  1. Haven’t heard that. Personally I would like to see a consistency when a player doesn’t cleanly catch a pass, it hits the ground, and they pick it back up. Sometimes when they next take an actual dribble, they get called for double dribble and sometimes nothing. I think this needs to be addressed more than the backcourt rule.
  2. I counted 335 in the three classes Tennessee has. 114 in A, 109 in AA, and 112 in AAA. Not sure where those numbers came from. Do you have a link?
  3. This article was from years ago. What does it have to with him now?
  4. Lost by 3 the first time and won by 2 yesterday. Sometimes coaches lose. In fact, half of the coaches in the state lost last night. He went 22-9 and had a sectional berth last year, 23-7 and Final 4 in state the year before. Sounds like he was doing a good job.
  5. Most pitchers recover best on 4 days rest. Seems like this one went on 1 day of rest. One, don't think he could be very effective and two, it's not physically good for a pitcher to do that. Too much can go wrong. I think it would be wrong to throw a power pitcher on one day rest if they threw a full game.
  6. What happened to their coach? Resign? New job?
  7. If I were a teacher, there would be no incentive to score a 4 or a 5 then. I'd have a better chance to keep my job by being a 2 or 3 if they are just going to vote you out. What happened to rewarding people who do well in their jobs? Moore County is the only county I've heard of this happening though.
  8. Sounds like he had a good record and good run whether he made it to state or not. Hard to get good coaches into a system when you fire them right when they're building something.
  9. Does anyone know how long Slatten was at Moore County?
  10. Who wins the 4th game between Jeff and Seymour tonight?
  11. In East Tennessee, I think Union County and CAK have the best chance. I know Elizabethton is pretty good. Kingston and Alcoa are fighting CAK in their district and are also very good. Chuckey-Doak girls are good also but I think they would have trouble against Union, CAK, Kingston, or Alcoa.
  12. Wasn't Osborne from Bearden, and Hadden from Morristown West on last year's SC team?
  13. I bet that Tullahoma/Riverdale game is closer than people think. Wouldn't be surprised if the Lady Wildcats get the majority of 50/50 and judgment calls.
  14. Make it an elimination game? Not a bad idea with top 3 going and 1's getting byes in first round of region. I actually like sending four but what I heard from this game was disgraceful. I don't think that will happen because this does not seem like a common occurrence. Or maybe it happens more than we think
  15. Would be an interesting region final with CPA and Creekwood. Can Cascade or Marshall county knock Creekwood off before getting to CPA?
  16. Uh oh. I must be sniffing around too much. The link I posted above was from a newspaper in Georgia and there was one from the news sentinel. News sentinel said he came from Douglas county. The article with the link says he was at south Gwinnett and quit and was Douglas county before that. I just assumed he went back to Douglas county before going to Carter since that's what the news sentinel reported. Not all the people who post on here are idiots.
  17. The point was...he was NOT at the previous place for 14 years like you said. He left, quit, then left again. If he really wants a challenge, he will stay at Carter and run that system with the returning talent. We would get a good idea of how well the guy can coach. If he went to state with that group (barring any transfers) running the system, I'm sure he'd get his props. You as an outsider would have to agree with me on that one.
  18. http://m.gwinnettdailypost.com/news/2007/jan/20/south-boys-hoops-coach-boydstone-resigns/?templates=mobile Carter's coach came from Douglas county and this article says he quit in the middle of the year in 2007. So he was at Douglas county, left and got a job at south Gwinnett, left them in the middle of the year, apparently went back to Douglas county, then to carter. So he's left 3 jobs in 14 years.
  19. My post was directed at you not getting it. How many national players you think roll in to Wartrace to play at Cascade every year? How many you think move to Pulaski to play at Giles County? What about Marshall County? None. CPA is unbelievably good. No one is questioning that. The reason they are good and the team to beat in Tennessee is completely different than why other teams in their district or region are good every once in a while. This whole thread is about them being just as good or better than the other private schools and nationally ranked schools, making the argument that it's probably not fair that their district is made up of 5 public schools from rural areas AND 1 Nashville area school who gets Division 1 talent in-fluxed every year "somehow".
  20. You are just helping prove the point made by the first commenter. Pretty sure they were saying that CPA should be with those other hand-picked teams and not with the public schools. Nobody said they weren't good and nationally-acclaimed. The fact that they are so good, with "hand-picked players", means the commenter is lobbying for them to go to Division II. At least that's what I got out of the quote.
  21. I heard the waterboy was sick tonight. Everyone knows that their offense runs through him. With as much as they run, if they don't get thoroughly hydrated, they can't run their system. (i.e. If Bowden, Jackson, and Woodruff were there, they weren't missing anyone). Still haven't seen a score if this is true.
  22. I like how you said "the offense starts and ends through your PG". While this is true for teams that actually run an offense, it doesn't apply to Carter. Even without their "point guard", Bowden is a good enough ball handler and player to run an offense in his absence. With the self-proclaimed "system" that Carter runs, it doesn't matter who's at point. They get their points through pressing and running. When Bowden, Jackson, and Woodruff get the ball, they are NOT looking for their point guard to get into a set. They're looking to score. As far as the two technicals are concerned, the two kids hit shots on Jackson and let him know about it (apparently before the game there was some jawing back and forth about who would score on who). I wouldn't say it was a lack of discipline on their coach (who sat both kids after they did it). In fact, Jackson got a technical in the Pigeon Forge Christmas tourney. So does that mean Carter's coach has no discipline?
