  1. I believe he was the Head Coach at Lancaster Christian when they won a National Championship back 6 years or so ago.
  2. See where you are getting a new press box that will probably cost in the neighborhood of $60,000. That amount of money will buy a ton of Rain Bird sprinkler heads. Thought someone got a stipend for mowing and field maintenance at all CMCSS high schools. How much do you need to get the field in good condition?
  3. I watched some 7 v 7 at APSU, saw where the old press box at CHS was torn down, and looked at their game field. Field needs some TLC.
  4. I believe I would have had a talk with that doctor at the time of his "conservative treatment" statement and asked for a 2nd opinion. That is easy for me to say without knowing the entire consultation, treatment, therapy process. A prep school is the best alternative to the problem that I know of and it would not count against his 5 for 4 in college.
  5. Haven't thought about that, but guessing it will go to 25 sec.
  6. NEHS lost 2 fine playmakers in Antoine and Cross. Key is how they use Orr in their offense. You have Freeman, a fullback that gained 1000 last year and Orr , a tailback that gained 1400 +/- vs. 6A competition. Question is where do you get them enough carries for either to be the bell cow at RB. Another question is how do you lose 4 coaches off a staff that went to the playoffs?
  7. Northeast HS just got the best RB in Clarksville to transfer in about a month ago. Had over 1200 yards in 6A last year. They deserve a lot of ink with their returning talent.
  8. wackojacko, Reading comprehension will pay off one day for you. I believe I said OL & def backs are the 2 most important positions on the field.
  9. wackoffjaof, Sure thought you were going to get that job at DB with all of the great knowledge you spew out. Good luck to Coach Christian. Great to see an OL Coach get the job since that position and def backs are the 2 most important on the field. wackoffjaof - go back to working on cars.
  10. Congrats to Coach Jeremy Bosken on your selection as the new Head Football Coach at Knoxville Halls HS. You have a Principal in Mark Duff that is an administrator first, educator 2nd (taught AP History) and a darn good secondary coach. I know where his heart is on Friday nights, watching that secondary. I think he has a great group of young coaches that he has inherited. Hope he runs the option, got a QB that I think can be special! Also hope he gets to go through spring practice with the Devils. And for those that don't like what HTV says about what he hears, you are probably the same one that would jump down his throat if he mentioned names and they didn't get the job. Advice...DON'T READ IT.
  11. This news that I received yesterday was saddening and shocking. Coached with him in All-Star games, scrimmaged while at Loudon and played Red Bank a couple of times. Our profession has truly lost one of the great men in this business. Signed one of his players from Red Bank in 2012. Those of us that knew Tim Daniels as a friend, coach or mentor are better people because of his friendship. He was one of the 18 founding members of the Tennessee Football Coaches Association (TnFCA). Our thoughts and prayers to his family. RIP Coach Tim Daniels.
  12. Well one left and just came back. Knoxville's pay is not that bad, it just can't compare to Oak Ridge, Maryville and Blount Co., Kingsport.
  13. NEHS - more talent than anyone in city, best A back in city just transferred in, Def. Player of year will be a senior, QB should have many offers by now, skill kids coming back, must replace 3 OL. Henry Co CHS Dyer Co/West Creek West Creek/Dyer Co. Kenwood NWHS
  14. TSSAA has no control over consolidation.
  15. To those that have a 25 second clock at their field the conversion to a 40 second clock should be minimal, less than $100.
  16. HTV, Must be something in the water along Emory Rd! Bet there are many that will apply unless Coach Duff moves swiftly and hires from within.
  17. Rumor at Downtown Commons is that #1 RB in Montgomery Co. and his younger brother have enrolled at NEHS. Wow...bet that will light a fire! Maybe NEHS & Rossview ought to be 1 big school, 9-10 at one school and 11-12 at the other. Orr to NEHS and Scott to Rossview. Consolidate the schools and city/county government all in one vote.
  18. Just a guess, Rossville Christian was the opponent om Sept. 8, 2017 so that date should be Sept. 7 for 2018. Might should try to keep them on the schedule as that was a W.
  19. Really appreciate every comment. We better circle the wagons to protect our game. Within the past 2 days Maryland and California have legislature from politicians that want to ban tackle football until the player reaches 9th grade. I think this is just as extreme as playing tackle football at age 5. The Tennessee Football Coaches Association should come out with what stance they plan to take by June. Personally, I vote for flag 5-8, modified 9-11 or 12, tackle 11 v. 11 when they reach middle school - 7th & 8th grade. And yes we need to have coaches TEACH and COACH FUNDAMENTALS and keep the head out of the game as much as we can. Stats show from 2007 - 20016, high school football has 46,000 less participants, 26,000 less in 2015-16. ALARMING.
  20. Appreciate your statements and opinion. The USA football way for flag is that everybody is eligible to catch a pass, even the center. If you are a heavy kid over the "weight limit per age group", then you can't play anything but OL. Wonder what position Jared Lorenzen played in youth league. He weighed 275+ and played QB at UK and the NFL.
  21. No problem. The modified game I'm speaking of is a field 40 yds. long and 35 yds. wide, top of #'s to top of #'s. 6 on 6, 7 on 7, or 8 on 8. No kicking, no blitzing, no cut blocking. ALL PLAYERS IN A 2 POINT STANCE. Go to: usafootball.com/rookie tackle New concept sponsored by the NFL. I just attended the USA Convention in Orlando last weekend. I'm sold on it, as are many former college and NFL players. My idea: 5 - 8 yrs old -> FLAG (5 on 5), 9 - 10 -> MODIFIED 40 YD FIELD, (6 on 6 or 7 on 7), 11 - 12 -> MODIFIED (8 ON 8) 60 YD FIELD. FULL TEAM 11 ON 11 REGULATION FIELD -> MIDDLE/JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL What do you think?
  22. Thanks for your comment. Both of my sons didn't play until they were 10 years old. The youngest played college football for 4 years. Rationale behind the question's are this, I think 5 years old is way to young for tackle football. I have talked to coaching friends at the youth, high school , college and NFL level recently about my thoughts. The only one's that disagree with me are youth league parents/coaches. Baseball starts at 5-6 yrs. old and they play T ball, then progress to coach pitch or machine pitch with the final step of player pitch about the age of 9. WHY NOT DO THE SAME WITH FOOTBALL? FLAG, SOME TYPE OF MODIFIED GAME, THEN TACKLE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL? Just my opinion and I'm sticking to it.
  23. Coaches, administrators, parent give your opinion at which age kids should start playing tackle football. All opinions matter.
  24. Coaches, administrators, parents give your opinion the age kids should begin playing tackle football. All opinions matter.
  25. Coaches, administrators, parents give me your opinion on the age that kids should be allowed to play tackle football? All opinions matter.
