  1. I think WH was down 2 at one point vs Maplewood, also had a 9 point lead on MLK earlier in the year.
  2. I would half agree that the top 3 teams in that district are VERY strong (Maplewood, Whites Creek, East Literature) but going with MLK, Hume-Fogg, and Pearl Cohn I think can be beaten on any given night. A lot can happen in a game: great shooting versus poor shooting, foul trouble, injuries, etc. so it is just biased and foolish to generally think along the lines that they are just that much better.
  3. I would have to disagree with that statement. We all know basketball is a tournament sport anyways, so records don't even matter when these teams play each other. And while yes they do have the better athletes in the other region, I don't remember athleticism being able to shoot or play a different style of basketball. All you'd really need a zone you can rebound out of and a good shooting night and you could get away with competing with half of that district right now. While I do agree the top three teams are far better than any team in 9AA, to say that NO team couldn't win is a bit extreme. Plus a lot can change between now and January. Looking forward to the season.
  4. haven't posted on here all year because I was just curious as to how everything played out this year and I personally like to keep my mouth shut until I get all the facts. here is the deal, while Cheatham has owned the district for a number of years, to think that their time isn't up would be very foolish and biased in my opinion. I have followed the WH program to an extent and I know that their JV didn't have very many close games this season (especially CC game which they won by about 35). With that being said it is hard to think that them playing youth this whole season and finishing .500 won't pay dividens for them in the future. I am pretty sure they played 3 jr's maybe 3 sophomores and 3 freshmen after christmas quite a bit. As for the Ward kid, he is indeed special finished avg around 8 pts a game as a freshman, but as mentioned the real talent is supposedly coming back next year in the kid from SC. to think that he won't be able to contribute immediately is also crazy becasue if a kid can score the ball, it really doesn't matter the system and WH ran a ton of free lance stuff last part of the year. Now I will admit that we won't truly see his potential until they are all JR's, but the future is promising for that class. Also agree with the other freshman, #3 maybe? handles himself well and can really really shoot it. In closing, I think that yes this year Cheatham was the only team able to compete with the other district, but they also have the "EXPERIENCE" of being in those games before. Hard not to think that with the "EXPERIENCE" WH got this year that they won't be in the same boat for the next couple of years.
  5. sounds like cheatham must be the REAL deal. im assuming since they are winning so easily that they try to press and pressure and force the other teams to get out of their game. but as an old wise man once said teams that like press and pressure dont like to be pressed and pressured. will be interesting to see how they will fair up against the other side of region and trying to play same game style.
  6. obviously not gonna trhow him to the fire in his first year. but think that he is going to slowly change the program around. as for the ms ive heard they are pretty good saw them play a heck of a Bwling Green team this summer and handle business. dont know names or faces but they had two pretty decent kids out there. easily best ms team ive seen. how are they doing this season. future looks bright for the program
  7. still haven't been able to make a Wh game yet, but having seen their past play im sure they fell in love with the three ball early and it ends up costing them late. hats off to Heritage for the big win
  8. WH loses in OT to an imporved Gallatin team, had 3 key players foul out before the game was over. naturally they had no football players which will greatly hinder this team until they get into full swing but defensively just didn't have the drive to get a stop and quality shot. just like last year they rely too much on the 3 and don't look to get to the FT line. will need to find an answer on defense besides running zone ALL the time, but expecting a much better season from them than last year.
