  1. Nothing interesting at all here IMO. Score will be whatever FCS wants it to be but I am guessing a 28-7 final. Once JM gets the lead he is just gonna sit on it and run the clock. GCS appears to be much improved over last season but I do not see that adding up to many, if any, additional wins over the 1 they got last year.
  2. I’m going to focus only what he has as a head coach. I think some of us could’ve called plays for those Ensworth teams and still would’ve won gold balls. JM Has three gold balls as a head coach as well and I would argue that all three of his came in tougher divisions and against better competition.
  3. I think GCS could be much improved over last year and still win only 1-3 games. Not sure what the expectations are over there this year. Giving the coach a Gatorade shower after defeating a DIIA opponent is not a good look at all though and may give us some insight as to their expectations. DCA is just awful this year so you cannot get any type of evaluation based on that win. I am sure DCA will be just fine with Coach Wade but it will take some time if I had to guess. Wade has some work to do to unseat JM at FCS to be considered top dog in this division IMO as far as coaches go. I do not see GCS beating LA, FRA or DA (even though I consider these close to 50/50 games) and CPA & BGA will have their way with them. Not throwing shade at all here but you guys gotta stop referencing MS football teams. Who cares what a bunch of 12 year olds do on Thursdays? This does not translate into future success for them or their respective programs. I can't count the # of kids I have seen dominate 7/8 grade sports only to never grow another inch and have zero impact once they reach varsity level sports. Should be a fun year in DII football. Lot's to poke fun at, cheer for and evaluate. DII-A is FCS #1, DA #2 then the rest. DII-AA is CPA way out front and BGA a very distant 2nd place.
  4. I agree on Noah. No way he shouldn't be on here.
  5. These lists and All State/Region teams are a joke. How does a 1-10 team like Goodpasture have 8 players on here? Elders as an All State choice????? Wow! LA with 6 selections? GCS and LA were awful yet have 14 All Region selections. TSSAA is a disaster. DIIA West had a total of 70 kids recognized as 1st, 2nd or Honorable Mention. The quantity of selections is mind boggling and takes away from the actual kids who deserve the nod. DIIA was so top heavy with NCS, DA, FCS & DCA as your top tier teams its hard for me to comprehend how so many kids made All region.

    NCS @ FC

Congrats on a huge win. I thought DCA played extremely well and came ready to play. Good luck next weekend in Cookeville.

Well said. This DIIA group is abysmal and an absolute joke. Myers or Hewitt could have gone for 3000+ if coaches had let them. Hard to keep running a back when you are up 35 in Q1 just about every week.

