I just looked at the all district players from last year and it looks like to me this district should be much closer than it is. Tullahoma has 3 all district players ( Duncan mvp, KK and Bowman, Lincoln co has 2, Hall and Richardson, Franklin Co has 2 and Coffee has 2. Seems like It should be a much closer race or Florida was in charge of counting the votes lol

That's pretty much how I heard it too. Wasn't at the game last night, but was told Martin wasn't his usual animated self. I hated to hear this. He brings so much fire to that sideline and to those boys, and in a positive way. Is dekalbs school board appointed or elected?

Iceman, you are correct. Fish is definitely not a Cope, not even in the same league. Oh well Cope is gone, Fish has the reigns and I wish them all the best. Now on to WC.. they are absolutely pitiful. They have talent and pure shooters, a 6'3 and 6'0 and that are not utilized at all. Panter is not a coach, not at the high school level anyway. It's been told she was a great player, I don't know, she didn't play at warren county. But just because you can play the game doesn't mean you can coach it. There is a big difference between the two. But just like Dekalb, WC is run by the politics.. in the case of WC, when you're best friends with the AD and his wife you get to coach whether you win or lose.

I'm aware Danny is the coach at DCHS, I was just speaking of the political game they seem to be playing there. If I'm not mistaken the same powers that be that ousted Cope is on the boys coach Martin now.

JPC was railroaded in Dekalb. Heck of a coach. Is at ole miss now, guess that's a pretty big leap for someone who had teams that lack toughness. Those girls gave 110% for him and nobody on this forum can argue that. He was an "outsider" who the local boys didn't like him. Coach Martin is now on the chopping block because of his "toughness"... 🙄

Assistant. The head coach is still there, but its been told all the assistants left. I believe WC assistants make decent money on top of teaching. Be interesting to see I suppose.

Nope nothing at all wrong with that at all. I've heard rumor that he may be going to warren county but I know of no truth to that. As far as I know the head coach from warren county hasn't changed so not sure what role if any Cope would play in the program. Apparently all the assistants from wc have stepped down.

I'm just on the outside looking in, I've just watched Cope coach on a few occasions. A lot of heart and passion. Kinnard will probably do a fine job, has a lot of talent coming from the 8th grade. Did cope choose to step down or was he let go?

Any word on where Cope will land, if anywhere? He was a hard nosed coach that seemed to get a lot out of the girls.

Doesn't seem like a lot of thought went into this hire.. Time will tell.. Just seems like they are taking 2 steps back. Cope had that program on the upward swing IMO especially in one of the hardest districts in the state.

not heard a single name mentioned for the DC job. Still curious if Cope was looking to leave or if he was let go.

If I'm not mistaken Coach Slatten is from White County.. Great coach, well liked and would be an asset to any program. He'd be a good hire at Dekalb. Not sure what the Cope situation is, but IMO he truly helped the DC program get out of the basement.

Yeah, I don't understand how a school that size is always at the bottom of the barrel.. I saw them a little over the summer and they looked decent, winning some games that they probably shouldn't have, looked to be gelled nicely and having fun. I've seen them twice this year and I see no fire, no gel and no fun. Just out there going through the motions and coach just kinda stood on the sidelines with a blank face. That makes for a long miserable disappointing season..

Really don't expect much else from that county when it comes to sports.. It's always seemed to be the buddy system hiring process.. Heard there were some good coaches overlooked when Panter was hired because the powers that be "wanted to make a local hire ".. Maybe one day things will change.. Was Panter ever successful at the middle school?

Kinda what i thought. Doesn't look like it's working out to well for them by the looks of their record and their style of play. But hey, there's always next year and the years to come. Heard the freshman class coming in has decent talent and the upcoming sophomores as well.. But that's yet to be seen. If they don't have a coach that can bring the best out in kids it doesn't matter how much talent there is, they won't be successful.. And if what I hear is true about the coach quitting on the kids then it's time for her to go. Ultimately wins and losses are a direct reflection of the coach!

Baird seemed to have a pretty decent staff on his bench, especially the guy who I believe now is an assistant for the boys team. And there was a lady on her bench last year, believe she has a daughter that plays that seemed to have her act together too.. Maybe last name Eckenrod (sp). Is she not on staff anymore?

Yes, I believe that is putting it lightly.. IMO you can't take a middle school coach with absolutely no high school head coach experience and be successful, unless you have a whole squad of superstars or inherit a load of talent.. At that point it doesn't matter who the coach is.. Unfortunately WC has neither of those luxuries. Does she have assistant coaches?
