  1. Typically, teams don't play home & home non-district games. GP plays Lipscomb home & home because it's a rivalry that has been played that way for a ton of years. GP probably scheduled a Cookeville road game to get ready for the weeknight plane flights to RBS & TC coming up. There are some college teams that would dodge playing CPA. Not saying GP would beat CPA, but I think it would be a great game and would be a measuring stick of where the GP team is this year. CPA knows they're the best in the state.
  2. Devil, You continue to amaze me at your lack of knowledge. There's nothing like replying to your uninformed posts. Now for the facts. CPA & Goodpasture played last year. Great game that CPA won. CPA has great talent. The 2 schools had a return game scheduled for this year but the goofy district that GP is in scheduled district games before Christmas for some strange reason. GP was forced to schedule their district game on the same date the CPA game was scheduled. After that, the 2 schools could not find a common open date to play. Even though Goodpasture was sent to district 8A, they have played & will play AAA, AA and large D-II schools. Check the schedule (Cookeville, Lipscomb, Brentwood Academy, Pearl-Cohn, Father Ryan, Pope John Paul, Franklin, etc).
  3. I agree with your top 10. Chip Carillo is a doofus. Do some research Chip. Pearl-Cohn #10??? At least Murphy researches teams before he publishes football polls.
  4. Goodpasture has had several close games but their schedule has been pretty tough so far. I got to see the Lipscomb game this week and the issue with GP is that selfishness has set in. Guards are taking contested shots, showboating layups and missing, and thinking about themselves over the team. Shooting percentages are horrible. When they realize their points will come a lot easier when they shoot good uncontested shots, look out. I've seen them play when they look for the best shot as a group. It's an awesome sight when they have 4 players scoring 15-20 points each. They are capable. They are beatable right now the way they're playing.
  5. GP coach said that TC doesn't have enough players to scrimmage in practice yet. Plus, TC hasn't played a game yet. You don't want to play your 1st game against Goodpasture after they've played 6 or 7. It's better for both teams that the game was moved. It's crazy that district games are scheduled before Christmas anyway. Good luck in FB in Cookeville.
  6. Idiot reply. Goodpasture boys & girls combined margin of victory will be 100+ points. I know you can't count that high but count each finger 10 times each. That's the beatdown TC will get. Your break time is over. Get back to cooking fries.
  7. No recruitment or scholarship. Most of the team has been at Goodpasture since kindergarten and elementary school. Core group of players have been playing together since middle school. Team was 22-6 last season when they were all juniors. They have a good group of talented seniors. Cookeville is very good. It was a great battle when Goodpasture played at Cookeville a few weeks ago.
  8. Saw where the game has been rescheduled to January 9. Goodpasture did not have to reschedule the game since the football game is scheduled for Saturday and basketball is scheduled for Friday. Even though TC has put a lot of hate on GP, GP showed class and moved the game at TC's request.
  9. My take is that Goodpasture has improved since the last meeting. GP played horrific and had no energy the first meeting. On top of that, the coaching game plan was worse. That added up to a beat down at home. My 2nd take is that I believe TC has gotten better as the season has gone on. I don't think TC played their best game in the first meeting. I think the real difference in the 1st game was the TC coaching staff and the players executed the game plan very well. Now the big question is, has GP improved more than TC enough to make up the 21 point difference. I don't think so but I wouldn't count GP out. If either team shows up not ready to play their best, it will result in a loss.
  10. Another FACTLESS DOOFUS QUOTE!!! What else do you have in your bag of ficticious garbage? Stay out of the garbage dump. Your posts stink!
  11. To your point, that's why GP enrollment down over the past years and JP2 is irrelivant in football. Sumner County is keeping their good athletes because they can go to whatever school they want.
  12. Check their roster. Half the players have been at Goodpasture since kindergarten, tough to recruit kindergarteners. The other half have been there since elementary school. They have a couple of players that transferred in during high school that sat out until eligible. They have also had a few good players transfer out. The things that will make GP good this year is that they have been playing together since middle school and they play on various AAU teams during the summer.
  13. Devil, heed your own words. Keep your mouth shut unless you are stating facts...DOOFUS! GP would love to have some of the Sumner County players that are allowed to go to any school they want within the county. That's where recruiting is going on. You have to come up with the monthly check if you want to attend GP.
