  1. Heritage's identity has been one of the worst teams in the state for years, so im fine with them losing that identity. It really doesn't matter what an old coach or an alumni thinks, especially if they're not doing anything to contribute to the program now. New uniforms and helmets are what kids like today. They've seen it at almost every college team. Heritage doesn't have 30 state rings to get kids out like other schools. They have to do something different to get kids out, and this is part of it.
  2. I think you made a great point with your pictures but I'm not sure cause they're in black and white?
  3. First, the helmets look good, and I'm sure the kids - who will actually wear them - will love them. Second, the red and baby blue scheme looks terrible, which is no one wears it. The blue jerseys from a few years ago and the mid 80's are awful. Third, didn't Hammontree change the uniforms and helmets when he was at maryville? Didn't he bring the all black uniforms and helmets.
  4. As far as I know the same as last season. Red and white jerseys with gray pants.
  5. Thanks for the info. I hadn't heard much about central so I just thought it was strange them being on TV two years in a row.
  6. Who's kid plays for central? They've been on the past two years. Have they made the playoffs anytime recently?
  7. It was bad. But they did lose their top 4 receivers from last years team. And the QB and some of the new receivers missed at least some of spring because of baseball and other sports. But by the time season rolls around they'll have their feel and timing down.
  8. South Doyle West Heritage/ Gibbs Powell Halls Heritage makes the playoffs for the first time in 15? Years.
  9. Heritage and gp scrimmaged in a full game like situation. 4 quarters and everything, just no kicking game. Heritage won 48-30. Heritage had 4 one play scoring drives and saw 4 different running backs find the endzone. Def forced a couple of turnovers and were hitting harder than last year.
  10. Probably the only game they could get. But they're suppose to play oak ridge in the fall.
  11. I know from talking with my nephew that he loves playing for Hammontree. He says he's tough on them but he has a really good rapport with not just the football players but a lot of kids in the school. My brother just gave me the impression that Hammontree didn't like having parents around during practice. I won't be around for the scrimmage next week but I'll get in game updates
  12. Heritage has some good numbers out this year with alittle more size. They're suppose to scrimmage Seymour within the next week. I've heard Hammontree isn't to parent friendly and keeps them at a distance. Some of the older maryville fans and players may know more than me on that topic though.
  13. Modern day spread offenses trace their roots back to those old school offenses you mentioned, they just dress them up and put the QB in the gun. A common misconception is that the shotgun offense can't be a smash mouth style of offense. Anyone who has watched auburn or Ohio state over the past few seasons wouldn't call their offenses soft.
  14. Yeah playing for Kentucky really hurt him! If he had gone to a better school he could be playing for the packers now.
  15. I think they had a kicker go D 1 9 or 10 years ago. Can't remember the name.
  16. I think what he means is WB is not as "diverse" as Blackman
  17. In all honesty, and I'm not trying to put WB down in anyway, what coach would be interested in the job. WB has to play an even tougher schedule this year with the addition of science hill, DB, and alcoa with more travel time and expense. Ridge said in the paper that the new coach would inherit the old staff, so there's no chance to bring in additional coaches. His new boss would be the previous head coach, which could potentially cause some issues. And I saw on the Blount county website that the only teaching job they have in the building is a special Ed job. Every football coach I ever had was a PE coach. Special Ed is an extremely time consuming position and requires ten times the work of a normal teacher.
  18. 91 I think we actually agree. Heritage only needs to win two district games to make the playoffs, and they play in an easier district this year.
  19. Hey if your mom and dad were first cousins you'd be angry too!
  20. No I was the fat guy wearing red. I think they plan on changing the colors to camouflage and changing their nickname to the moonshiners
  21. Yes I do. Thanks for the proof read.
  22. Well I guess I'm giving myself away. I do feel bad now though. Because after thinking about you don't look so much like shrek but more like a person born with fedal alcohol syndrome. So I apologize. I know you can't help it.
