  1. What type of kicker does Blackman have? Does he have the ability to get touchbacks on a consistent basis? I know nothing about his skill level whatsoever. Any idea on percentage of successful onside kicks this year? I would think well below 50%.
  2. If I were a coach with a defense like Blackman's, I wouldn't want to give a short field to a team like Oakland. Pats have already shown that they can score fast and often. Averaging 50 points a game with two high quality teams played and beat in Ravenwood and their MS State commit qb and one of the top tier programs in MS, Madison Ridgeland. Blaze has only played one quality opponent at this point and lost to them. Oakland has a lot more athletes than any team you guys have faced this year. I will admit that the Oakland defense is not at the level that I am accustomed to the last 7-8 years but they will still have a much better defense than anything the Blaze has encountered this year with possibly the exception of the Brentwood team. My best guess is that it will be a very high scoring game with Oakland coming out on top. Should be a fun one to watch.
  3. Pretty sure the Blaze are basically having a scrimmage this week with Antioch. I reckon they gonna be working on those onside kicks some more? I find it hard to believe they would do that very much when they meet Oakland the following week. The Blaze offense is very solid. Defense? Not so much.
  4. He did transfer from a Franklin county school I believe after middle school but was born and raised and still lives in MC. His father was coaching over there but isn't any longer so he basically transferred back to his home school and program. Not ready to be a starter over the current qb but he is a really good athlete that puts in the work and will be the starter. Not this year unless there is an injury I wouldn't think but the kid has good potential based on what I've seen out of him.
  5. A freshman with a pretty good upside. Very solid athlete that lives and breathes sports.
  6. Very true. It is fun to look at when "your" team is on them though.
  7. Possible politics going on or just a old sentimental ball coach that thinks by being a senior that gives you some kinda privelege? Either way, if true then that explains why SC varsity is such a bad team.
  8. Last night I watched the Oakland vs Stewarts Creek JV game. The SC qb looked to have a decent arm. I don't know what year he is but I saw him make some pretty nice throws. Not many decent catches but good throws. Maybe hope for the future?
  9. Agreed. How the heck? Collierville ain't got no business being that high. Top 10? Ok. Top 5? No way. #2? Someones smoking some crack.
  10. Blaze by as much as they want. Running clock second half.
  11. Lol.....In my book you qualify!! Ref probably saw it but admired ya grit and let it go.
  12. Was a two way starter. Junior year wide out and strong safety. Senior year wingback and ss. Returned punts. All conference Senior year. 40 years ago lol. Got nothing to do with my statement earlier and means nothing other than I like football. And for last 7 years a volunteer for the team a mile from my house on Friday nights. I watch their freshman and jv teams play on occasion as well. So am I worthy to comment my opinions on TN high school football. My resume ok enough for you. lol
  13. As of now, I'm confident. Subject to change at any time. Doesn't really matter though seeing how I don't play or coach. If you Murvil faithful haven't noticed a slow but steady decline in your program since the coaching change then you should. It's happening. I'm sure I have a history lesson coming.
  14. An extremely long one. 12-2 absolute best they will get
  15. Stewart's Creek should be very easy for Blackman. I'm trying to remember and not entirely sure but Stewart's Creek did have one player I was really impressed by. #8 I think it was. He was dangerous with the ball in his hand. Elusive and good speed. The blaze will put up some points against Oakland when the time come but the Oakland offense has the ability to score often and early. Pats qb is big and very hard to bring down.
  16. Yes, I forgot about the Kentucky DB transfer. He certainly flashed some speed in the MRA game with a few big returns and a interception. Wasn't pointing fingers at you making those claims but have heard it in town for sure.
  17. I think this year the Oakland team has very few transfers. I know the QB is a transfer from Riverdale from a few years ago. I SPECULATE that he transferred because he was stuck behind the OC's kid and wasn't going to see any significant time. Oakland got the better qb in my opinion. There is a sophmore that is a transfer from Brentwood Academy I believe. He is a running back. I've seen him in a JV game and he looked impressive. More of a run you over type back than a finesse back. He also got some action in the game last week against Stewart's Creek when things were well in hand. I'm sure there are some I don't know about and if there is someone let me know. It seems to me that this year Blackman has all the shiny new toys. They keep sayin' "just wait till so and so gets goin" "he/they gonna be unstoppable". The vast majority of Oakland players are good ol' homegrown Boro kids that have been playing Creasy ball since they were in middle school and probably younger.
  18. I really know so very little about Ravenwood so I am wondering how this game is going to play out. I know Ravenwood has a MS State commit at QB and so Oakland will have to contend with that but does Ravenwood have the team to grind out a win or will this be a typical Oakland playing another good but not great team? Curious on ya'lls thoughts.
  19. Doubtful I would think. There's a huge gap between the good and great teams out there. I don't doubt that Lebanon is good but are they great? Not until they beat a great team. I'm talking about the LA's, CPA, Maryville or maybe one of those big out of state power houses. I'm not ready to claim Oakland is great this year but signs are certainly pointing that way after watching them against a very talented MS team last week. Unfortunately nothing will be learned about Oakland this week other than how the next year or two will be as they take on Stewart's Creek. Lots of underclassmen will get some significant playing time. I know that the freshman team is pretty dang good. I left their game Monday night against Lavergne (I believe it was) before halftime as it was already 40 something to 0.
  20. QB Cade Hewitt for Oakland really took charge in the second half with his legs. This young man has been impressive and has shown a ton of toughness carring the ball since about the last half of last season. He doesn't shy away from contact whatsoever. Same cannot be said for the MRA QB. He looked like he was constantly looking for a place to slide himself down. The Oakland defense was fast and aggresive as always but they did give up 33 to a VERY talented MRA team. I would assume coaches will be working on some tackling drills this week as well as defensive secondary assignments. Saw lots of attempted arm tackling and what appeared to be blown coverages in the secondary. That being said, Oakland looked pretty darn good. I think they will be exceptionally hard to beat. I know CPA is on the schedule and I'm sure that will be a real challenge and then there is always Riverdale and Blackman to contend with this year. Time will tell but I think both those region teams are good. Not great but good. It's gonna take better than good to get past Oakland.
  21. My assumption is that it will be a very different game. Much closer? MRA has a little familiarity with Oakland now so I would think they would have a better idea of what they want to do this year. That being said, the same goes for Oakland. The graduation of James and Patterson definitely affects the running game of Oakland but I saw some good things out of the running game last week against Hendersonville so they may not be at last years level but they will be good. I thought the Oakland defense looked pretty nasty last week. Guys flying all over the place and laying the wood. I think this one has the potential to go either way but think Oakland gets out with a win and those poor boys from the Sip will have a long bus ride home. I'll be there, we'll see.
  22. Well, so far not so much. People can play all the woulda, coulda, shoudas they want. Means absolutely nothing. At this point they are winless. Are they gonna be able to handle a very speedy, hard hitting defense like Oaklands? Is the Blackman defense made of all stars too? Their passing game may be pretty and flashy but how are they once they get punched in the mouth a few times. It's a little early to crown them the new champs. Blackman needs to worry about winning a game.
  23. Lol.....Sparky.....You like to use that one when you can't come up with anything. Sorry, I'll quit picking on you little feller. We'll find something later to argue about. I'll be here all season. Rootin' on the Patriots.
  24. Lol.....I ain't the one talking about mens bathrooms. Seriously, that was the best you could come up with. Very disappointing A-shart. Try again.
  25. Sounds to me like you're spending way too much time in the men's bathroom.
