  1. Gomab, Warren Co has a few you should check out, the top 4 are: Brooks Majors: starts for the varsity team, PG, shoot the lights out Warren Swann: 6'4" SF, can dunk and shoot outside Shay Glenn: 6'1" SG, has the complete game Brandon Adcock: 6'4" C, great inside strength have you heard about any of these?
  2. Steam coming from a player's head on that first night of real football weather.
  3. The seeding for the tournament should be as follows: 1) Cookeville (works very hard, not much talent in the long run) 2) Oakland (record looks much better than they are now, losses of players have hurt them) 3) Warren Co. (loads of talent, not very tough, possible dark horse) 4) White Co. (very hard-working, still surprised they beat Oakland) 5) Riverdale (with Gaston they are very good, without very bad) 6) Lebanon (the only reason they aren't last is the Blackman is horrible) 7) Blackman (see #6) The next question is what will happen in the tourney: 1st Round: Cookeville: bye Oakland kills Blackman Warren Co. gets by Lebanon Gaston plays, Riverdale wins, he doesn't they lose 2nd Round: Cookeville beats Riverdale, Gaston or no Gaston Warren Co. upsets Oakland, WC's peaking Oakland's fading Consolation Round: Oakland beats Riverdale Finals: I can't wait
  4. Warren Co. (5-7, sweep the rest of games except Lebanon) A very close Warren Co. win backed by the Front Row Bros, who by the way have been very quiet the last couple of games. A little advice guys, yelling during the first quarter and stopping until the 4th looks really bad. Keep it up throughout the game, don't let up. Don't let Cookeville's students show you up tonight. Also, I'm looking forward to seeing this vaunted Cookeville student section.
  5. There is a big difference in high schoolers running these 40's with their coaches' thumbs determining the time. The numbers that college kids and pros run in the combines are laser timed, they're legit. Unless a high school is using lasers to time their 40's they simply aren't legit.
  6. keg, Warren County is playing great right now. Randal Harrell and Reece Bishop have been taking turns scoring 30+. They will both need to have HUGE games tonight. Another reason this should be interesting is these two teams are likely to end up 4 & 5 in the district and therefore play in the first round of the tourney for a chance to continue to regions. For what it counts, here's my predictions for final order of finish in the district: 1) Oakland (12-0, nobody's close) 2) Lebanon (9-3, no one else is as deep) 3) Blackman (7-5, good start, looked terrible against Oakland) 4) Cookeville (6-6, dangerous team in the tourney) 5) Warren Co. (5-7, sweep the rest of games except Lebanon) 6) Riverdale (3-9, just not there yet, but man is that freshman good) 7) White Co. (0-12, still rebuilding) but hey, anything could happen
  7. When Cumberland County actually makes it past a decent team from Murfreesboro in the 1st round of the playoffs, then they should start talking about a "great team". You had 17 seniors starting and now you think you can do better because you won some JV games... Get over it and wake up, "yuns"!!! After the way you were beat in the playoffs, don't you think Oakland's JV could have beat you?
  8. Is the best decision to use a ligament from a cadaver or use a portion of the patellar tendon? I don't think the family has made a decision.
  9. The Cookeville freshman team is actually pretty tough. They beat Warren Co. by 20 at Cookeville and by 3 in Warren Co. I heard they beat Oakland and Oakland is absolutely loaded. WC should have beat them here, but turnovers and no timeout at the end cost the Pioneers. What is Cookeville's record now and who else beat them other that Oakland?
  10. This is a must-win for Warren Co. They are 0-2 in the district after two games that they could have won. Cookeville will play hard, as always. This should be a great one. Warren Co.'s players have to start playing smarter, fouling less, and take their time. Just a couple of questions: 1) Warren Co. views this as their top rivalry (according to last nights pre-game). Why does Cookeville not look at it the same way. Who does Cookeville see as their top rival? 2) What's up with Cookeville's bleachers? As much money as there is in Cookeville and they can't get their bleachers open. Try bringing over an engineer from Tech, you're going to need those open Friday night. Or are ya'll just going to put Warren Co. in the upper deck to try to quiet us down?
  11. Front Row Bros, it is GREAT to see you guys out in full force. However, you guys need to get LOUDER and get some new cheers. FRBII looks just like the old ones, only with no JH down front. Get louder and original. I expect to see that student section spilling over into the "old folks" section nextdoor Friday night. As for me, I keep my distance, you guys are just too rowdy. P.S. Show up and cheer for the girls too.
  12. Unless they fix their attitudes from last year, probably not very well.
  13. Cumberland County guys, you should wake up. You are a pretty decent team in a VERY, VERY, VERY weak region. You CANNOT match up against the guys from Murfreesboro, none of them. You have to realize that. Yes, your O-line is big, that's it. They stand straight up, don't fire off the ball, and can't pass block. Your D-line let Warren Co. run for 3 TD's. Imagine what the other 5A schools will do. Enjoy your run through your own region, but you will receive a wakeup call in the playoffs. You can't beat a single team that you have potential of playing in the first round. Sorry.
  14. This is the truth. These coaches take ribbing and worse all day long and are trying their absolute best. Two are very young and the other is new to the area. Others are pitching in on game night, but these three are working pretty much alone. That's right, 3 coaches for a 5-A school. Another recommendation should go to Warren County's fans. Old Nunley Stadium was absolutely packed Friday night. They may need to be told by the PA announcer to cheer when the other team is going for a fourth down, but they show up and stick with this team through the losses, suspensions, and everything else. Way to go fans and coaches!!!!

  16. Kellraiser, You forgot to mention the onside kick up by 30+ in the second half. I totally agree with you, this coaching staff had no class for running up the score. Cumberland Co. should remember one thing: they will see Warren Co. every year now that we're in the same region. It hasn't been that long since they were in our shoes, the worm will turn. Maybe they are just remembering the 42-0 pasting in the Nurseryman's Bowl back when Warren Co. had winning teams. Yes, we do hold onto things for a long time down in the valley, that is what should worry the Cumberland Co. Jets for future years. You can't keep a good town down. Turn it around Pioneers. Go Pioneers and whoever is playing the CC Jets!!!
  17. yes, come see us when the season's over
  18. Could this be a new era? Could the temporary(?) promotion of pioneer8991's high school and college teammate persuade the legend to return? Could the dismal showing by the Pioneers cause pioneer8991 and some of his other former teammates to come out of the woodwork to help? These questions need answered. Amen about pioneer95's language skills. Rasta, you'll get a good mark for pointing that out. Please work on that. [Edited by eagle79 on 9-20-02 1:30P]
  19. with this negative attitude and comment, you are bringing stuff of this board that has no place. As stated before, if you are a Pioneer, you should not be airing this kind of dirty laundry. Sure, everyone knows about this horrible situation. Reminding is not needed. Also, if you are knowledgable about football, you know that strength and technique cannot be improved dramatically since April or May. Improvements have been made and the players' attitudes are turned around. They would probably stay that way if people like you would keep these types of comments to yourself.

    Ray Barnes

scarto, thanks, it was great to hear some of those old one-liners again. I agree, Ray Barnes is a wonderful coach. Just look, he was able to win in Warren County. What an accomplishment!!!
