  1. Yes I'm rooting for them too. I just hope they don't run the table or lose one game then get bounced by a 4-6 team in the playoffs
  2. I had to do a double take of the schedule. I believe their opponents up until this point have won 2 games COMBINED. Their margins have been enough to make me think they might be the real deal, but I don't know yet. Rest of the way doesn't show much competition either. Yeah Clay County but I don't know how real they are either as they are in same boat. I'll still go with Monterey by 10.
  3. Well the LA game was a bruiser. Both teams were feeling it afterwards. I can guarantee your coach will not be throwing anything the QB hasn't already seen. He's been their starter 3 years and is a good leader. LA got some heavy shots but he wouldn't stay down. Don't get me wrong, I hope your assessment is right. I will happily eat crow if I'm wrong, I just don't think it will happen.
  4. It will probably remain close through half (maybe 14-7). I expect LA to make any adjustments and explode the second half. I think that Upperman game may have tampered expectations and confidence a bit. Get pressure on McDonald or it could get ugly. Also LA defense has been strangling opponents. LA 42-7.
  5. For the record, I do not like Upperman, and I'm an LA fan. I root against them just like they root against us. That being said, a few notes. Offense: QB is good and durable, however he is more apt to beat you with his feet than his arm. They will run more often than throw. They will take their chances at least 2-3 times on what I remember as a 26 Trap (old days). The kid who runs it is a soph WR. Skinny little guy but fast. They sprung it on us for a TD. Offensive line is stout and tough. Not particularly quick but disciplined in the trenches. They get away with holds better than any o-line I've seen this year. WRs are quick, decent, cocky. RBs are effective as a committee. Nothing earth shattering but get the job done. In short, it all revolves around their QB. Defense: best defense you will play all year. Front 7 will shut down the run. So you'll beat them with your arm, right? We (LA) have one of the best QB/WRs in the state. We got 10 points. Couldn't get in any rhythm. The quick outs were there but they were quick to close. Just enough penetration to limit anything deep. Other notes: make sure you have a good punter and make the field long. Our punter did a fantastic job. If your kicker has a leg, limiting the returns helped for us. They gave up several personal foul calls (rivalry game, frustrated, whatever). If you smash them in the mouth as much as they will smash you, you will have a shot. But honestly, I don't see it. As much as it pains me, Bees by at least 2 TDs.
  6. or cave to demands. However you want to look at it.
  7. Final - LA 1 CC 0 - on to state
  8. Looking back, i can't be the only one who thinks the other side of the bracket may have been a little lopsided. It could easily have been E-town or Westview in the same position. great season to both EN and Upperman. Looking forward to next year.
  9. stats show 3-7 from the line. so must not be as bad as it appeared
  10. Congrats to the Bees from this LA fan. Expected the W, but not the score. 8-AA represent.
  11. No. Assuming you may mean how Lamb would drop against you guys. Nobody like that.
  12. Good call. There were times in the classic Upperman-LA games in which a couple girls on Upperman seemed to be winded quite often. However, if you let them drain from the perimeter, they will smoke you. Inside is where you will have to take advantage. Levy handles the ball better than anyone in the state, but she doesn't like you in her grill. Shutdown the perimeter and pound inside with your bread-n-butter. All easier said then done, of course.
  13. This is correct! A huge loss but great group returning.
  14. Agreed. We always enjoy watching the whole team each year, but our family has tabbed Keelie "our favorite player" over the last few years. Each time she stepped on the court this year, she was always the best "all-around" player. She was extremely effective at any position. Hard-nosed and gritty. Always the first off the floor for a rebound, list goes on. Congrats to Hogeye and Coach Riddle on a great year.
  15. Exactly. So the free throw excuse doesn't hold water. I'm not sure why MC faithful are on here making excuses for only winning by 3 points. You won!! Both teams were evenly matched. MC had 2 times to put the game away (leads by 8 and 10) but couldn't as LA rained down shots when they counted. To compare the last MC win by 18 or whatever it was is silly. Anyone who watched that game last night at the gym, like I did, saw 2 even teams. It could have gone either way.
  16. Folks, listen. LA had just as bad as a game as MC. Foul shots cost LA the game, too. Especially at the end. MC simply ran into a team just as good as they are. It wasn't close because they "had a bad game."