  14. Observations from the other side of the field. Blackwell was a difference maker. The kid's illusive and has speed. I thought GP did a decent job of containing Harper to a degree, but Blackwell was off the to races all night. It's great to have multi-weapons unlike Goodpasture. It was obvious to me that the TC coaches studied film and had a game plan (especially on defense) to put their players in position to make plays and they did. When you've got smart coaches with a plan and athletes to execute the plan, that usually spells victory. GP's plan was to run one guy into a brick wall all night and surprise, surprise, it didn't work! GP has 5 more games to wake up! Good luck to you guys the rest of the way. When we play again, I'll bring my yacht up to the creek bank and we can all tailgate together.
  15. Saw in the Tennessean that Trousdale is up to #2 in the state. The Friendship beat-down didn't go unnoticed by the pollsters. Looks like all of the score predictions in this thread are good predictions. Wonder if Goodpasture should be scared and not play the game because they may lose? Seems to work for another school.
  16. Devil, You've been bumping your gums a lot today. No way I can insult your intelligence based on your post, there's very little there to talk about. Revcoach has done a good job of posting intelligent replies to these inaccurate posts. Glad you're off your soapbox. Hope it's a good game Friday. What's a pork chop cutter?
  17. Good post. GP has around 50 players on the roster. The actual number of "football" players on the roster is debatable. Several bold predictions in this thread... TC 35-10, Trousdale wins big, TC 14+. They could all be correct. My predictions about the GP football team haven't been very good. Too scared to make a score prediction but I will predict that it won't be a blowout on either side of the scoreboard.
  18. Gum Bumper, stick the facts and stay away from untrue rumors you start. GP doesn't recruit. TC will probably show up with more football players on the roster than GP. The fact is that GP loses good players to other schools who do recruit every year like JPII, MBA, and Sumner schools. Jalen Hurd went to GP in middle school until MBA recruited him away. There are athletes that leave the school every year because the parents can't afford the tuition. GP athletics does not like being moved down in classification nor do they like the district they are in. GP would much rather be in a district with schools that are closer geographically. Give some good insight every once in a while. Even ole Slim has some good insight and analysis. I wish we were as confident in the outcome of the game as the TC fans are. We don't know what to expect from our team and opponents but it sounds like TC does.
  19. Sounds like Gville will have it all together down the stretch. GP should have played Gville early while they were in the learning stages.
  20. Passing game did what it needed to do. Running game was solid. O-Line and D-line played like men. Secondary made key tackles and interceptions. Been waiting on passing game and defense to step up and be consistent and they did last night. Looked like a GP team from several years ago. Anxious to see if GP can put everything together next week. They are going to need it.
  21. I don't see Goodpasture winning out. I've put my prediction in the trash. GP is a Clarksville bad snap away from being 1-3. Clarksville had some very good athletes and were 10 seconds away from winning. GP is better than FRA but FRA played better and should have won by a bigger margin. BGA was just better all around plus 6 GP turnovers equals a blowout loss. Cane Ridge may have been the best opponent GP has played yet but GP put a complete game together and got a blowout win if you take away the CR TD with less than a minute to go against the 2nd string. CR was big, athletic, and lots of speed. GP has played a tough non-district schedule so far. Hopefully the CR game will be an indication of the GP team that will finish out the season. What's your analysis of TC so far? Very impressive beat down of FC last night. Love to hear someone from Gordonsville give an analysis of their season so far too.
  22. Christian Lynn and Trevor Randolph from Goodpasture should be in the conversation.
  23. Wouldn't be surprised if Goodpasture goes 8-2 with losses to BGA & Maplewood.
  24. Partsunknown, Goodpasture fans do not feel this way. The past seasons have been a disaster with leadership from the upper classmen and coaching philosophy. This year's senior class is very athletic and looks to be good leaders on and off the field. Pilgrim's take on Clarksville is about the same way Goodpasture fans feel about the game Thursday. Who will show up??? Scrimmages have shown some promise and some disaster. Don't know if GP can score enough to beat Clarksville and don't know if the defense can stop them. GP Fans are holding their breath going into Game 1 and hoping for a win.
