Your comment is very similar to my understanding of the clearing houses and how financial aid is supposed to work. I know the Catholic schools in Nashville use - or at least used to - the least generous clearing house. And I think some confuse 100% of the available financial aid with 100% tuition.

The biggest head scratcher is the Father Ryan game. How do they lose by 35, which was Ryan's last win? I do not think BA has learned how to win with this new coaching staff as the talent seems to be there. Maybe low football IQ? Maybe play with no heart? With LA out, McCallie & Baylor are the obvious favorites, however I feel D2-3A is wide open. MBA with a first round bye at 4-6??

I cannot answer your question however my guess would be the expense of maintaining a regional/national schedule. BA, in the past, threatened to drop to DII-2A because they had difficulties in finding local, out of region games to fill out a 10-11 game schedule.

I would say Alcoa lost the game with their undisciplined play, penalties and turnovers more than Maryville won the game. Last night Farragut did not give the game away. I have a good friend that is a very successful high school coach and he firmly believes that more high school sports teams lose games vs win games.

I saw somewhere MBA's total enrollment was appx 830, which includes 7-8 grades.

Well Boog, the Nashville Diocese does need to pay for all the Titans commercials that the Bishop does. @cbg Pope rebranded itself when the school opened the middle school as they felt JP2 High School was no longer appropriate. The new headmaster thinks "Pope Prep" is not Catholic enough <sigh>.

Seems to be the case with Mawae losing the team. However, I would like to see a little more character and grit from the players. There is enough talent on the LA squad to have won last night's game in spite of coaching. Agreed BT28, the MBA D really stepped-up and played inspired football. This game remind me of a Bill Belichick quote, "It's not the best 53, it's the right 53".

I found it odd the article said as much as it did in praising a guy they just canned. Most "separation notices" nowadays read, "we have decided to part ways...we thank the coach for his service and wish him well in his next endeavor". FWIW, Franklin down 13-0 in the 1st.

Barn- what's the saying, "Adversity doesn't build character, it reveals it". It seems Maryville football is in unchartered territory so difficult for all involved, including coaches, players and fans. Now, regarding the defense and 3 DL vs 4. I don't know the team's personnel well enough to say which D they should play. However, is the D the issue? In the 3 losses, the O is averaging less than 14 points (in regulation).

The only time LA came to Pope, Dilfer threw a giant hissy fit because we did not have 15 reserved parking spots for his coaching staff and wives. Some had to use general parking. I thought our AD showed great restraint. Spoiled and immature, yea I’d say so. I felt I got a glimpse into the real person during that exchange. Pope went on to win the game as well as the following year
