  1. Prophet- Corbin McOlgan attends Christian Brothers High School. He does not go to MBA. That would mean MBA would only have one champion, and CBHS would have six, based on your predictions.
  2. 106 Trey Chalifoux 113 Elijah Oliver 120 John David Santi 126 Nicholas Gray 132 Brandon Brunner 138 Pierce Olson 145 Luke Parrish 152 Kaleb Baker 160 Brandon Hataway 170 Barrett Walthall 182 Houston Clements 195 Corbin McOlgan 220 Amos Mason 228 Big Boy Robertson Chalifoux looks to be a man on a mission. I See him beating Michael Murphy, in one heck of a match! Brothers get a huge upset in the finals at 120 as Santi is Red Hot as of late. Brandon Brunner rises to the occasion and wins the hardest weight in the state (3-state champs). This will be his 4th title. 138, Cosgrove would be the easy pick, but I just have a feeling the weight cut will be too much, and I don't trust Sutherland after his performance against Parrish and coming off a foot surgery. AND Olson has been hot as well! Best match: 106 (Murphy/Chalifoux) or 126 (Gray/Fisher) OW: Baker or Oliver, probably Baker given he's a senior Best Semis match up: Brunner/Akers Team Standings: CBHS, Baylor/FR, McCallie
  3. I attempted to start a thread on this earlier in the month, so I'm glad someone else picked it back up. But the real story is how did UTC let out of state talent such as Kaleb Baker (Arizona State), Houston Clements (North Carolina), and Brandon Brunner (South Dakota State) all slip out of their hands? This year's class of 2013 Seniors is as talented as I've seen come out of the state of TN. UTC needs to do all they can to avoid losing guys like this in the future and they can start by signing guys like Barrett Walthall, Keagan Matlock, and Aaron Lopez.
  4. Sorry if I left some people out or got some weights wrong...always hard with a preseason list. I went off of last year's state tournament brackets and my own personal opinion. Please comment or post your own! 106 1-Tanner Tidswell (CBHS) 2-Justin Becci (BA) 3-Michael Murphy (Baylor) 4-Addison Cordell (McCallie) 113 1-Michael Eckhart (FR) 2-John David Santi (CBHS) 3-James Westbrooks (McCallie) 4-Mark Floyd (MBA) 120 1-Elijah Oliver (CBHS) 2-Alex Elsea (McCallie) 3-Christopher Wesnofonske (FR) 4-Caleb Powell (Baylor) 126 1-Nick Gray (CBHS) 2-Hal Fisher (FR) 3-Adam Connell (McCallie) 4-Blake Solarek (MBA) 132 1-Tate Robinson (Baylor) 2-James Simpson (FR) 3-Griffin Davis (McCallie) 4-Johnathon Tully (MBA) 138 1-Brandon Brunner (Baylor) 2-Mike Akers (FR) 3-Pierce Olson (BGA) 4- 145 1-Mark Marchetti (FR) 2-Luke Parrish (CBHS) 3-Blake Sutherland (Baylor) 4- 152 1-Kaleb Baker (CBHS) 2-Bryson Popp (Baylor) 3-Andre Nevle (SBA) 4-Patrick Cosgrove (FR) 160 1-Houston Clements (Baylor) 2-Brandon Hataway (CBHS) 3-Eli Goldstien (MUS) 4-Andrew Gentuso (DCA) 170 1-Barrett Walthall (CBHS) 2-Mason Mingus (FRA) 3-John Wallis (SBA) 4-Callum Mcroskey (McCallie) 182 1-Franklin Garstin (MBA) 2-Nathan Hoodenpyle (McCallie) 3-Price Byers (CBHS) 4-Ryan Parker (Baylor) 195 1-Jeremy Brandon (CBHS) 2-Blake Douglass (Fay. 5. My apologies! McCallie should definitely be on everyone's list. With a coach like Gordon Connell the Tornadoes will always be a force. My post has been edited. McCallie in at #7
  6. Who are all the seniors this year that have scholarships and will be wrestling in college? Let's get a list going: -Kaleb Baker (Arizona State Sun Devils) -Houston Clements (North Carolina Tarheels) Who else? Who is next? This is a great sign of things to come for TN wrestling. I can't remember the last time our state had two kids sign with major D1 programs. Especially this early!
  7. 1. Christian Brothers 2. Father Ryan 3. Soddy Daisy 4. Baylor 5. Cleveland 6. Bradley 7. McCallie 8. MBA 9.Blackmon 10.St. Benedict
  8. 1. Kaleb Baker - ranked 19th in the nation 2. Turbo Smith - only current wrestler in state to hold a victory over #1, Baker 3. Houston Clements - signed with North Carolina 4. Nick Gray - best technique in state at any weight 5. Marc Marchette - bulldog, enormous collegiate potential 6. Amos Mason - athletic big guy, most intimidating wrestler in state, will likely play football in college 7. Barrett Walthall - lost in final to Michael Hooker, defeated Blake Henry of SD 8. Brandon Brunner - 3x State Champ, but no out of state credentials 9. TJ Satterfield - one of the best big guys this state has, would love to see him wrestle Mason 10. Blake Henry - always in the mix, fun to watch, no out of state credentials
  9. That would be HUGE for Memphis wrestling. A great opportunity for some great exposure. I will get on my connections and make sure an invite is sent to you! Thanks Thadd! Love what you're doing here.
  10. Keep a serious eye out for Tanner Tidswell from Christian Brothers this year! Look for the kid to come out of nowhere and be a force immediately!
  11. Great point CBG. It has gotten ridiculous the amount of money one has to spend now a days to get their wrestler the best training, competition, facilities, etc. As much as I hate to say it, often times you have to be willing to make some financial sacrifices if you want your son/wrestler to be successful. Traveling to tournaments like the Super 32 is one of the most efficient ways to improve. To be the best, you have to compete against the best, and learn to eventually beat the best!
  12. Thanks for the help, thats very informative! And best of luck to you and your Tornados this year. I predict you're the spark the Tornados' program has been lacking in the past.
  13. Awesome news! you are what this state needs to help wrestling grow collectively! Thanks for your hard work. Black Horse Invitational 11/30-12/1 SBA vs. CBHS at SBA 1/10 CBHS Duals including Soddy Daisy, CBHS, Centennial, Collierville, Cordova, Arlington 1/19
  14. Wgod- would you be interested in covering any Memphis area events or is it too far out of the way for you? My feelings won't be hurt by honesty. Just wondering.
  15. Can someone please list the Memphis area sites?
  16. Still can't believe a school with the tremendous reputation that Baylor has would accept a student who was expelled from another school in the same division. Regardless of whether or not he was recruited, It speaks volumes about what Baylor will do in order to win... Why did Kaleb Baker from Christian Brothers not wrestle in this event? One would have to think he would have definitely placed. Can't believe we didn't have a single Tennessean place in the whole tournament.
