Any word from the Part Time-Part Time A.D. at Greenback on this mess. This whole incident reminds me of my younger day's when I had this friend who would go into a bar on the strip in Knoxville and cause a big fight and come running out with 6 or 7 people running after him while we waited down the street a few blocks to pick him up before anyone caught him.

I bet Mathews would have taken a job at Sunbright to get away from Shad.

Better go hire Jeff Miner as their defensive coach before one of these other schools do that are assembling staffs right now if their tenture at GCA will be a positive one. Every one of their games at Campbell County looked like Tarzan on offense but Jane on defense. They did keep Campbell County at a respectable level and I'm sure they had plenty of obstacles in their way doing so. I hated they left because I'm sure their program will go back to the dumpster fire because the leaders there will run to K-Mart for a Blue Light Special because that's how the whole county is ran.

That's what I was thinking.

Sounds like nobody wants their Christmas time off interupted over picking an ole football coach.

Someone mentioned they saw a video of this on another forum, anyone know how to find this or would it be on NFHS by chance.

Both teams are no better than the other. 29-28 will tell you that. Their both getting better and towards the end Heritage played a hand full of freshmen and was actually playing better by seasons end. The only knock on Heritage is how long will the coach stay. The big knock on WB will be replacing a real athlete that played QB-DB and Punter and very good at each position. Just very thankful both teams are out of the dumpster fire zone and stay that way.

A dumpster fire doesn't mean anything wrong with the kids that are playing football for these programs but usually how things are handled by adults that have an effect on these programs that put them in bad positions. A lot of people may have forgotten this but Sunbright had good seasons in the past like 2010 8-3, 2011 7-4, 2012 7-4, 2014 7-5 2017 6-5 and even 2020 the covid year they had a 4-7 record but since they are 2-28. Now all the sudden no one wants to play or even coach there so what has happened.

Brad Taylor at one time would have been my choice but the way he left Karns just before fall practice started leaving them holding the bag speaks volumes. A leopard doesn't change it's spots.

I hope they stay were their at, I would really hate to see that program up there turn into a shambles again like it was before they came there. GCA will find a good coach, they don't need to rush out and go running to the grab table because a handful travelling coaches are available.

This school can be good if it has the right coach. Knox County will go out of it's way to make sure and hire someone that's a travelling man and be gone in two years.

I will be the first to admit, I had them going 1-9 last season especially how that Mo East game went down in 2022. I realize they had a very soft schedule but actually that was a good thing because those kids would never buy in if they were thrown in the cage with the likes of a Bearden and Bradley and a couple more teams. This is one of those situations where enrollment should be thrown out the window because it's harder fielding a football team when some of your kids live far out as Tallahassee and Six Mile. You almost have to throw those numbers away and use common sense which the TSSAA has none at all.

I did until yesterday when someone told me who it possibly is plus who they were bringing as the defensive coordinator. When you hear two names it sounds pretty convincing.

Big shoes to fill at QB and know one that is good and looking for a new home this next season and if he is smart WB would be the perfect home and situation for him and them.

Not looking to bash teams but to get conversation on what has been the problem these schools have had that keep them at the bottom. I took a year and a half off from watching Maryville and went to a lot of the smaller schools to see a family member play a few years ago and had a great time. I would love more than anything to go see a Sunbright or a Lookout Valley game sometime.

Wish more teams in that situation would play 7 man football. Even playing 8th graders is asking for problems.

I realize small schools struggle but Lookout Valley has usually had a decent team then 0-10 then next year 5-5. That is the norm in the smaller schools. Hoping to find out why some of these schools are having troubles.

They fell into the playoffs.

Not enough of them in East Tennessee.

Barney's 6A award goes to Morristown East with Hardin Valley Academy coming in second. Due to the lack of 6A schools in East Tennessee only two teams qualified for this award.

These three all have 1-9 records but the winner is Karns Beavers, followed by Cocke County and a close third Howard High out of Chattanooga.

No doubt on this one Volunteer followed by Seymour and congratulations to Sequoyah for breaking a losing streak going back to 2018 and avoiding their 5th Dumpster Fire Award.
