  1. I agree with Tar Heel, the talent is low and SD is in a down cycle. It will not stay that way, but I don't see the talent in the junior high programs like Ooltewah has. The talent is definitely an issue. I plan to watch Ooltewah and Blount this week. That should be a good one. Good luck to the Trojans against Bradley!
  2. I saw Ooltewah against Rhea and SD against William Blount and Rhea. I think Ooltewah has the stronger team and will dominate the govs. Good luck Owls!
  3. Deniron and the SD bashing. On and on it goes. For someone who is suppose to be friends with a lot of the SD players dads, it is getting old. Do you even know how to hold a football? Yes, many of us know who you are. Sad Sad. SD is down is football this year-it happens eventually to all programs. Don't forget SD had 3 TSSAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP TEAMS LAST YEAR. Not bad for a public school this day and time in one year. Cheerleading (yes they are pretty but also talented atheletes). wrestling, and softball. Not bad for using knives hey Deniron. SD is low on skill athletes and it hurts programs like football and basketball but look back at their junior high programs the last few years. I have a relative on the team and another on the way. He plays hard and I don't appreciate someone like you of all people putting him and his teammates down. I know one dad who said...... you off your barstool! Weathers and Shumate leaving, maybe they will. I heard Shumate turned down a college offer this summer. Both are not cut and run types but at 65+ they won't coach forever. I guarantee you it won't be during the season.
  4. Catbiddle, if you are from Ooltewah as you say, you of all people should have some respect for SD softball. They have owned Ooltewah for a decade now. Your posts are always negative toward the Lady Trojans and your jealousy is very obvious. Soddy has a great program and tradition, but the girls are human and do lose a game every once in a while. I would not count them out yet. They have a tough road to the championship, but they have went that route before and won the State championship. Just get off your jealousy kick against Soddy. In fact, go work on your bunting and field some grounders.
  5. 7:00 PM Eastern at Soddy Lake fields
  6. "Poor Soddy is right! From following the Chattanooga area teams for some time, I don't remember Soddy ever losing to Riverdale. That is EVER
  7. Blaster, your initial comment makes no sense. The very nature of the Traditional State Tournament dictates that the TEAM State Champ wins by virtue of the performance of all individuals. So, the Bears won in years past with the help of the Irish, Mustangs, Pioneers, etc. just like Soddy did this year. Why even make your initial statement like it was the Bears vs. all the other teams. Soddy won by beating all the other teams and having more individuals place higher than any other teams individuals. I know you are trying to justify Bradley coming up short, but it seems the Trojans have had the same experience in years past. Your comment was unneccesary and resulted in poor taste. I hate to see a pouting Bear.
  8. Ron Shumate of Soddy-Daisy High
  9. "yall" need to read a book on how to talk properly. Do "yall" read books at Red Bank?
  10. The game was not a back and forth game. SD stayed in control the whole game and ended up winning by 10. Coach Shumate gets the most from this team and they play really hard. Congrats to the Trojans!
  11. Anyone who says Shumate doesn't match up in the credential area is a true moron. SD DAD won't be sorry about his son playing for Coach Shumate. I'm surprised the real estate hasn't skyrocketed up in Soddy land with people taking advantage of that opportunity. SD hit a home run with the "Big Shu"!! He will be good for Chattanooga high school basketball period.
  12. The administration, especially the principal, supports all the sports programs at SD. I played there and know as a player he promotes and supports the whole athletic program. Football always gets more attention, but that is the community more than the administration. Look at the coaching staff he has put together - great staff up and down the line. By the way, Weathers is not leaving SD. Just the rumor mill cranking out more fodder.
  13. I think both Chattanooga teams in this region must be suffering from injuries. According to the newpaper article, Soddy Daisy has 8 starters out of action, including the heart of their offense, Jared Dobbs the quarterback, and the heart of their defense, Justin Hart.
  14. I couldn't believe it when I heard Farragut 35 and Ooltewah 7. That my friends is a sound whipping. At the beginning of the year, almost every post, no matter what topic, ended up having discussion dominated by talk of Owl championships. It looks like the owls are laying low these days.
