  1. Mitchell is honestly right on the pace they have been in the last 3 championship seasons. All 3 seasons had either 6 or 7 loses against quality bigger schools to have them tourney ready. Mitchell scheduling Whitehaven and CBHS right in the thick of their District schedule will pay off.
  2. Mitchell vs Mase should be a good championship if it happens. Gipson and London can put the ball in the hoop but I know it won't be an easy one against that Tigers D.
  3. Honestly i hate to say it, thats all it was. With alot of hustle added to it. I would've never propelled them over Mitchell in the state
  4. Its crazy that everyone was so in awe about WEB's team and style and now they will be nowhere to be found in the end. Called it from the start, good coaching can defeat their philosophy.
  5. Big playoff implications on this game. BA and McCallie have already clinched #1 & #2 seeds respectively, and this game is for the #3 seed. If Ensworth wins they clinch, a lost will give the #3 seed to Pope John Paul. The #3 seed isn't necessarily an attractive seed in the East bc all roads go through Brentwood, but the #4 seed you have to go through two tough opponents along with playing a first round game instead of having a bye. A lost would make Ensworth have to go through McCallie and CBHS after playing a first round game at home at worst. I dont think this years Ensworth team is nearly as good as last, so it really doesn't matter who they go through. But I got McCallie by 8, the home crowd will keep it close knowing what's at stake. Ensworth will lose tonight and more than likely have to face McCallie in the Quarterfinals in Nashville.
  6. Stop the Tyler circus show and you got a chance lol. I dont really see him sticking around by himself next year at cordova. They're losing Blake to graduation and Brown to age restriction.
  7. Oh wow I automatically assumed it was Southwind. Cordova was kind of snubbed last year by Gtown maybe it’s a makeup game. I always thought the city championship was just a region 8 thing but as you said Cordova is in the city. And the games don’t have any effect on regional seeding, this weekend is nevertheless just bragging rights. Bragging rights which some think is a curse lol bc if you look back there are teams that win the city championship and don’t make it to state, such as last year’s Gtown.
  8. Great analysis. The Southwind East game should be a good one this weekend, hopefully.
  9. Man AAU doesn't even get this out of hand.
  10. http://www.majorprepsports.com/tigersportsreport-com-chandler-and-johnathan-lawson-making-a-move-for-2017/ Someone on here mentioned Keelon not being on Memphis's staff next year and possibly going back to coach at Hamilton which could be true. But honestly we treat these kids like they are multi million dollar superstars. Sometimes we just need to play ball and thats all.
  11. I've honestly seen BA play too many times to doubt them. Every time i leave their game i tell myself "dang thats a great team with a great coach". BA is #24 now on unapproved website, next year we wont be having this conversation bc East doesn't lose any players that matter and BA loses an extremely talented Jeremiah Oatsvall along with some other quality shooters. I've been on board saying that if Garland wins another ring this year, i will not be surprised if he opts for a prep school bc he's already a top 10 player and has done it on a private school level. Maybe his Dad, a former NBA veteran, will think it's better for him to go and play a nationally ranked schedule and better himself before he steps on the college floor. They are originally from Indiana so a La Lumiere move won't shock me. This is just my wacky theory though lol.
  12. McCallie has played 30 games also. We all know how basketball is. Anyone can be beat on any night when the talent level isn't a huge gap. I wouldn't pick Memphis East to lose against HH again, and I wouldnt pick HH to lose to McCallie if they played tomorrow.
  13. I dont get into who beat who to cancel out who's the better opponent. BA could beat East they've done it two summers in a row(yes summer ball i know) in Memphis. Hubie is a great coach but that team goes as far as Garland leads them and there isn't a pg in the STATE that can stop him. The two times i saw them play eachother, J.O. had big games both times and Garland had around 30 pts and set up teammates for open threes. BA played ball hawking D and didn't let TJ moss get going and Lomax(didn't play in the 2016 matchup) wasn't able to bully Garland like he does some. The top teams of DII-AA are extremely undervalued in my eyes. I also saw East barely beat a CBHS team that was basically 1 on 5 over the summer but thats another story. East also had two kids in the summer that are back at Hamilton now that are studs on the Highschool level that would've made a tremendous difference coming off the bench, and it could be argued if they had these two guys for depth they would be undefeated and champions of both of the big tournaments they lost.
