  1. We've never had turf, our field is bermuda. The last 2 years the field has been dyed purple for the playoffs. This year we haven't had a frost so they're leaving the grass green. Since 3 games are the most we could possibly play here, if it needs a touchup it will be green. We'll play the same with either color.
  2. uc don't forget we had 2 touchdowns called back and another 65 yard run that was fumbled out of bounds at the 5yard line and was awarded to Trenton. If you look at everything we actually beat them worse than last year.
  3. Trenton ad UC in the regular season may be fun to watch, but the real game will be when they meet in the playoffs.
  4. From a UC fan. Don't know if he's SEC material or not, but I've see him play against us in 3 different sports. He may be the best all around athlete in northwest Tn.
  5. To add to what Swo just said, UC doesn't gain kids from the county, we lose kids to the county. Obion County runs buses all over UC. The state ruled that county buses can run in the city but UC can't run buses in the county. I don't see how UC can be benefitting from open enrollment when 7 or 8 students leave for every 1 that comes in. Maybe some of you smart guys can explain that to us.
  6. You won't have to bring it back, it will already be here.
  7. You won't have to go west no matter which team comes out of the west. This year the semi-final will be in Nashville.
  8. Coach Woods sent a scout to watch UC's spring practice. When he got the report back he resigned.
  9. Several years ago the county school system built 2 grade schools just outside UC's city limits. They pulled a lot of students out of UC schools. It happened because UC has a sizable black population. Our enrollment dropped to 250 students at one time. Now after years have passed a lot of the white kids are starting to come back. Their parents have discovered that a good education is more important than the racial makeup of the school. The numbers are coming up and I'm sure we will soon be 2a in football but I doubt we'll ever be large enough to go 2a in basketball.
  10. The last time we were in the state tournament we were down 17 points in the 4th quarter of the championship game to Memphis Manassas who was led by Reginald Buckner that later played at Ole Miss. We won that game. We may get beat by someone but we'll never give up.
  11. With their point guard who is their best player not playing.
  12. Didn't Ripley play UC earlier this year? How did they do and how many points did Culbreath have against UC?
  13. JaVonte Moffatt committed to MTSU today. 6'0", 180#, 4.4 laser timed 40, averaged 16.7 yards per carry and is better on defense than offense. The Blue Raiders may have gotten the steal of the year.
  14. In the UC paper today, Coach Sisco was quoted as saying "To be the man you have to beat the man. Last year Mitchell beat us and then went on to win the gold ball. I think they're still the man until someone beats them."
  15. I agree. Earlier this year I saw a recruiting service that had him listed as a top 10 player in the state next year. Hard to believe he wasn't 1a all state this year.
  16. We keep telling everyone that our school is not as large as most people think. Four years ago we were at 260 students with only 47 seniors. We've had good teams because we've had some exceptional kids and also I wouldn't trade our coaches in boys bb, girls bb, or football with anyone. Our enrollment is growing and when it gets high enough we'll go to 2a in football but I don't see us ever growing enough to go 2a in bb.
  17. At the skilled positions I'm most worried about replacing Henry at fullback. He carried the ball 25 to 35 times a game. Since we started every play by either giving him the ball or faking it to him, he got hit on every play. He played lb on defense and was on all kicking teams both punt and kickoff. Played the last 13 games without missing any time for injury. Probably the toughest kid I've ever seen play.
  18. I also agree. Last year UC went 37-0. Our toughest game before the championship was our sub-state game against MIddleton on our court. If most of those girls came back this year then I would definitely give them my vote.
  19. A few 8th graders, a couple of kids that dropped out when they saw what was required of them but now have reconsidered, and 1 transfer who has been living in another state with a divorced parent that is moving back. Most new kids coming into our program are in for a rude awakening. We haven't been good because of big numbers but because of the dedication of the ones that are there. The biggest difference between the 2014 team and the 2015 team will be the size of the line. Average size of the line will drop from about 270 to about 240. Skill people won't drop very much. Coach Bowling has told his players that no one is going to fell sorry for them for the players that are leaving so work hard and get ready to keep the winning streak going.
  20. I didn't see him on the team last night. He had a great season in football and may be putting everything into that for next year.
