  1. I don't know about that. Don't know much about Grainger County but they brought a good looking very athletic team to the jamboree last week and I think they put up 58 points in 2 quarters tonight if the CoachT scoreboard was correct. Not looking forward to that game but at least we get them at Death Valley this year.
  2. 21-14. Good win for South but both teams leave here with much to work on. Would have nailed the score if we had not fumbled on the 5 yard line.
  3. Either get there three hours early or go pay $20 a seat for the empty upper deck seats on the homeside.
  4. FB, for some reason it's a Indian poster that is raising all the hubbub here. I think you're right on a lot of ways the only difference I would say is that I think is going to be a large 5A school instead. They are planning for 1700 max.
  5. I'd honestly like to but it's hard to skip the Boone game for me. Lots of friends over there and the way these two schools are just a few miles apart and sharing a county line boundary it has built into a pretty intense rivalry over the last 10 years or so. We've had their number the past couple years and are down some this year so they will be looking to avenge that 56-0 beat down last year. Still don't know what to make of my Rebels this year. The only way Central could move the ball was on a few long passes (one 80 yard TD) so the score is a little deceiving.
  6. Just some discussion fodder for you poodle followers for later this year. Went to see my old team (North) play Central last night. Raiders greatly improved versus last year. Beat Central 24-14. Biggest thing of note (other than the 6-5/355 center) is that only 2 or 3 kids appeared to play both offense and defense. Surprised to see that at a school with 35 to 40 players which probably includes freshmen. Good luck tonight.
  7. Central 20 yd pass for TD. Bounced off one cougars hands to another one behind him. North 17 Central 14 - 8:46 4th Q.
  8. 80 yard Central pass for TD. North 17 Central 7 - 3.6 sec 3rd Q.
  9. Well I decided too come see this game tonight and discovered that North has their own 6' 5" 355 lb player. This one is a senior and is the starting center. Cougars 1 possession and a punt. Raiders get the ball at Central 40ish and drive it in for a score. North 8 Central 0 at 7:44 in 1st Q.
  10. It would be a force to reckon with if they build the facilities and assemble the staff needed to convince students to stay at home and quit transferring out. The Central area has had so many players going to D-B, Tennessee High, and Sullivan South the last 10 years or so it is pitiful. More than a few All-State and lots of All-Conference players at the 3 schools above were zoned for Central. Heard they would prefer to put it on the 4-lane connector road from I-81 going over to the airport but that was just a rumor, I don't have any references to back that up.
  11. That was the recommendation from the study that Sullivan County had done and it was officially adopted by the county board of education a few weeks ago. I think it will most likely fall in the high end of the 5A category though - not sure exactly how much of Central (Kingsport side) will go to the new school. Students on the eastern side of Central's territory will be shifted to Sullivan East. The numbers they are throwing around are that there would be two 1700 student high schools in Sullivan County. Much of the North population is threatening to jump over the state line to Gate City, VA. GC currently allows a little of that (I hear tuition free) but they could not accept an influx like that. North folks are up in arms because schools have been closing over in that area like crazy. The date they are talking about is opening in 2019 but plans will probably shift somewhat.
  12. Saw him up close at the jamboree. Actually thought he was taller. Didn't start either way but as my buddy said "You can't coach up Size"! Central's 1's looked surprisingly good against Greeneville but I'm not a believer yet. Too close to call.
  13. Ten years ago I would have said no. They seemed to keep trying to force things that just were not working. They have shown more flexibility the last 5 years and seem more willing to change things up.
  14. I think Carter county must have more coacht posters per capita than any other county out there. You guys have almost convinced me to skip my Rebels game against Boone on Friday and go cheer on the "Poodles" in NC.
  15. Holy Cow!!! What did he run into?
  16. Northview was basically built to prevent overcrowding for Sevier County. New school that is based in Kodak right off the interstate exit to Sevierville. They split off that area and started building grade by grade as the students progressed. If they are anything like Sevier County they will be fantastic in a hurry but enrollment is still growing year by year as they add grades. Not sure if they are to the 12th grade yet.
  17. That's interesting. I think that most likely would have been West Greene but I don't know. I don't know yet what to expect out of this years edition of the Rebels. Looking at the Sonny Moore power ratings, if the Buffalos have not improved markedly, the Rebels would have had to fall from #38 to about #280 to be even with West Greene. I know they lost a lot but I can't see anywhere close to that far of a drop.
  18. Seymour is in 4A conference. They didn't come to their conference jamboree in Greeneville. I was looking forward to seeing them.
  19. What he is talking about is the 14-6 performance halfway through before liberal substitutions started. It just wasn't what we expected.
  20. Boone fans don't appear too hopeful for this year. Haven't heard too many encouraging words from my buddies over there. I'm personally wondering how the QB situation will work out. The Soph. looks very good and is super quick but I was pleasantly surprised by the Senior who played back-up last night. Don't even remember him from last year but he looked really good. Hunter and Lucas both looked really good as well. Hoping to see improved line play this year as those guys are mostly returning and have another year of maturity under their belt. South 28 Boone 14
  21. Were you at the scrimmage? That isn't quite what I saw but I agree there should only be one tough conference game for them. If the limited playing time in the scrimmage affected them that badly then something is wrong in conditioning. I'd prefer to believe that collectively their heart just wasn't in it last night.
  22. This is way out in the future but I would hope one thing that would happen would be that some of the type kids that Central lost to other schools in the past might decide to stay home. The list of kids that were zoned for Central who decided to go to other schools and ended up with all-state and all-conference recognition is downright embarrassing.
