I was lucky enough to watch both games in person this weekend. I have to say I had as much worry about HC as SC until Firday. HCs QB is better than I expected but the other skill positions not. Mainly though, Henry county's lines are either young or inexperienced or both. Either way, they donn't match up with Beech and I'll go ahead and say this one will be ugly because of that.

No. If Hurd is in the game, Hurd is the key.

Here is what I think so far. ESPN will be disappointed if they think this will be a good game, unless thay are Beech fans. Clock will run in the fourth. Hurd stops Malone, no one stops Hurd.

I gotta go ahead an say Henry County's year will begin and end at the mercy of Jalen Hurd and Beech HS.

I don't say things I don't seriously believe. Henry county won 2 years ago when they were state champ caliber. Last year they were never in the game. We have nothing to gain from this matchup.

Siegel makes our schedule stronger for sure. Not sure what the thinking was on the Independence and Henry County spots. Neither are in our league talentwise. Best thing that can happen is running the clock in the second half. Worst is some injury. Don't understand.

I haven't seen this much excitement and expectation since Lane Kiffin was hired in Knoxville.

This is a Beech thread. The Henry County thread is several lines down. I'm a troll when I post there, not here.

I agree MJ will be a challenge this year. I will be accused of trash talking and not being respectful but I have got to say it because someone has to: Beech will run the score up many times this year, mostly in the first half. The mercy rule will be in effect the 3rd quarter more games than not. Sorry to have to say it Henry County, but this will be true Week 1. Jalen Hurd is that good and there is no point pretending he is not.

I wouldn't cancel any seasons yet. Just making the point that we don't feel threatened, especially not from a West TN team.

Our kids have a W marked already on the schedule. Hurd is getting better.

Many here believe it is a fore gone conclusion that JH will set a state record against Henry County next year. I do for sure.

I don't consider OSU's coach to have long term stability. Announced retirement in 2009 at age 45 due to burn out, returned same year to coach in a bowl game, retired again, multiple health scares with heart that did not prove serious, passing out, etc.

I'm sure UT will do their due diligence, but . . . Hurd will be the Number 1 recruit next year. If I were him, my thinking would go like this: Need a stable and proven coach, in an elite school, in the best conference. My opinion is, and sure all of you will agree, is that Alabama, Georgia, LSU, and probably South Carolina fit this criteria. I doubt he should seriously consider anywhere else.

On a different note (I'm trying to get moderator of the year), who wins the game between Notre Dame and Alabama? I say Alabama by 4 touchdowns.
