  1. I never recieved a list. Please resend them.
  2. I dont want to sit, I want to play just as much as anyone else. But by letting them win is not the answer. Because if they do, theyll just continue to push us around.
  3. Sounds to me more like you and eaglefan need to switch counties, we need more people like YOU who would fight for it, instead of making blind excuses and accuations. Its almost sad that Im a 16 year old kid, who knows and cares more about this than an assistant coach. Its blackmail- WAKE UP MAN! I was at that meeting too- And I heard everything you did. Husk had to ba practicing those tears all night long, because she doesnt care, she wants her money. Yeah, coach hoods a good guy, but i dont play football, i play basketball, volleyball and softball. Maybe Im more blind than I think if footballs all that matters to anyone.
  4. Eaglefan: Before, in the beginning of these arguments, I agreed with you in many aspects. But you seem to get more and more blind to the issue with every post you make. We DONT want a tax raise, thats where Husk is winning, and its great that the commisioners are standing their ground. I am a 3 sport athlete and hate the situation as much as you do, but you have to look at the whole picture. There are positives and negatives to the commison passing this budget, by passing it, Husk wins, and to some people, it would make her look like a hero, but on the other hand, if the commision stand their ground, we wont play anymore. The commision isnt at fault here, its Husk- and if I could vote next year, you better belive it would be for anyone but her!
  5. Eaglefan: They are right, Doctor Husk is playing a game, and by reeling you in, shes winning. If she had gone about this the right way, the money would have been gotten long ago, but by abusing her power, shes only making it harder, and taking things that shouldnt have to be taken. If you didnt know, when she was in Colorado, the sports programs were abolished there too. Shes playing a game, and its not a fair one. The only reason the commison wont back down is because of the way shes going about this. Shes basically threating them. So good for them for not backing down, this is her whole intent.
  6. Schools begin next Friday (aug 22) and the board is going back to the commison Sept. 15th to ask for the money to cover athletics, pay raises, and extra cirricular activities- 2.1 million dollars, if they are turned down again (which unforunatly is very likely) all of these things are done, finished, no more. So at least until the 15th of September, everythings ok. :justwrestle:
  7. I still dont belive these coaches are in it for the money, they just dont want the same thing to happen to the pay that happened for the middle school feeder programs. You cant blame them for wanting to be paid, everyone of them works their tail off for the kids, and theyre only trying to get a point across to the board. Please send the list to mchs45@hotmail.com.
  8. Well, I went to the meeting today, and it was basically futile. Nothing really was solved, all we know is we have sports until at least September 15th, beyond then, who knows? Theyre going back to the commision to request again proper funding. If it is denied this time, sports as we know it in montgomery county are done. Thats it, everyone decided all or nothing. Which I agree with because of the safety issue, all we can hope now is that someone can unharden the commisions heart.
  9. In most instances that saying is true, but I dont see how it applies here. Some coaches coach for pure love of the sport. and if they get a little cash on the side- GREAT! (i.e- travel softball coaches, they put in about the same hours as a high school football coach, but doesnt get a penny for it) And the atheletes could care less about their coaches salary, they just wanna play, I wouldnt work any less harder if my coach didnt get paid. If anyhthing, I would probably work harder, because I know that theyre putting in time they dont have to just so I can play.
  10. Theyre trying to make cuts within the schools, when its their own pockets they need to be looking into. And now theyve just found another 200,000 because of a miscalculation???? Arent the people making these calculations supposed to be teaching us how to make them in the first place???? I think for 7.1 million dollars, the extravagant Mrs. Husk could stand to miss a trip to France, or buyin new company cars now and then.
  11. If thats what youve been told, then why does the news and paper keep repeating- Assitant coaches will recieve no supplement?????
  12. Its one HUGE mess! As far as I know- ALL assistants are going unsupplemented. I guess I agree with both sides of the argument. If it were me, Id coach for free just because I love to coach and wouldnt care about the money. But on the other hand, it is a slap in the face and more than likely the pay would never come back, like middle school sports didnt long ago, which hurts the county the most. The thing I dont understand is cutting JV. If the same coach was to coach it, wouldnt that be ok? The board pays NOTHING for sports except for the coaches supplement, and the boosters take it from there. I know there was talk before about getting rid of everything but basketball and football. I play 3 sports, and basketball is one of em, but if their gonna cut one, they better cut em all because theres no need just to keep 2 sports and nothing else, but I dont think thats going to happen anymore. This may push a few buttons, and I may be way off base, but Id start with cutting things like band, dance team and cheerleading. I think eaglefans motives are genuine and I applaude him for not backing down, and no one should criticize him for that descision. So I think both parties, for and against boy cotting need to look at both sides of the argument and work together. This is where a little coach's teamwork needs to come into play. I do know that alot of time in practice (especially football) has already been put in, and to give up now seems silly to me. Boy- what a mess!
  13. Respect is earned on the feild, not on the sidelines.
  14. Also- Any sport you play, your teammates are like on big family, you play together, eat together, hang out and spend almost every waking minute with eachother. So yeah, I realize this fact. Look at your basketball teams, or football, whatever. Im sure youll find that no where NEAR the amount of back biting goes on in these sports that cheerleading does. This has nothing to do however with weather or not cheerleading is really a sport. I think its really just a matter of opinion, and it looks to me like, any one who plays a real sport says no, and cheerleaders and parents (even really good friends of) say yes, and Ill admit, I enjoy watching the competions on TV, some of the things they do are amazing, but you dont see that here.
  15. Thats great, and I wasnt makin reference to your squad and your squad only, and I didnt say all, I said most. Cheerleaders amy do offense cheers and defense cheers and foul shot cheers, but weather the actually know what offense of defense does is another story, alot of squads supervisors or coaches tell them what to do, not the cheerleaders themselves.
  16. Yeah, but this is about wrestling cheerleaders, whos ever seen a mat maid tumble?
  17. I think it would be great if we could get a board for travel ball, or at least keep the softball board open for the summer. It has definatly slowed down, and were still playing. Id like to know whats goin on with other teams too. Especially with the World series comin up in 2 weeks!
  18. Well, every SPORT Ive ever practiced for- you Practice like you play regardless, and if thats their excuse, thats fine, but they definatly dont treat it as such.
  19. There is a huge stereotype when it comes to cheeleaders, and whos to say it isnt correct. Im sure there are alot of them out there who take it very seriously and work hard and really eat sleep and breathe it, like a real athelte would their sport. But how many of those do you see? Majority are absolutly living up to the stereotype, popping gum, twirling their hair, talking and fixing makeup. They cheer only when its convenient for them and meanwhile look up in the crowd pointing out cute boys and waving at friends. They talk about eachother behind their backs, and sometimes get in yelling matches between themselves in the middle of a game. What kind of talent does it take to do this? How can a person get a scholorship for this? Most cheerleaders dont even know what their cheering for, they dont know the first thing about the sport, and doubt they really care. Im sorry, but if I do something, Id like to know about it. When they go to competetion, it is arguably a sport, but I think a sport is a sport ALL the time, not just every once in awhile, and I dont think that majority of cheerleaders are atheletes. But thats just my $.02
  20. I think the reason there are so much less wrestling cheerleaders than regular ones is- who in their right mind would want to be called a "mat maid". They get very little recognition (which is understandable-they dont do anything) and if Iw as one- it would make me mad. But im not and never will be. to most people their nothing but an annoyance, and at least regular cheerleaders stand up to yell.
