  1. I heard the coaches (boys and girls) from last year were given their choice of Cumberland or the new school (Stone Memorial) and both have chosen to move to the new school. Does anyone have any info?
  2. I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything about who will be the next coach? Applicants? Interviews? Etc.?
  3. According to the Slandard, no girls, only Brooks from the boys. Locke and B. Frazier did get honorable mention. In an upset, no Warren County coach received coach of the year, I was SHOCKED
  4. What's the outlook (coach, players, etc.) for next year?
  5. Game time changed to 5:00 for the girls' game, so probably 6:30ish for boys.
  6. Has Keith been able to get eligible for NCAA? If so, where's he leaning?
  7. I wil repeat myself, the team that scores the most wins!! Not the team with more rebounds, deflections, charges taken, or even forced turnovers. Sure those usually equal a win, but not always. There has never been a game, 0%, nada, when the team with the most points lost.
  8. The old saying is: Offense wins games, defense wins championships. I disagree. My saying is: He (or she) who scores the most points wins. I don't care if I give up 90 if I score 91.
  9. If anyone has any hard knowledge about what will be happening, please post. I do know it will be Cumberland County's coach's decision to stay or go to Stone. The new coach will go where he doesn't want to go. What does anyone think will be his decision? What district, etc. will Stone be in? What is their mascot/colors?
  10. As someone who has watched these same guys play together for a long time, the talent is there. If you think that Majors and Glenn wouldn't be impact players on other teams, you're kidding yourself and selling them short. Also, you are forgetting Wood and Swann. Both played on the Midstate Ballerz Select team that fiinished third in AAU state. Both of them have the best potential at the next level. All four of these guys could play on other teams in the district and region. I think all would start at Blackman or Coffee or a couple at Lebanon or Oakland or Riverdale. Don't sell the kids short.
  11. I know that the new school is supposed to eventually hold more than the old one. It is located off of exit 320, right next to the interstate. I know there are Cumb. Co. people on here. Don't you guys have some info?
  12. How will the opening of the new school there affect the sports in Cumberland County? What classification will the new school be? Are any top players zoned to go there?
  13. I saw Antioch play over the break and have seen Doug Keil's boys team throughout the years, I was wondering, why don't more girls' teams play 94 feet? Antioch seems to be making it work, do any other teams? What is the key? Can you do it with athletes not on Antioch's level?
  14. After seeing both teams play, Siegel is head and shoulders better than Cookeville. Shut down Hill and you'll win. I really don't think the Cavs have an answer for Oden. This is another case of the only people who can stop the Stars are the Stars.

  20. priceless, you put it exactly right. Warren County is improving with each game. I do have to say, as far as this game was concerned, they were lucky to be in the game. Turnovers and missed free throws throughout the game almost cost Warren County the game in regulation. However, the charge call on Brooks at the end of regulation was horrible. Referees have to let the kids decide the game on the court. Brooks hit the side of the Cookeville defender which usually results in a block call. Terrin Martin was wide open after the dish to finish the game right there. This call seemed to take the wind out of the Pioneers' sails. A few bright spots were there, though. Wood with 2 more dunks, both impressive. Swann shooting the ball well from outside and playing a little D on Hennigan. Martin shutting down Hill for most of the game. Brooks controlling the ball and dishing when he needs to. I myself would like to see a little of the old Matt Cotten press break instead of back and forth passing. If the turnovers and missed free throws can get fixed, I predict a blowout at the Reservation Friday night in both games, just with R'dale only winning the girls' game.
  21. I saw Siegel Friday night and they are for real. I'm not saying they are better overall without Ramsey, but their offense flows better and they run a LOT better than I've ever seen them. They are for real. BTW, Siegel Nation, it was nice hosting you guys. Nice shirts. Kinda disappointed in the variety of cheers. Overall, nice showing. P.S. What could bring Siegel down is the attitude. Jimmy got ANOTHER T Friday and the coach had to use a TO b/c Roper was walking off the court after being subbed at the end and the ref was about to T him. These things are minor when you are up 30, but they become habits and can rise up in close games.
  22. OK, Adam did break the backboard, but even he says he didn't hit it all that hard. It must have been just waiting to go. Secondly, Adcock could score, that's it. Adam plays both ends of the court, he can move on D, shoot, and block shots. Adcock couldn't do any of those. Honestly, the only thing that Adcock could probably do better than Adam is fish, and that might not be true. Stewie, I'm not sure why you're pumping a guy who dumped this team instead of someone who is absolutely playing their tail off every night. Explanation? This team is a lot more than Adam or Brooks or Terrin. They go 8-10 deep without much dropoff. However, the biggest difference is on the bench. If you haven't been here, you don't realize how far this team has come on that account. They aren't as good as they are going to be. No team is in December. If they are, that's a problem. No matter the outcome of this game, no one will want to draw Warren County in the district, mark my word.
  23. The man defense did break down, but if you consider how many back cuts Moore County made, and only worked on a couple that's pretty good. The help side defense getting steals was a huge improvement. Weitzel needs to put meat on his bones. I get so tired of hearing that sentiment. He is never going to be Karl Malone. He is only 15. He will get stronger just with age. More than muscle, he just needs timing on his blocked shots. I would rather have his slight frame, especially to go to the next level, than a thick body like Moore County's center.
  24. What a night for Warren County basketball. It is like a cloud has lifted After the thrilling last second win for the girls, the boys put on a show. Starting the game 9-0 the Pioneers never looked back. There were so many wonderful things to mention for the Pioneers in this game. First off, Chris Weitzel is going to be good, very good. 12 points, driving, reversing, and oh yeah, he's a sophomore. Brooks Majors looked to have that old aggressiveness back. 13 points with fearless play. Ricky Curtis had the stroke going from downtown. Adam Wood with the first dunk for Warren County in three years with an awesome putback. Warren Swann quietly leading the scoring with 14. All of this and there are a couple more players who didn't play and a couple who had off nights. This could be a good year. I know this was only Moore County, but these are games that are supposed to be blowouts and for the last couple of years, they weren't. I saw more last night to be excited about than I have seen in a long time. Way to go Pioneers. Congratulations to Ryan Smith on the first of what I hope will be many wins.
  25. cat, you totally stole my thunder on every point. The bottom line for all of this is AAU. All of the best players play. When Gomab's team won the state this year, it was the first time in over a decade it wasn't won by someone from Memphis. That is where the best players are. If you could see the substates in the other areas compared with the substates in Nashville and Memphis, there is no comparison. Trust me, my team won one of the other ones and barely won a game at state. Single A just doesn't have the night in-night out competition of AAA or AA in west TN. Go see some games. BTW, fatty, don't assume what you don't know. It seems odd to me that someone over 50 (what you would have to be to be mine and Gomab's big papi) is so fired up. I think my guess was right, you have had a kid or grandkid (if you're so old) slighted. Also, there is no way you know anyone who knows TN basketball STATEWIDE like Gomab.
