  1. AAA - I don't have much pulse on 3A except to say that the Chattanooga schools have been dominate as of late so my guess is the winner comes from Baylor or McCallie or whoever can knock them off. AA - After attending the AA championship game I would say CPA has to be the favorite. Also, playing in the last 6 championship games and winning a few doesn;t hurt either. They had close to, if not, 100 kids dressed out and some studs on the field and sidelines so they keep reloading, right? Rankin will continue to develop Boyd's program and they will be tough. They had many young players contributing so they should continue to improve. I would say other teams in the running would be Davidson, FRA, Webb, Lausanne. Reynolds may have a better year next year at CCS too. A - My picks in no particular order would be CA, DCA, JC, FC, MTCS. I leave out NC only based on what posters have said about Curtis moving on. If he's back, then they obviously jump back in the mix if not move closer to the overall favorite.
  2. You won most years but they have a gold ball and remind me, did you guys play the lowly eagles this year?
  3. The Eagles fell just a tipped onside kick from having a chance to knock off the Bulldogs on the road last night but have nothing to hang their heads about. For the second year in a row, they finished the year 11-2 with some great wins and a few tough outs. The fought to the very end and overall played very well. Offensively, they moved the ball and scored well after losing their most dynamic player, and arguably the best ever at JC. Many of the boys will move on but some greats will be back next year and I look forward to seeing what they can do. Big rematch of the week 0 or 1 matchup between MTCS and CA should be a great one.
  4. My guess is they don't score unless CPA has called off the first team. They will play hard, but don't have a ton of size or speed compared to years past.
  5. You guys went single coverage, mistake, JC recognized it and Mosely beat the DB 1 on 1. You guys are laughable trying to downplay Jay's ability to dominate a game, which he did in the first 9 games of this season and would have in week 10 too. Just keep typing...You get to see him next year.
  6. I see that I did post the word deceiving in the section about Trinity / NC. I’ll stand by that till the day I die. I believe most from both sides would agree. JC gave the ball up on short fields multiple times including on a fluke kickoff. Those are facts. Obviously they fumbled the ball but TCA didn’t dominate the full game and I’d put money on JC in a rematch and wouldn’t even blink. The game plan from TCA was fine, especially once Mosley was injured. If Thomkins had gone out in the 2nd Q like Mosley and your guys had been up 2 TDs and JC came back you’d feel the same way as me. If I was acting like losing him made no difference you’d be saying the same things. Best of luck this week and the rest of the playoffs, hopefully we’ll see you all in Chatt.
  7. The pot calling the kettle black, “Homer”. No one cares about games from years back and I said nothing about the score being deceiving in my post. But since you brought it up, you’re the one posting like losing Mosley, a Mr. Football semi finalist, didn’t have an effect on the outcome of week ten’s game. At this point, it’s laughable. I hope my prediction for your game is wrong and JC and Trinity go on a run and we meet up in Chatt in a few weeks. I’m sure by that point your coach will be considered the best in TN highschool football history and JC won’t get a first down and give up points to Trinity on each of their possessions.
  8. I will throw my picks in... JC @ CA JC continues to adjust to life without Mosley and DeMoss continues to improve in his new WR role. The Eagles defense locks in for a close win over CA in a battle of the CoC brotherhood. FACS @ MTCS I was at the JC/FACS game and my takeaway is that FACS has some guys but are undisciplined and wont be able to contain the offense of MTCS. NC @ Trinity The Trinity score over JC was deceiving and NC played some tough competition, making their record look worse than they are. I think NC has a good chance of going to Jackson and pulling out the win. DCA @ FCS FCS is too much for DCA and put up a similar score from their matchup earlier this year.
  9. I will be interested in seeing the running game CA has against the defense of JC. They have been a tough group all year holding most of their opponents to lower yards and scoring than what they regularly produce. They are quick to the ball and have some kids that really get after it. The TCA score, giving up 24 in the second half, was a bi-product of losing Mosley and losing 2 fumbles on back to back series, giving TCA the ball on their side of the field and an accidental onside kick that TCA recovered. TCA's RB is a load though and had around 170 yards on 52 carries. I don't think he had a run over 7-8 yards with an average of a little over 3 yards per carry. Maybe CA replicates that scheme, maybe they can't. My guess is that with a few weeks of prep and a game under their belt without Mosely, the offense will be better prepared. What's CA defense like? Do they have anyone on the outside that can make the passing game a threat? Any size up front?
  10. He’s a junior so he’ll be strapped up for the Eagles next year. Sadly, I heard that he is done for the season and will have a multi month recovery after a probable surgery. It was a crushing blow but if fate allows we can still have a rematch in a few weeks.
  11. Am I incorrect? You were down 2 scores before he got hurt, correct? How would the game plan have worked if he hadn't gone down?