  14. Whats even more sad imo is the guys who are standing up for the 92 saying that "hey 92 points is 92 points" which is not the case. ive seen more defense in a 3 on 1 break than this.
  15. As a fan i wouldve walked out of the gym as soon as i saw the all star game type play start.
  16. Since i just about talk you guys daily I wanted to hear anyone,s opinion of it if you haven't seen it by now. Lamelo Ball ,of the internet famous ball brothers, dropped 92 last night on an less than inferior team in a extremely wacky game. He had 41 pts in the fourth quarter alone and spent most of the game just camping out at the free throw line waiting for a hail marry for a easy finish. I'll post the video below and i didnt bother watching the entire thing because around the 7 minute mark you'll see everything you need to see about the game. Would a team in our state even let something like this go on?
  17. Sidenote: I wonder if the west will be able to get another team into Nashville this year, bc from the looks of it right now BA McCallie and Ensworth are a lock for 1,2,3 respectively and Idk if any of the west teams will be good enough to get to Nashville outside of CBHS. Granted Ensworth isn't the same beast as they have been the past two years but I think Wiseman will be a difference maker against the smaller 2-4 West teams, but without Bone I couldn't see them beating CBHS again. I would honestly watch out for SBA if they can be the #2 Seed bc they are a very chippy bunch they run 4 guards with an athletic big and have just about scared every team out west so far. I'm honestly hoping for a CBHS BA final. Garland versus a healthy Douglas, who missed the earlier game in Memphis in which CBHS lead BA by double digits at one point until Garland started cooking.
  18. I have BA again. Garland is just too darn good. Both are coming off a big wins, McCallie more than BA, but the Eagles are giant killers. Does tonight's game even matter for first place? Bc Brentwood could lose tonight and win out and have the best record and win percentage along with highest point differential in the division so I'm curious to how the tiebreakers even work. If the point system applies McCallie would have to win by 17 to be #1 and i dont see that happening. I have BA by 7 only bc the game is in Chatt.
  19. Galilee i see that Mitchell plays Christian Brothers tonight. Should be a good season finale game to prep Mitchell for a post season run. Completely different style team from Grad but diversity always helps in the end. Grad is such a physical team but that's right up Mitchell's alley. Should be a good one tonight on the other hand.
  20. I saw an article and if im not mistaken penny said something about the dick's tourney, if im correct he must know that the tssaa will allow them to play. The only non private schools that I could see playing in the tourney is Chino, Nathan Hale in Seattle(Michael Porter Jr and Brandon Roy is the head coach), Sierra Canyon(Bagley and his starting 5 of all D1 players can compete with any prep school) and East. Now i can't see them picking all four, but I know that two of these teams is better(this year) than some of the prep schools that normally get the invitation. I'll try to find the article or source that i think i read to confirm.
  21. I agree both were bad loses, I think the Central was a bigger disappointment than the MUS one because they blew Central out earlier. And as far as the private schools god, MUS may not be Brentwood, but I see public schools come in and underestimate them all the time let their guards down and lose over the years. And the football guys have a winning mentality as we all know they compete all the time so I’m sure getting them back was the turning point.
  22. I honestly think they get in off of making it to the championship in two of the best tourneys in the country. Beating montverde 2-1 will be helpful, but in the end I think they will get in off the star power of having Penny on the bench which ESPN will surely capitalize on. As long as they win state it's hard for me not to see them in it.
  23. Southwind is the biggest threat in the region. Cordova isn't the same without having Dupree in the middle. He was a shot changer.
