  1. Awwwww. They are somewhat plain and very traditional but I wouldnt say there are the ugliest uniforms ever lol
  2. This night, Knox West deserved to win. Both excellent teams. The weather favored a run oriented offense and the Hillsboro offense I would say is balanced 50-50 run to pass. The weather is not an excuse. You have to play with the given conditions. #5 this night was by far the best player on the field. Very impressive. I would love to see these teams play again on a dry fast field. Congrats to the Rebels on a game well played AND to the Burros. Both are impressive teams.
  3. Turnovers will decide this one and with the rain, there could be many.
  4. The privates make me chuckle lol. They are like the lil kid off to the side screamin "look at me! Look at me." The classifications are set up based upon student population, schools that are limited by some geographic limits and prohibited funding of students. I have an idea! Privates prohibit "scholarships and " financial aid", limit funding for facilities (Vandy would swap with Ensworth any day lol) and require athletic competitors to be from a limited geographic area, then join the classifications. Nah. I didn't think you were interested. Oh, btw one of my sons has two state championship rings playing for a private. I get so tired of this bleating from these privates who are out of the limelight cept for their private circles. There can be no "true" champion unless there are no rules and it is a free for all for all schools. No thanks.
  5. Came here to see some leads on Summit's head coach and find a personal vendetta. Really??? Suggestion for you...new topic...College vs High School Coaches-Which is better? Back to this topic...any rumors floating around?
  6. I think so too. I think Ensworth could make it a competitive game.
  7. LOD: "For those who do not want to compare football with combat, you have evidently seen neither! Football prepares you for war and vice versa. If it was 'touchy-feely' like you want it would be Basketball!" I was actually enjoying your post till this comment. You were not comparing football to war. I agree there are a lot of similarities, you were dissing Metro schools and their kids. I would have a lot more respect for u if had just apologized for the off-the-cuff remark but your ego is too big for that which figures when you wanted to list your tours. Anyway, Merry Christmas and try to stay positive on Riverdale for next year.
  8. LOD: Oh I am well aware of American objectives and accomplishments in each of those conflicts; this Message Board is not the place for such a discussion. It is about High School football and a bunch of kids. Your service to this country while deeply respected, is no excuse to diss Metro's coaches, students and programs to somehow further your argument. My kids have been in both privates and publics with two state championships. I see Metro programs loaded with talent and coaches having special challenges in Metro. I admire them even though my boys never played in Metro. Your program's dropoff is due to rapid population expansion in the county. For example, If Maryville, an excellent program, had to endure the same demographic challenges and did not have its open zone cloak, i feel their record would not be so storied. JMHO
  9. LOD: "Yes, I am angry. I am angry that a great program has been brought down to being a run of the mill 4A level Metro Program..... I did not like it when I had to go to places like Vietnam, Grenada, Panama, and Iraq, but I did it. To me this is the same as it has to be done." Really?? Are you serious?? You diss Metro schools, coaches and kids??? You invoke your travel itinerary like we are supposed to be impressed?? Get a life man. You are losing it. Go check yourself in. What a jerk.
  10. I agree wholeheartedly with your assessment. I have had boys play for state championships on both public and private sides. There needs to be a complete split between publics and privates (can still play each other but no impact on their playoff standings). Then the publics need to fix the open zone issue as well. It makes no sense for them to compete within the same system as it makes no sense for NASCAR to compete against Formula 1. Nothing bad about either but just two different animals.
  11. Following this thread and having a hard time with the Metro Bashing. What school or region are you suggesting? Curious...
  12. You are right on the scrimmages They are a good thing too. I believe though that since those skirmishes are under the radar, they don't have that visibility of a game. I dont follow Maryville except here but it seems to me the big reason they do not play Ensworth or BA is that the game doesn't interest them that much as much as playing in their neighborhood. I love local rivalries and would love to see BA and BHS, especially this year. I loved the BGA FHS games. Not sure who ended that. And, I went to that Alcoa Maryville game in August. Wow! One other thing Ive seen is sheer expense keeps some teams closer to home. I really never thought much about it on my private side but it was painfully obvious an issue on my public side. Maybe we will see some common ground in the future.
  13. BigDog I agree in the BA BHS example; BHS would be minimally impacted by such a game. I am not certain a Riverdale, Oakland, Dickson or Mt Juliet would feel the same. Im not familiar with Chatt town but having my boys play private and public, I see where it upsets coaches when privates show up at their feeder Middle School games in full regalia and do the usual "encouragement". Here in Nashville, at least one school has the luxury of country music 'stars' to do the encouraging lol. Again, I understand why free zones do what they do and the same for the zoned schools. Just business. Not sure how you can fix the problem except to schedule more interstate competition. Do chattanooga privates schedule any GA public schools? I dont see a threat to a GA zoned school under those corcumstances.
  14. You hit it on the head pepvol. Seems BA ought to be playing BHS down the street first before chasing across the State. I guess because those schools don't want to invite the wolf into the henhouse anymore than they are now. Zoned schools have enough problems hanging on to kids in their feeder schools by unzoned schools. Nothing wrong with what they do (IMO) but why help them? I guess if Georgia was limited to GA recruits but Bama could recruit everywhere, GA wouldnt be too keen inviting them to GA to play.
  15. Greyrider and Pepvol...your last comments make the most sense I have read on this thread I don't even follow Maryville. I did have one boy play ball on the private side and yes, recruiting takes place and so does "financial aid"....very creative methods. Not judging it at all just not sure why the need to deny it occurs.