  9. valid points indeed, but coming from personal experience the speed of the game will take heritage time to adjust too. and not to take anything away from heritages great season last year. that was LAST year. chemistry is different, speed is different. like ive said earlier anyone has the potential to beat in anyone in this district. if heritage can take care of the little things like conscious rebounding and taking care of the ball they will certainly make waves in the district. my biggest concern for them is depth, who is going to step up if Bailey or Sizemore get hurt and or in foul trouble? 70% percent of games are won by bench production and I just don't see that being something heritage has a lot of, especially with them being so young. best of luck to them will definitely be in attendance for some of their early games and looking forward to December best wisshes
  10. PLAYERS are made during the summer, teams are made in the preseason and in games leading up to district play. while im sure Heritage's summer schedule was just as intense as there current regualar season schedule, sadly playing weak teams sets the tone and the competition level for kids at this age. when they get to district play they will get shocked and then start questioning coaching and each other instead of getting beat as a team and learning to over come adversity. the only advantage Heriatge has over WH is the fact that their football players will return a lot sooner than WH's. while im still gonna cheer on the patriots throughout the season, its unrealistic to think that playing weaker competition will improve your competitive edge during the districts. and if you remember, WH played big at the end of the season when IT ACTUALLY matters and earned a region appearance where they lost to the state champion. come cleg
  11. sadly the only team on the schedule with any post season quality is Cheatham County
  12. haha I would say that IS biased. while bailey is a good PG, he is not the scoring type of guard more of a floor general. and as far as best all around big man in district, I would have to give that to the big guy from GB. I think the thing that everyone seems to forget is the game plan each team has for each other, while Cheatam is easily the best, anyone will be able to beat anyone on any given night. while I like heritage and the things they do, the speed coming up districts will give them a ton of trouble and with no other real production you cant think they have a winning chance with 3 players. basketball is a team effort. whichever team takes care of the ball and wins the rebounding battle will come out on top. WH has a bunch of good shooters and youngsers coming up through the program quickly, looking for some real good things in the future with a strong sophomore class coming up. will be interesting but Cheatam is still the favorite
  13. its really hard to be able to tell with the season just starting up, but I think that the district will be more evenly matched than anticipated with the exception of Cheatam Co. they are also my favorite for the district. Sycamore as far as I can remember always has a good program but after those two I think it is wide open. WH did upset GB last year in the district tourney by locking up their ! player that they have. GB is too one dementional. Heritage will struggle, especially if one of their key players gets into foul trouble (Sizemore) and they're big guy doesn't produce in every game. WH has a chance to sneak into 4th if they continue to improve and if Lyon's takes over like he is capable of (the kid has been a varsity player for 4 years) and theyre shooters come to play each game.
  14. come on have some faith in the boys. overall solid game from both teams. WH just made some adjustments at halftime and some plays. I called it earlier but #15 for WH is the athlete/playmaker they were missing from having a great team. Hats off to Westmoreland on a solid performance will definitely make the playoffs if they continue to play this well.
  15. ok ok lets be realistic for bit. Westy is a solid team and they have a chance? lets look back at their first game 7-0 win against Portland >_>... WH spanked P-town in their opener 28-0 maybe? no matter I think WH is just too fast and strong on defense and their offense scores enough to make it a three score game. the x factor however in this one is WH kicking game. I expect at least 3 FG attempts by them. While Westmoreland is decent and has dramatically improved over the years, the facts are that WH is a tradition filled program and they will bring it for the title. 24-10 WH
  16. Realistically, I haven't seen Heritage play at all this season but I have seen the Devils play all but one game and I have to admit, while WH can't throw for anything their defense has kept them in games all season. I'm not sure how good Heritage's passing game is, but they will have to have a record day in order to get a W against good ole WH. 31-7 WH over Heritage.
  17. As I've said before WH has to get better on the offensive side of the ball if they want to take their game to the next level. While their defense has proven good the past two weeks it won't bail them out this week if the offense continues to put up such low numbers. Haven't seen LA play but have heard their offense is decent and they are playing at home, WH will need an A+ performance. I like WH over LA in a tight one 27-21
  18. WH is gonna have to open up its offense a bit more if they wanna come away with a win this week against a big Greenbriar team. While Felts and the others did a good job against Portland they will need something else to put points on the board. also their defense will have to be just as good as they were Friday, and also tough in the red zone. overall I thkn this will be a great game but I see WH over Greenbrier 24-14.
  19. I don't know how much football you watch but Portland isn't talented enough to 'spank' anybody if they are capable of losing to Westmoreland 7-0 #embarassing
  20. I have heard that WH has gotten a new player who is a pretty great athlete, Lyons I think is his name #15. With that being said he may very well be the one missing piece that can take this defense and offense to another level. Also shocked to hear such a disappointing loss from Portland last week and makes me think that defensively they are just no good with that being said I like WH 24-14 over the Panthers
  21. after what I have seen and heard throughout the league it seems WH is up for andother Region title in this one, Heritages biggest crossroad will be the speed and adjustment coming up from up A to AA. not to say the Heriatge might not be in the running in a few years but its just unrealistic to think that they can be competitive in their first yaer