This is flawed logic. Thought the RB from TKA was injured and did not play v FCS? Hylick had 173 yards and 9.3 YPC v FCS. I know he broke a long one late but still good #'s. That's not shutting them down. As far as DA v DCA goes, DA should be just fine even if they don't put a complete game together. DCA gave up 31 to FA last week and that is a team DA had down 50-0 at the half. I also don't think DCA has seen an O capable of what DA is capable of. DA is still my pick to win it all based on the O. D is definitely lacking but they have the ability to outscore anyone with the passing/running game combo. FCS over NCS 27-21 DA over DCA 42-28
  9. Fair enough. I believe you that he is safe for now but it is certainly not silly for people not in the know to be asking these questions. And if Ensworth has another crap year next year, I do think he will be in significant trouble.
  10. I'm sure the board and admin shoot you updates of what is expected and what is not. Thanks for keeping us all straight. Stupid of me to think a guy making $600k is sitting fine getting put out in rounds 1 & 2 of the playoffs. Lol
  11. Nothing silly about this. I am well aware of what the Bowers family is going through right now. Let's talk about the last few years though. You simply cannot pay a coach what Bowers is making and be content with 1st and 2nd round playoff exits. For that $$$$, state championships are expected, and rightly so.
  12. Doubtful Webb keeps this one close. CPA should roll. 42-14.
  13. I agree on DA's D. They don't tackle well at all. Definitely a bend but don't break approach. If MJCA can contain the DA O, they have a chance to keep this close. I just don't think they will be able to do that. Hoping FCS and NCS both take care of business this week to ensure that match-up next week. Definitely the 2nd best match-up we will see these playoffs behind the state championship game.
  14. Playoffs start this week. Some decent match-ups on tap. FCS vs MTCS - FCS rolls here. A mere tuneup for their showdown next week. NCS vs TKA - This is the most compelling match-up of the week. TKA has a moderately successful passing game and their RB is back and healthy. TKA has also been good against the run and their line is physical. That being said, they have not faced a back of Myers caliber thus far. I say NCS wins in a game that will be closer than many think. DA vs MJCA - DA is the pick here. Hylick will have some success but I just don't see MJCA slowing the DA offense enough to stay in this one till the end. DA pulls away in 2nd half to win by 2-3 scores. DCA vs Fayette Academy - DCA by 14.
  15. I don't think they are at all physical like NCS & FCS but they have won each of their last games against those teams. Both on the road as well. The DA offense is pretty special for DIIA football and will be hard to defend by anyone in the playoffs. That's my point. DA does not tackle well but it appears their bend but don't break philosophy of defense works. I'm sure they are thinking the O can do whatever is needed. Will that catch up with them? Possibly. I am looking forward to the NCS/FCS matchup as well as that winner vs DA if that's what happens. Should be some fun games to watch once this week is over.
  16. I've only seen DCA one time this year but they are definitely in that second group to me. They would have to have a lot of help from DA and play extremely well to win.
  17. I did catch that DA/NCS game but we probably saw it differently. I saw a DA team that tackled poorly and I have to think that will be somewhat corrected in a rematch. I also saw a QB for DA that missed a few throws and that doesn't happen very often. DA did what they needed to do and if Hewitt had not had his lone fumble of the season late Q4 that game is a 2 score DA victory at NCS. Myers is a freak and will be a load for anyone to handle for sure. NCS was lucky to be in that one at the end. I agree somewhat on the coaching also. Brothers made some horrible calls.
  18. I am a big fan of high school sports (most notably football and basketball) in Middle TN. I went to high school here and have followed a number of teams closely since I graduated. I have friends with kids at a number of small, private schools in the area so I tend to follow DIIA & DIIAA a little more closely than DI. I have no rooting interest and try to make it out to see as many teams as I can during the course of a season. I love to go watch the kids getting lots of hype too to see what they are all about. I try to call it like I see it with no bias.

  19. I agree on all 1's & 2's making semis but I have DA beating NCS in championship game. That NCS/FCS game is gonna be a fun one. FCS's fantastic front vs NCS's great RB. I think whichever team makes it out of that game will have a tough time slowing the DA offense enough to win though.
  20. I have no issue with him being mentioned at all. He is a great player.
  21. Just out of curiosity, have you seen any of these kids play who do not play FCS??? Hewitt? Myers? Norton? It doesn't sound like it to me so I'm not sure you can really speak on his behalf and compare him to anyone other than Hylick. If you have not seen these others, how can you possibly say Speedy can do things other backs can't? I have seen him and he is really special. He would be solidly in my top 3 had he not missed games due to injury. The fact he did not play much O vs TKA hurts him as well as the bulk of the carries that night went to another back. He is just as good as Hewitt and Myers IMO but the stats don't place him among the elite for the Mr Football award. If I were voting for this award he would finish 2nd on his own team behind Smith.
  22. Hylick did his part last night BTW. 200+ yards.
  23. I am referring to who it "should" go to and he is not sniffing my top 5. No way you can justify him receiving even 1 vote.
  24. Lawless? Come on man. Kid gonna be a great college player and is a huge name but play on the field should be what gets guys mentioned here. Hewitt and Meyers. Smith and Norton would be next 2 for me. Lawless not even in top 2 on own team. Watson has more imoact than him IMO.