  12. Jay has at least 14 D1 offers including one from Bama, UT, Auburn, etc. He's a 4star by Rivals and has been unstoppable this year. NC has struggled with a great QB and DCA lost 4 games this year. That's not proving your statement about them taking over games...my point is that the game was drastically different with him going down in the 2Q. I assume NC and DCA would look way different if those players went down with a season ending injury in the middle of a game. Meanwhile, these TCA guys are posting like the game plan would have beaten JC if Mosley hadn't gotten hurt. We will never know because he did get hurt, but they were also down 17-3 at the half with him in the game.
  13. I charted TCA’s first 20 plays from last nights game and they gave the ball to the RB 20 times But not quite half of his 52 carries for the game. If your assessment is correct about JC then TCA’s offense is as dull as a plastic fork and as balanced as 5 year old on seesaw with an elephant. Surely you see the irony?
  14. 17-3 at the half. TCA wasn’t winning if he doesn’t go down.
  15. I wont argue that the game plan from TCA wasn't good. But down 2 scores and wanting to run the ball like they did would have never worked if Jay was on the field...surely you realize that. He is a factor on both sides of the ball and special teams. TCA should be proud of the region championship and the regular season but don't kid yourself thinking that the injury was a major, if not the largest factor. You were down by 2 tds at the half. Anyone saying "the gameplan" won the game and that the impact of Jay's injury wasn't that big of a deal is just not being honest. For those saying he isn't the best in this division...I believe 100% he is and would have hard time thinking otherwise. It's hard to compare RB numbers to WR so that may be part of the deal there. Either way, he is one of the best for sure. JC playing with out Jay for the rest of this year will obviously look different. I am confident that they have the players to make some noise in the playoffs even with out Jay. The staff there will have time to work on how to move forward without him on both sides of the ball but it was too much in the middle of that game for coaches and his teammates to overcome. Best of luck to TCA and maybe we'll see you all again soon!
  16. But their RB still played. The scenarios are completely different. They had guys step up when the RB was still playing.
  17. He's arguably the best player in Div II A. You're going to rely on him. He has seen very little action in a handful of games after half. I assume TCA has a great backup plan for their RB who had 52 carries last night??? I mean, talk about reliance.
  18. What part of the above statement?
  19. With Mosley JC wins by 3+ TDs. TCA came to play but the injury made a massive impact on the game.
  20. I would love to know more about Knox Webb...seems like there isn't much chatter on them. I know Boyd has had a few key players out over the past few weeks and am wondering if that will play a role in the outcome of that game. All Div II AA regions are being decided tonight in week 9, it's pretty cool how that worked out this year.
  21. The TCA/JCS game is looking like it will be potentially a great one. Can JCS slow down Thompkins and can TCA slow down Mosley???
  22. A couple updates with some stats and a quick thought. The championship is in Chattanooga at UTChatt not Cookville. I also believe its an "easy" road to Chatt, compared to last year. The W1 host all the way to the finals this year. Last year, USJ, as the 1, had to travel for the semi matchup. JC also traveled as the 2, so from a home field advantage there wasn't really a difference between them and USJ had to travel farther by time and mileage. With the W1 hosting all the way to the finals, its a better draw. I know nothing about FCS, NCS, DCA, CA, or MTCS except for what I've read on here and the knowledge of how things went last year. USJ was knocked off by FCS and JCS was crushed by NCS. JC defeated CA and MTCS on the way to play NCS. NCS does have their QB back but lost a number of really good players so it seems that they may not be quite as good as last year. USJ is obviously down a bit and I think JC is better than last year. Stats for 3 of 4 games JC vs USJ - 175 rushing yards, 177 passing yards. Kelly 11/14 with 2 tds, Mosley 7 catches for 150 yards and a td. Deuce had 120 of 175 yards on the ground. Defense with a couple takeaways and and TD. JC vs Goodpasture - 229 passing and 192 rushing, Kelly 13/18 for 229 yards. Mosley 10 catches for 204, Deuce 17/105 and a TD, Jones 9/83 and TD. Defense gave up 183 and offense had 421 yards. JC vs Peabody - Kelly 16/21 324 4tds and 1 rushing td. Mosley 9 for 187 and 2 tds, Green 4 for 79 and a td, Carrier 2 for 45 and a td. Defense had 3 takeaways. If you're saying they are 1 dimensional because of Mosley then that argument could be made for most any Div II 1A team and their best offensive player (just look at the last few year's Mr. Football finalist). The offense seems fairly balanced from a production standpoint and until someone stops Mosley, which at this level I'm not sure is possible, then they would be foolish to not give him the ball. I would assume he has been the best player on the field for each of their games and probably will be until late in the playoffs if not each game. If you can score, you score and if someone can stop him then they will address it when/if that time comes.
  23. Not sure about the over all play of those years but this team has a number of weapons. I would argue this year’s defense is better than last year and from an offensive production standpoint the QB play has been very good and they have a balanced offense. I’ll see about pulling some stats to back up my gut.
