-30, vs SC: W 20-14 WC 2015: vs DC: L 14-23 vs Sequatchie Co: W 21-16 You mentioning K'Rojhn playing TE is the first I've heard of it, but that doesn't mean it isn't true either. You are correct about him being a D1 prospect as an offensive tackle. He's currently rated as a 3 star on 247 sports. He greatly wants to go to UT but hasn't received an offer from them. He currently holds 3 SEC offers however, and 6 total offers overall based on what 247 is showing. His offers from the SEC are Florida, Mississippi State, and South Carolina. Memphis, Tn Tech, and TN state make up the rest of the list. IMO the best route for him to take is one year of juco ball. He can get some proper coaching and likely watch his stock rise. Then maybe he would get a legit offer from UT and finally get to go to his dream school. He has the natural ability/talent, he's just incredibly raw. He hasn't received the best coaching over there at WC, naturally. http://247sports.com/Recruitment/KRojhn-Calbert-96874/RecruitInterests
  5. 31-28 DC. Thoughts? I'm expecting a hard fought game on both sides. I believe this is a game WC can win if they come to play.
  6. Excellent idea. I'm sure he hasn't received the best coaching at WC. One year at a JUCO school could really do him wonders. He would get the coaching he needs to learn the basic fundamentals of his position. His stock could rise tremendously if the raw talent is there, which I too believe it is.
  7. Not the outcome I expected. It's a bit worrisome even if it was just a jamboree. No way DC wins by that margin. This game could be a L for us actually. It will be close IMO. 31-28 DC!
  8. Any word or details on the Watertown jamboree?
  9. If you're a TN fan maybe you remember how Doofus Dooley chose not to sign ANY offensive lineman for the 2012 class. When Butch arrived at UT the cupboard concerning our OL was extremely bare thanks in large part to Dooley's idiotic decision. Due to that and other circumstances such as players transferring or being kicked off the team, plus at least one career ending injury, CBJ inherited a team greatly lacking in that department. We had very little depth, even less experience, and likely the least starting, quality SEC caliber type of linemen in the conference. Worley got destroyed every game that first year. For all of those reasons CBJ has recruited offensive lineman the hardest out of any position up until this year. We now have one of the best starting OLs in the SEC, and behind those starters is a depth chart that's fully stocked with lots of highly rated players. Currently we just don't have much of a need for them. Butch hasn't hardly recruited very many that's apart of the 2017 class. And even fewer legit offers have been thrown out their way. We currently have two OL signed and unfortunately for K'Rojhn I don't think we'll see UT take anymore, especially actual tackles. Maybe we'd take one guard, and I don't see us turning down a big 5 star offensive lineman if they wanted to commit here either. It's not that K'Rojhn isn't a SEC quality player, it's just CBJ seemingly held other offensive lineman in higher regard. Id love if he walked on at UT, I believe he'd earn a scholarship after his first year. I just don't see that ever happening considering he's apparently got 3 SEC offers already.
  10. It's getting close to time for yalls game one whooping!
  11. Does anyone have a Murphy Fair magazine and seen/know the coaches picks for this region? If so, what do they look like?
  12. Since Coach Braswell brought it up and acknowledged it in his previous post, what kind of checkered past and mistakes has he made? Somebody fill me in on all of that please.
  13. Yup, his numbers would look totally different if he would of had the WRs Phillips had around him, and even Poteete to a certain extent. Idk, maybe I'm more critical of him than most just because I'm from DC too. It seems like it's harder to appreciate something or someone when their "one of your own", or when you see them play every Friday night. He is a great player and a great leader. DC and any other team for that matter would be lucky to have him. But his stats/numbers really aren't mind blowing or overly impressive.
  14. How many players does GC have on their roster? Is it still in the low twenties?
  15. I've heard they have looked good. I don't put too much stock into 7 on 7s myself however. York truly is a wildcard IMO. They could make the playoffs, but I think they fall just short. I'm wrong more times than I'm right though.
  16. I didn't say anything about the DC/GC game last season, but since you brought it up, yes, yall will probably get a thumping in Smithville this season. Yall guys may be improved, but it still won't be enough to finish any higher than 5th place in the region.
  17. I truly believe this region is wide open for the taking this season. I don't believe there is one team that is head and shoulders better than the rest. A lot of people will say DC has the best odds/chance at winning the region, but I personally think they'res four teams capable of winning it. In no particular order, those four teams IMO are: DC, Smith Co, Upperman, Squatch. I don't think York is quite there yet. They are likely a year away from being able to climb up the ranks and make some real noise. They are certainly capable of playing spoiler however. Grundy County has another rough year coming their way. There is a lot of problems on the mountain right now. Unless things have changed, they barely have enough players to field a team if they all played one way. Cannon County is still Cannon County, and they will battle it out with GC to stay out of last place. Grundy likely wins that battle.
  18. Do you or does anybody else know of a website that I can go to that shows the stats of all starting QBs, well just any position really. If so, a link would be greatly appreciated. Don't get me wrong, Jennings is a great player in his own right, but he didn't put up super impressive stats last season, or any season for that matter.
  19. This game isn't even a rivalry, not yet at least. Before last season, when was the last time Upperman and Cookeville played each other in football? Had they ever? You have actually got to play a handful of games to spark up a real rivalry. Anybody can feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but besides last season, these two teams just haven't faced one another any at all in recent history. Does anyone know if this is going to become a yearly game? It really should be if for no other reason than gate purposes. If this game starts to be played fairly consistently, then it will quickly be on it's way to becoming a genuine football rivalry. The unfortunate thing is that it will be very one sided. Think along the lines of the Gordonsville/Smith County rivalry and that's what we got to look forward to.
  20. I'm going to look into that right now actually.

Danny Fish named head softball coach at DeKalb County High School. Great hire in my book! http://www.wjle.com/sports/danny-fish-named-dchs-girls-softball-coach
  22. Well Coach Fish certainly got it. Personally I think he's the right man for the job. Great hire in my book. I just looked over his resume, he definitely has the credentials. He's had quite a bit of success coaching in college at the D3 and NAIA levels. http://www.wjle.com/sports/danny-fish-named-dchs-girls-softball-coach
