  1. When you look at the video by the TV station, to me, If I were TSSAA, I would overturn the referee's report. Clearly, that guy overstepped his authority.
  2. I don't know what was said during the game ? The penalty yardage was something like 225 against Ensworth vs. 20 against BA; When you account that the white hat choose to chase down Bowers & confront him, it makes you wonder whether the crew had a bias vs. Ensworth. The video clearly supports that Bowers was trying to step around the white hat. If the white hat said that Ensworth used profanity, I have to question that when you bring how inappropriately the white hat acted. It won't matter because Bernard has deferred to the Board of Control, which is a Kangaroo Court filled with public school personnel, who may be biased ? If the Board of Control acquiesces to Ensworth, they will look weak to the public sector. This is a BLACK EYE for TENNESSEE FOOTBALL & it makes us look bad compared to all other high school football across the nation. Common sense needs to take over here. What # 9 from BA did was wrong. The BA administration need to punish this player for his actions beyond what The TSSAA calls for. # 9 actions are unacceptable. When the game is over, the correct actions for officials are to run off the field; chasing down a coach & instigating a confrontation is wrong & unacceptable as well. Bowers, Paul Wade, and his son need to be allowed to participate in the finals vs. MUS. It is the right the thing to do. That white hat needs to stick to umpiring baseball; clearly, he has throwing people out of the game down to a science. Too many officials these days think that people pay money to see them throw flags. I am not a private or public school guy, I want what is right to be done. Those Ensworth football players need to have the opportunity to win the finals with all their personnel. It will be a travesty to let the report of a dubious referee dictate potential history for Tennessee high school football. I don't fault Enswoth at all if they decide to go to civil court and embarrass that white hat, the TSSAA, and the Board of Control. DO THE RIGHT THING !
  3. Not having Paul Wade would be like cutting off your foot & trying to run a marathon
  4. As long as Ensworth has Paul Wade, Jonas, and their O-Line, EHS will be OK.
  5. Which Columbia/Tullahoma game last year ? Week 2 or the 2nd round of the playoffs ? Columbia is always vunerable early, but tend to improve as the season wears on. I believe Columbia won by more than 21 in the playoff game
  6. It can be beneficial in some aspect of football: running routes, catching the ball, breaking on the ball, etc... It can hurt as well; Nothing coming at your QB. 30-40% of a QB's throws will be impeded or on the move. You don't get that in 7 on 7.
  7. I agree with that to some degree. Grammar did well with the zone/talent in his day. Link didn't fair so well during the 90's. During that time, privates & magnets raided the zone of good talent. Don't take that as an excuse for Link; but it was a huge factor. In 2001, the zone changed & some good athletes were walking the halls. It didn't matter what the zone was like when Karl Lang was principal. That idiot almost killed the school. Baskins & Phillips didn't have a chance. All those coaches who have had this job know that the talent level is not what your opponents have. I personally liked Bubba & I thought he did a good job with what he had. I will say that Bubba ultimately did less with the best talent Metro has ever had during his first two years as head coach at Stratford. Potentially, those should have been two state championship teams. The only person who has done less with more was Ralph Potter at BA. Wherever the enrollment is; I agree that moving down would help. I only wish the best for the new head coach & the Toppers.
  8. Whoever is chosen as coach, best of luck. Hillwood is a difficult place to achieve consistency. Historically, in a 10 year stretch, you may have the opportunity to win in three of those 10 years. Phil Grammar had a nice run from '87 to '90. Jerry Link has two good years in '03 and '04. That '04 team was the best in school history 12-1 playoff quarterfinalist; tip of the cap to coaches: Link, Moore, Brown, Lewis, and Komisar.
  9. Maybe there are no replies because they all ready know the answer
  10. GWAVE1 Columbia tried to get a game with Gallatin a few years ago, 5A vs. 5A, and GHS didn't want to do it; FYI
  11. Yes, Metro is a circus; that's the 1st thing that you have said that's correct. Evan a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while
  12. "best coach metro has seen" is just an opinion; everyone has one; although, he did win a state championship & beat Maryville in the process which few teams have done. he obviously is a very good coach and has had success at every stop
  13. Memphis & Metro Nashville have a lot in common
  14. Coach Mac rest in peace; Heaven is getting a great one. We will miss you !
  15. 6A metro football teams will (rarely if never) advance in the playoffs past Williamson Co. schools, Rutherford County schools, or Wilson Co. schools. The lower divisions can be sucessful as what P-C did under Fitzgerald and Hillsboro under Aydelott & Blade. The last time a Metro football team won a state championship in the top divison was 1981,AAA/Overton. Nick Saban could not bring 6A football in Nashville back to life. It wouldn't matter who the coach is or what kind of talent has or how well he recruits. i do think there are some good 6A coaches in Nashville: Jay Gore, Woodard, and Terry Anderson. everytime they play a school from those counties above; it's like going into a gun fight with a dull pocket knife.
