How bad would it suck to be 8-2 or 9-1 and have to go to Marion Co. 1st round? That is the question...

He was kicked out for threatening at teacher and administrator with violence a couple weeks ago in class, after he had been arrested this past spring for bound and gagging a elder woman and robbing her at gunpoint in her home. Which before that was found to have burglarized a car in Scottsboro from which the gun came from to rob the lady. Which before that he was found in Arkansas as a runaway. Again, its all over the news along with the mug shots. Just use your GOOGLE. But lets give him a "2nd Chance". As long as he is with your kids and your teachers, not mine.

I think Marion pulls away in this one by halftime, Mercy rule in effect in 4th unless the young ones give up some scores like last year. #40 is a very good player, have heard several times he has been getting a lot of small college love all summer, he will be able to play on Saturday's. 3 year starter at linebacker, finally getting his shot at fullback too, expect him to lead the team in touchdowns and yards this year. Him and Kirkendoll are as good of a LB due as one could ask for.

I'm never to far away, just waiting for season to post much. Pirates and Warriors should have great season this year with both with legitimate shot at playing in December. I expect both to be better than last years teams but you never know with injuries and how the pigskin will bounce, but both return a lot of guys who have played a lot of football. Can't and won't speak for pirates but have heard good things, but our guys have been very impressive all off season and fall camp. Very good group of kids coming through right now especially the Senior's, they are workers. Our first group looks very explosive so far. Tonight we will see if it holds water.

Looking forward to another good SV Jamboree to kick of the season. Looking forward to seeing all the teams, including our team with a new QB and how he handles his first game action against Whitwell and how well our JV does versus Bledsoe's JV. Middle school done very well last night with lots of athletes on the field, as many as i have seen in a while at JMS. If that group stays together through high school, they could be really good. yes both Qb's are seniors but have a junior that has been taking second string snaps at practice all year and has gotten a lot of reps in the games this year that the coaches are excited about. He will be a dual threat type player. The also have a freshman that is moving to QB as well that looks like he could be good too. Starter wise , we will lose one offensive lineman, middle linebacker, QB, one WR, kicker, and starting fullback/DB (Henderson). So we lose 4 on offense, 2 on defense.

Not sure I understand or agree the no fans thing. We generally have as many fans or more as the home team when we travel. I have been to Forrest twice this year and wouldn't be surprised if we have more than Forrest there. We travel better than any team we have played this year. We have always traveled well.. We have had 5 rain games with 4 having extended delays that will keep people from coming but that is expected. I would expect the stands to be fairly full at Forrest.

it is possible. Tyner played both Boyd and Marion very tough. Tyner's best player got hurt in the third quarter and Boyd took over as I understood. It was 14-7 when the kid got hurt. Tyner is not a great team, but I would consider them a dangerous team. Austin East in Region 2 is the same way. They will probably finish third because of Grace and Rockwood being very good but no one is going to excited to play them.

I doubt anyone whips Forrest either I agree. But I do believe Forrest gets the toughest of 4th seeds. i say Forrest wins it. just a tougher game than the other 1 vs 4 games

Lol I understand but do realize this region has been talked up since August by media not by "fans". It is a deep region compared to most. It may not have the best team in the state but it is deep. Last year our region was terrible. Next year tyner will be down with the loss of over 25 seniors. Meigs has over 80 kids dressing with probably the best size in the group and only starts one kid both ways. Tyner is an inner city school with a head coach that has played and won a state title. They are well coached, fast, big and senior laden. They will be tough for whom ever they may play. Marion is dressing over 70 kids and they score a lot of points and they play very fast. They can move across the whole team. Boyd has one of the best defensive teams I have seen in a few years from anyone. IMO, I will say this though, Watertown would be fighting for 4th in Region 3 this year. And that's a maybe. Not knocking Watertown and there team, it's just an observation. Meigs has much better size and better speed than Watertown. They have a coach that has historically been very good too,very disciplined. They struggled at times this year because of so many graduating off last years team. I honestly believe Forrest has the hardest first two rounds for a number one seed and that could be a bit unfortunate for them. I believe they are a good team and can go far they just might get a terrible bracket.

Having seen Tyner in person and Watertown in person, Tyner would be highly favored in my opinion. Tyler is big, fast and as physical as any team as i have seen in person. I have been to 13 games this year so far and the best player for any team i have seen including Boyd, Forrest and Marion, is Tyner's TB/LB #1. He is really really good. #5 won't drag him anywhere. Watertown is way slower than the Tyner. Way slower. How is Westmoreland? I know they supposedly had a really good tailback (Dodd?) Who is favored, Westy or Watertown?

Why was the Grundy Co. game so close? That score has me a little perplexed on Watertown's team. Grundy has been terrible this year. Marion had them 41-0 in the first quarter and Watertown barley wins.

If Tyner wins over Brainerd as expected, then the winner of the Bledsoe vs Meigs will decide fourth place. Most around here expect Meigs Co. to win. Per Media page today; Region 3 has 3 teams in. If Tyner losses to Brainerd, they would still hold the third seed by having the 3 way tie breaker with total wins. Brainerd would still be out after losing to Bledsoe County last week. Brainerd only get in with a win over Tyner and a Bledsoe County loss.

You can't beat them if you don't play them and I hope Marion gets a shot at them, and Boyd wants there shot too, buts thats the leader of the pack in 2a. They look big and fast. I believe its Boyd's to lose in the east. Heck of a team.

Finally its Game Day! I love these type of games and they don't happen very often in the regular season. Both teams get a chance to play in a game that they will remember along time, a #1 vs #2 match up, and for the kids, thats gotta be pretty cool. Hope both teams play injury free and play their hardest. Both schools i believe are blessed with good head coaches and are of high character. Breakdown and Prediction: Both teams defenses can be nasty and can shutdown there opponents. Marion's offense, IMO, is more explosive and very hard to prepare for in a week because of there pace of play. If Boyd can keep the ball from Marion, its in there favor. But Marion's defense has been very good too and keeping the ball is easier said than done. I believe this will be a very hard fought game but I think Marion's pace and explosiveness creates some issues late in the game to pull away. Turnovers, penalties and special teams can always change the game though. Marion 35 Boyd 14
