Another way to put it, how many Championships does Oakland win if the roles were reversed? If Creasy is the HC at Blackman, and Oakland was coached by the combination of Watson, Hartsfield, and Tygard?

Just my opinion, but if Creasy was the coach at Blackman instead of Oakland, the past seven years, then Blackman would've won 3 State Championships.

Wyant stayed but OC left to go to Knox Catholic. The Offense was never the same.

That makes sense. I heard pretty much the same with the caveat that those who were a good fit after Spring might be asked to be freshman coaches in the future. I Just assumed that applied to Knox and Taylor. Both are quality coaches. Could've helped Blackman in the trenches these past two years.

The offensive line coach at Oakland is David Watson. He was former HC at Blackman. Oakland's Defensive line coach is Coach Knox. He was the previous D line coach at Blackman. Alex Taylor was the former Offensive line coach at Blackman and he's now at Alcoa. Both Knox and Taylor were on staff when Tygard took over. Rumor is that Knox and Taylor were told that they weren't good enough to coach at this level. Oakland and Alcoa disagreed.

Can y'all think of anybody in the last 20 years who has made the jump from Middle School HC to 6A High School HC?

For $130,000 plus incentives I'd expect a top 10 finish. But it's not my tax dollars, that's why I posed the question to the people of Cleveland. They may have different expectations. Especially a certain Booster.

For the Cleveland peeps. At the salary that Tygard will make coaching, how long will the Administration / Booster give him to produce a winner?

I guess we are about to find out. If the new coach comes in and wants to run power I with 2 TEs on offense and run a 4-3 defense, then people will expect the middle school to follow suit. I love the way Oakland has it set up. From youth, to Middle School, to Varsity they run the same offense and defense with the same terminology. It makes a big difference.

Blackman will be fine. It'll be interesting to see what direction the new principal chooses to go. He'll have his choice of many really good coaches.

I asked about salaries because this is the challenge with Public Schools. They are very limited on what they can pay their coaches. Pretty much all of the salaries are the same regardless of what size school you coach at. Why would a coach who has been very successful leave their current situation to rebuild another program for the same pay? Also, if you are very successful, the private schools come calling and double your salary. This leaves the administration stuck having to usually hire an up and comer or get very lucky and find somebody who is wanting a new challenge. I don't envy Principals in having to make these hires.

What's crazy is that this is supposed to beat down year in talent for Oakland. Their Sophomore class is loaded with talent.

Don't sleep on Beech. They are really good.

Here's my take. Creasy has a really good system on both sides of the ball. He demands perfection at practice. You will run it his way or you will not play. He cuts no corners. Add to that good players, and great assistant coaches and you have a formula for success. Blackman has had plenty of good players to beat Oakland. Master Teague, Trey Knox, Adonis Otey, Michaelus Elder, DJ Gibson, Connor Murphy, John Hartman, and O' Brien. These are all of the players that I can think of since 2017 that have received full scholarships at the D1 or FCS level. This does not include this years class. With all of that talent, you'd think that Blackman could have beaten Oakland once. A very prominent coach told me one time... Players get you to the Quarter Finals. Coaching gets you to the Championship.

I think the offensive gameplay was sound. Blackman players left it all on the field. The 0-4 on onside kicks gave Oakland 100 free yards. Can't do that and win. I'm interested to hear from you all on what Blackman has coming back next year. They lose 3 power five players and 2-3 FCS players. Is Blackman gonna reload or is it a complete rebuild?

True. Elijah hold an offer from EKU as a DB. Georgia wanted Justin as a Safety. I think that's where he'll play wherever he goes. Jacob played both ways at Ensworth and just picked up offers from Liberty and Virginia Tech this past week. Not sure where they want him to play though. This roster is stacked! Gonna come down to coaching.

Blackman has a 6'3" WR who just received a Liberty offer. and a 6'5" TE/WR (currently committed to California. Not to mention the WR committed to Miss State. CCs DBs don't match will with that. CC defense is built to stop the run not the pass. Blackman should roll.
